I took me years to realize how much I enjoy other people owning things. I walk down the street and see a beautiful yard. There was a time when I would have wanted that yard, but now I can say "how enjoyable to look at that yard -- I'm glad I don't have to take care of it, but it is beautiful."
I will be forever thankful to you, you changed my life I will continue to speak on your behalf for the world to hear that you saved me from huge financial debt with just a little trade, thank you Jihan Wu you're such a life saver
As a beginner in this, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Jihan Wu is also my trade analyst, he has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns
Jihan Wu Services has really set the standard for others to follow, we love him here in Canada 🇨🇦 as he has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
Morgan Housel is the reason I started investing. I’ve always appreciated how he breaks it down so anyone with little investing knowledge can understand the market. Same with Ramit Sethi
Consider diversifying your portfolio with a mix of stocks and stable assets. Seeking professional advice now could provide valuable insights and strategies to navigate market uncertainties and protect your investments.
Financial planning and retirement strategies are crucial, especially in today's economic climate. With global economic fluctuations and uncertainties, it's essential to have a solid plan in place to protect your financial future.
Indeed with the ever-changing global economy, tax laws and regulations can also vary, impacting how investments are taxed. It's essential to stay informed and plan tax strategies accordingly.
the strategies are quite rigorous for the regular-Joe. As a matter of fact, they are mostly successfully carried out by pros who have had a great deal of skills and knowledge
Agreed, I've always delegated my excesses to an advisor, since suffering major portfolio loss early 2020, amid covid outbreak. I'm now semi-retired and only work 7.5 hours a week, with barely 25% short of my $1m retirement goal after subsequent investments to date.
My CFA, Joseph Nick Cahill has assisted me in doing that efficiently, he is a renowned figure in his field. I recommend researching his name online; you'll find all his credentials and everything you need to work with a reliable professional. With many years of experience, he is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
He is right, Thanksgiving is so much better than Christmas. I hate gift giving, unless it is for a kid who doesn't have their own money. My wife and I just have a date night instead of giving each other a gift.
We have shifted our xmas too. Only the little one gets gifts and a family exchange gift game. It's much more fun to watch kids open gifts and drink egg nog.
I feel bad for you. You should get joy out of giving. The value is not the point. The thought is what matters. Write a note. I agree though, we’ve ruined Xmas and made it too commercial. Get back to simple
My family instituted Secret Santa and it was the best move ever. I buy for 1 person, and spoil my 6 year old son. No pressure, no stress, no worries, nobody needs anything anyways.
Xmas is also the end of year where you hear about everyone doing well and going on nice ski vacations while you might actually be busy AF. and you reflect on how crappy your year went by without doing anything extraordinary.
Money may not buy happiness, but it sure buys a lot of stress during the holidays... 😂 Anyone else feel more anxiety than joy when December rolls around?
20:32 This is not so clear cut to me. We are social animals, and the sense of being watched and watching others stems from a deep part of who we are. Groups of people on literal secluded islands have cultures and stories that include veneration and status.
Have to be honest, I'm aware of how much I'm enjoying watching Ed interview a great guest without the anxiety of Scott's cringe "jokes" about rape. At least two in the last month and I would bet a $1,000 he doesn't have Daughters.
If you have more money more of your problems would go away. For most it’s not about buying more stuff, it’s about making dumb problems go away, esp true in the Us, and esp if you have health problems
I think men in particular under estimate jewelry flowers and perfume. More generally I think it depends on the person and their love language. If you like to receive gifts and also let’s say your spouse is emotionally inarticulate, then listening to what you would like can often be a very meaningful gesture when they give you the gift you have been wanting. Taking a trip somewhere and having a nice dinner is great too. In Iceland they drink cocoa and read books on Christmas. Sounds lovely.
I just do not understand this whole jealousy and envy being the root of why people spend money. I mean I get that it does that for some people but that has nothing to do with my spending. For me it's just the dopamine hit. I could care less what other people think of me and my possessions and in fact I really don't want them knowing that much about me.
Drawing a name and keeping the limit to say $20 for another member of a big family is fun, as is having white elephant gifts wrapped and playing games and trading them.
Man you really notice it when Scott's not there. Does Scott have try hard energy? Absolutely. But at least he's got a personality. The other guy is blander than dry paint.
I make 36k a year. I'm very offended by your rhetoric around, "Money doesn't buy happiness." Being financially secure should be the baseline. Then, after achieving financial stability, you can work on being happy. But check-to-check living just makes me incredibly - idal. Be it suic - or homi -.

