    It's never mentioned in the series, but the truth is that what Carina goes through between Grey's Anatomy and her father, her brother and Maya's is impressive how this girl can be so strong, but it's true. I have thought about it many times when I watched the series, talking so much about Maya's mental health, but Carina's mental health is always put to the test, what happens is that she is much stronger, Carina has a very bad time, in the bathroom scene with Vic, what happens is that because she always has to take care of others, she shuts up and it's unfair, they should mention it sometime...

      That's why when her brother died and Maya did all the callings for the funeral, house rent, bank accounts, etc., for her . Carina saod: "Thank you, nobody had ever done that for me!! "
      It was the first time someone took control instead of her, she was capable to lose her mother, looking over her brother to protect him from their father's mental problems. 🥺💖

    Que hermoso video, que fuerte es Carina Deluca, "The desesperate need to help others, even if it hurts". Tener que vivir eso desde pequeña con su padre, hermano menor y luego su esposa, es muy fuerte, carina es un angel y tiene un corazón de oro. Que bueno que carina y maya volvierón a estar juntas y mas fuertes que nunca.

    Beautiful video, as always! It hurts to see all of the pain Carina carries, I feel it makes her even more relatable and let's you see the reasons why she decided to get Maya on the 5150. She had the experience to know what was coming and in her case it was her life what was at stake. There are a lot of other things that I believe that played into the entire situation, but I think that if Carina didn't have all that experience and pain from her past, Maya wouldn't be here anymore. Carina would've giving in the "you can help me at home" and Maya would've collapsed, so I actually think that because of her past she was able to save Maya, she had the strength to go through with it, even if it mean loosing her forever, she would be alive.
    Editing is such a hard work and you do it beautifully. Thanks for this video and all the rest. Sometimes they help me write. You are an inspiration.

    Holy shit. It's a beautiful Tuesday morning, and it's made more beautiful with this edit. Cam-I'm not entirely sure how it's possible for you to mentally bank all of these moments for later use, but I don't think there's another person alive with your capacity to remember things and weave stories that call back to parallels. You have an innate skill for visual storytelling that eclipses some professionals I know working in film and television today, and I wait (sometimes patiently) for each one of your edits to come out, so I can experience something incredible through the lens you see the world. This is beautiful, visceral, torturous, but oh, so perfect. Carina deserves the world. I'm glad you're out here doing her justice.

    Omg?????? I. AM. IN. PAIN! This is so beautiful, Cam 😍😍😍😍😍 But also so sad ☹☹ She has suffered so so much. The way you edited make it so clear how much they neglect her, how much she only suffers and only lives around the pain and problems of others. She deserves a life of her own, problems of her own and, the most important, she deserves happiness and her baby.
    You've done it again Cam. My favorite part is the moment the music fades, the absence of sound. It's like a punch in the gut. This edit is a super easy cry. 🥹

    Heres what i think. Firstly this was once again a great edit. Both maya and carina in my opinion are flawed in their own ways. In season 6 especially with Maya and her mental health deteriorating, both of them were focused on different things. Carina was focused on trying to get pregnant while maya cared about her captaincy and then beckett practically making her life living hell.
    Carina knew of mayas coping mechanisms and eyes forward and everything and i feel that during this time both of them just didnt cater to what both of them deemed important. Maya was at fault for the blackmail and everything but in the end carina once again only focused on the pregnancy. And because s19 writers just love drama, maya wasnt in the headspace to have a child even. So considering what she was going through if was a little entitled of carina to leave maya at her lowest point.
    Both of them were walking two different paths during that season and idk i just wanted to put it out there. I honestly just want them to be happy again and for season 7 to give us small marina babies. Thank you for listening to my ted talk.

    I'm not sure I have ever hated a character that every one worships as much as this one. She is arrogant and controlling and overbearing. She never apologizes for anything she says or does (like the rooftop). She can refuse to let Maya touch her and walk away from her and it's her right but when Maya walks away she is the the devil. And having the conversation Carina has with Vic is disgusting. Shame on Carina for having this conversation with Maya's co-worker at work, a co-worker that has talked so much trash about Maya and abandoned her. And the kicker is, Carina knows this because Maya told her that the team has abandoned her and talks about her but why would that stop Carina. Then she abandons her ... and 2 weeks alone in the apartment doesn't sound like she really cares whether Maya kills herself because that could have been a fatal decision. Then Maya picks herself and moves forward from years of abuse from her father and that terrible team at 19 and SFD with absolutely no help from her wife. No, her wife tries to make it harder, punish her for her mental health crisis. Then only goes home because Maya has given up her career goals to be her submissive little 1950s wife that puts her on a pedestal. And her idea of putting in work is not working to trigger Maya less with her need to control Maya. And the audacity of that woman to actually say for better or for worse. She left when things got hard, made Maya do all the work, submit to her desire that Maya have no career goals or aspirations and then and only then come home. Maya deserves someone who can love all of her, even the broken pieces. Not someone who repeatedly told her for most of Season 6 that she was too broken to love. Someone who Maya will never feel safe with. Maya deserves so much better than Carina.

      You made your point and i kinda agree with you. But people only saw how Carina felt and how she was so hurt from the people she loved. How about the other people feelings,right? Especially Maya who suffered a lot too,with her abusive father. Yeah it was ashame when Carina said that phrase" for better or worse" cos she abandoned Maya in that hospital when she really needed her the most. And then after that she became cold and ignored Maya whenever she tried to reach her..Made Maya chased her and beg for her. So yeah its not fair that Maya lost herself and lost her battle to become captain again and more and Carina excell and do what she wanted to do with herself and her carreer. And soon kid that she wanted.