Hit 240k today Appreciate you for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started with 24k in September 2024..
I would really love to know how much work you did put in to get to this stage

His guidance allowed me to restructure my retirement plan, resulting in an estimated $700,000 more by the time I retire.

Yeah he is the goat

Giving to Blue Santa🤠makes me so happy at Christmas
So with you, don’t do gifts anymore
The commercials are painful. But to hear Morgan, it's worth it.
My family instituted Secret Santa and it was the best move ever. I buy for 1 person, and spoil my 6 year old son. No pressure, no stress, no worries, nobody needs anything anyways.
Not to feed Scott's insecurities but this podcast was a banger, kudos
YES!! We always need more Morgan Housel! This guy is so damn insightful
This conversation is the best Christmas gift !
Love the focus on the emotional aspect of our relationship with money
Xmas is also the end of year where you hear about everyone doing well and going on nice ski vacations while you might actually be busy AF. and you reflect on how crappy your year went by without doing anything extraordinary.
Amazing! I can't put my finger on it, but this episode was way more energetic, dynamic and effervescent than many previous. Great work! 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great episode; great questions Ed, thank you both.
Gifts for your kids up to a certain age.
Otherwise, no gift swapping. Easier for everyone.
Agreed💯, I haven’t cared about getting gifts since like 13-15 years old.
Never missed your show prof
Excellent podcast as usual. Very thoughtful and life affirming.
This christmas i am thankful ed elson and scott galloway are in my life
We exchange books, supposedly an Icelandic tradition. It's fantastic and transformed Christmas for our family.
Money may not buy happiness, but it sure buys a lot of stress during the holidays... 😂 Anyone else feel more anxiety than joy when December rolls around?
Great point about the frequent failure of New Years resolutions… I’m going to automate my 529 deposits on a monthly basis for ‘25 so I can’t back out.
Scott’s not here? I’m out✌️
Joking, Ed makes the show

Every person that has money says money isn’t that important.
Next time Scott is sick (or hungover) you should use the Scott AI bot you made in his place

Morgan without Scott okay then 👀
Scott’s TDS final hit hard
Sorry about your future, kids. You should make all the changes you need without regard for your parents.

All I'm hearing is the classic bullet points that every author that sells this kind of books talks about
Why is Scott a multi- millionaire and still more relatable than this guy?!
I gave it 15 minutes. I’m tapping out.
Drawing a name and keeping the limit to say $20 for another member of a big family is fun, as is having white elephant gifts wrapped and playing games and trading them.
Thats why we only buy gifts for kids.
Thanksgiving is only stressful for those hosting.
Or if your family are all Trump supporters and you are not.
How to make the most of your money in the new year?......Spend someone else's..........
SCOTT GOT BIRD FLU?
An episode without a sex joke from a 60 year old man child 🤔
Your only 25!
Ed uses the word “like”, like a foolish pregnant pause, lose the “like”, umm errr uhhh…
Man you really notice it when Scott's not there. Does Scott have try hard energy? Absolutely. But at least he's got a personality. The other guy is blander than dry paint.
I stopped hearing when they said Christmas is about presents and stress. Ridiculous consumerist shallow thinking
Yeah, I don't understand how folks don't even focus on the nativity and proper celebration. Clown world.
Anyone check microstrategy lately?
Yes not good
Bet on Kamala
Banger episode, great job there, Ed! 💪🏼👏🏻
You are son of soil like me

I was really looking forward to the beat drop 😢
More Ed, less Scott - Scott has less rizz. Instead Scott should be be like Mavis Beacon - a facilitating brand for the real talent behind the camera