    • @mintblueneon

      I totally see your point, especially when Maya discovered where her trauma came from all on her own. She never needed the therapy her terrible, awful wife asked her 1000 times to get. No, Maya is unique, self-sufficient and driven, she realized it all on her own, and she did it because she was right all along. The world is terribly unfair to Maya, I mean, she didn't had it coming to be left out by her team when she put them in danger doing five 24-hour shifts in a row to avoid going home to her wife, no. She wasn't being selfish and irresponsible. They had to have her back, because... well, it's Maya and "she" deserves better. And what an audacity for Maya's wife to have friends and talk about HER life with, like Vic. No she is reserved to Maya and Maya alone. And well.
      I'm so glad someone had the cojones to talk for Maya, because she clearly is not able to make her own decisions, she is been so abused and damaged that she has been programed to go back to her terrible wife, and carry her through the door welcoming her home, instead of going for her job. (I bet she even made her get those awful bangs, devil of a woman).
      And no, I do not feel the need to justify my sarcasm to you.

    • @nessaerk6473
      @nessaerk6473 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't hate Carina, she is usually a very sweet character
      And Maya drowned in her own despair (mainly because Station19 family turned their back on her. Apparently Maya Bishop is the only character that is not allowed to make mistakes)
      What she said on the roof was almost unforgivable ("almost", because hormones helped her to be totally unpleasant)
      What she did with Vic and how Vic behaved later was disgusting
      The way Maya spoke to Carina was wrong (not what she said, because everything was true) but Maya was at her lowest moment of her mental health, beyond her breakdown
      The way she abandoned Maya and for so much time was as if Carina said "I wanted to help you so that don't break yourself, now that you are broken, collect the pieces alone"
      And it is true that it was felt that Carina only returned home with her wife because she felt satisfied that Maya gave up what she is unfairly taken away
      "Ok honey has spent a lot of time since your captaincy was unfairly taken away, enough from groan, nobody cares"
      I insist I don't hate Carina, but in those scenes I didn't recognize the sweet character that she is usually

    • @lorynpierceeastabrook5177
      @lorynpierceeastabrook5177 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@nessaerk6473 But what I think people sometimes forget about the rooftop scene and really just season 6 in general is that in 6x01, we get dropped in and see the rooftop scene, which is jarring compared to where the couple left off in season 5. But the thing is, there is a whole unseen 6 months of drama that led up to that rooftop scene, between the end of season 5 and the beginning of season 6. Six months of Maya keeping the blackmail from Carina only for Carina to find it out from Beckett while she was trying to defend Maya. There were 6 whole months of Maya pushing Carina away, working late or not coming home and not talking when she was home. This was brewing for 6 months and based on what little we see, we're led to believe that Carina has been trying to be supportive and find out what is going on with Maya all the way up until this point. Then when she she finally finds out about the blackmail, again, from Beckett, she connects the dots and realizes this is why Maya has been such a bear for the last six months. So yeah, I think she had every right to be angry. She had been begging for months for Maya to talk to her and even in her anger, she ended her speech on the rooftop with "you need to get help".
      Yes, she talked to others about Maya, but she never trashed her. She told Andy she missed Maya and tried to do her laundry for her when she ran out because she refused to even come home. She told Vic how much she loved Maya and that she was willing to wait it out while Maya processed through what she was dealing with and ultimately decided to not look at her pregnancy test because she wanted her wife to be wife her even though she'd basically been ignoring her. All leading up to Maya's accident, she was trying to reach Maya. Trying to connect with her. Literally begging her to get help. Telling her how much she loved her, that she didn't want to lose her and Maya kept pushing Carina away, which is literally what Maya has always done.
      Don't get me wrong. I adore Maya, but a main tenet of Maya's character from the beginning of the show was her walling off people when things got hard. She did it to Jack. She did it to Andy. And ultimately, to Carina, as well. Yes, pushing people away is a trauma response for Maya, but that doesn't mean it's okay or that Carina, or anyone else for that matter, had to put up with it. Her trauma wasn't her fault, but it was her responsibility to work on it and not let it destroy the people around her, but she let her terrible coping skills impact all of her relationships. Carina had every right to feel angry, frustrated, and alone.
      (I will say here that I hate the way the rest of the team pulled away from Maya during this time, but I also can understand why that did. Yes, she was in pain, but she was a miserable person to be around so I can get why people kept their distance. I think there could have been some great storyline around the team rallying around her, but ultimately that didn't happen. ANyway, back to Marina)
      As for Carina abandoning Maya, she 5150'd her to save her life. And I am so glad that Carina moved out because as sad as it was (they were both clearly hurting) they BOTH needed that space to decompress and heal and Maya needed to be brought to her knees a little bit so she could see just how much her trauma was destroying her and those she loved, and how much she really did need help. It was not Carina's job to stand by and take the abuse Maya was dishing out, despite the fact that it was a trauma response.
      At the end of the day, Carina is by no means blameless, but expecting her to stick around for months while Maya pushed her and all of those who loved her away and slammed on the self-destruct button is terrible. Maya is an incredible character and she desperately needed to be knocked down a peg so she could realize that she in, in fact, mortal, fallible, and cannot continue this whole "I'm an island/Eyes Forward" thing. She had to hit rock bottom before she was ready to hear anything. Her story is a powerful one, but Carina has been to hell and back, too.
