I do love the art but I hope you guys prioritize Page real estate for actual mechanics and lore. I also do like how you guys are using the changeling the dreaming mechanic of banality versus bedlam for Harano and Hauglosk.
I wonder: You mention that there still are the Glabro and Hispo forms. These used to be a little neglected in past edition as there was little need to assume them. Are there plans to make them more interesting, to give them something to make it worthwhile to use these forms?
Our playtesters used them a lot, given Crinos form bears its own risks and is best to be used wisely and very shortly. With Crinos being the "nuclear" option, Glabro and Hispo come into play much more often!
I'll probably just replace the Galestalkers with the Get, I knew that they would be axed from the book when the visual novel used outdated old lore to trash them.

I'm from Brazil, too. I gotta say that the distribution here has been very, VERY poor. I couldn't even pre-order the book because there's no shipping to Brazil. Furthermore, several books from V5 are not translated or even ship to Brazil still. I haven't been able to buy V5 Chicago by Night here. Amazon doesn't have it, Renegade doesn't ship it. It's sad, and honestly, I'm kinda giving up on the 5th edition since I can't put my hands on new material and the pace has been slower than a crawl. Mind you, I don't even need translated material, I'd be fine to get the books in english, but it's PAINFUL to even try. I was all in on V5 and the whole soft-reset of the whole metaplot... I'm tired of waiting. I can't speak for all, but I can say that you've lost me for this ride, I'll fall back on the PDFs for the 20th anniversary from now on... I'm sorry.

@@boku6592 Oh i know...still had to ask if they had some plans...they could buy it out...i mean... one of the things i would really like is too see a geist style index...many people don't realize but for a dm one of the most important parts of the book is actually the index... I have read over 20 different systems...and whitewolf has the worst indexes the new ones aren't that bad...but they could certainly be better... examples of good indexes like the ones in geist, in beast are important... other systems with great indexes include city of mists, wicked ones and those made by cubicle 7 speacially warhammer fantasy roleplaying game . i ain't asking for much...just a proper index...a detailed index

This is truly a double edged sword. I like the new game mechanics. But I hate the new lore and all the renaming. Every time I watch an interview about the new lore coming everyone acts like they have a mystery box and I hate JJ Abrams and this is constantly what they remind me of is no I promise cool stuff is coming. 😅

And I am not speaking about the reimagining thing they have done with the game, ecology has always been a part of the game but it has never been the center of the game, it was just another big fight they had to make, while the core theme was modern savage horror and that was awesome. Now they are forcing the game agenta more towards ecology and that is a bit forceful in my mind. And that is the least of all things. Where to catch it and were to leave it, as I mentioned above the game has been simplified in all aspects, fewer Gifts, fewer rituals (expecting to have). ''Why fewer gifts and rituals while there has never been a mentioning of them yet ?'', one might say. The answer is simple, the lack of Breeds, a ton of gifts (and rituals) based on breed are expected to be removed. The breeds themselves have been removed and now you have only Homid, you know like Forsaken, pure breeding has been removed, while it was an extremely important aspect of the game and the wolf theme. The tie to the land and the ancestors has been removed, how ?, by removing pure breed, now the tribes are international, its a matter of principle and ideals rather than milenia of tradition that bonded the Garou to the ways of Gaia, I somewhat expect that ancestors may be a part in the game, more like ghost garou rather than the ancestor of a family bloodline, if that is going to be the case then the game will have lost one more element. Tribes international, now everyone can become everyone !!! I mean what ? Black Furred Silver Fang , Silver Pelted Shadow Lord, Male Black Fury, white coated Silent Strider, Native American Fianna (just like in Forsaken) you name it you do it, I mean why ? The game had such aspects for very speciffic tribes, like the Glass Walkers, the Black Furies, Red Talons, Silent Striders etc etc which could become international tribes within reason, now there is no reason, just be whatever you like, thats inconsistencial. The tie to the tribe was centered around the caern and its totem which in W5 will remain as such I believe, but something my ear caught about ''shard caerns'' which looks a lot about Forsaken Loci, that might not be a bad element but we shall see. Modern Tibal Totems and tribal roles are of poor design, originaly I would agree that many things were vague and obscure which were cleared out by various supplements but here we are to be found on the other edge, where Tribe = ideal and ideal = Renown and the Totem=ideal enhancement. With Renown = access to tribal (and auspice, but no breed) Gifts and rituals and enhancement of them, we literally have Renown Magick !!!! (just like in Forsaken) and I imagine rank to be the sum up of various renown dots which you will be buying with Experience points !!! While originally you had to earn them with actions and deeds, but not XP. The Roles of the Tribes are poor, I mean look at the Red Talons for example, Totem Griffin, Verbs(!?!) Ruin -Ward - Reduce - Purge, Tribal Renown HONOR !!! 🤣. Man thats childish. Removal of Gnosis, now the garou have no connection to Gaia they are only Rage, with Renown replacing Gnosis. No comment. Garou metrosexual, what game is this really about ? Thats the least on the list. Overall if I was born today I might somewhat got hookedd up to the title and watch it from afar if I would buy the game or not, with ages of Revised on my back I just can't say this is going on the right direction. Werewolf isn't my WoD game, and I'm not particularly interested in getting W5. However, I have given the V5 book a lot of shit online for it's layout and imagery throughout the years. So, I feel it's only fair to compliment what I'm seeing here so far. Bit early for anything definite of course, but it looks clean enough. Goo job.
Interesting. My initial comment seems to have gone missing. In summary; No. Lots of cuts with nothing substantial or of merit replacing it, homogenization of rules and rule elements from other WoD5 game lines that do not need to be there, and thematic and lore changes that gut the essence of the game and aren't even applied intelligently. The Get go bonkers (yeah that tracks, even if its lazy) but the Red bloody Talons are around?! That doesn't make sense in the old tribe structure or in the new "its how ya verb" format. So much of this feels half baked or As a wise person once said; Verb this.
I agree. They are gutting the game. No interest in this new edition, which is sad because out of all the WOD games Werewolf has always been my favorite.
The tribes are rehashed into tribes do things in certain ways. There is still conflict on how to get things done. I imagine each tribe will have histories which transcend culutural heritages. I am sure you can recreate your image of those tribes in the tribes offered.
You don't need a new edition if you just want to keep everything samesy. Post the end of the original oWoD having everything be the same is unrealistic. This edition is about the war being lost. Face it, y'all lost and your ridiculous Gaian tribe infighting is to blame. The Fianna in particular got what they had coming. Just dance the spiral already. You'll thank me later.

Woke, Woke, Woke. I was seriously interested in this RPG. And wanting to get into the 5E format, it would have been my “entry” into 5E. But after some careful study, it is a totally Woke game. Seems like they took all the Woke-politics first, then designed the game around it. Climate change, diversity, don’t offend indigenous peeps, and everything else that is wrong this generation…and then putting it into a great IP. NOPE! After it made some red lights flash for me, I decided to look more into it. And I found that the previous iterations were much better. And many folks saw the same thing I perceived. Not for me…Sorry! But if you are into Woke game, and the story and game mechanics are not the priority, then maybe it’s for you. I’ll pass and look elsewhere for my “5E” entry.
I'd love LOVE the WoD to make a comeback like D&D 5e did. So far the editions have been: 1st: Revolutionary story and fan appeal, mechanics sometimes janky, DnD derivative, too much metaplot 2nd e: Better balance, sometimes too rule heavy over player creativity, plot less interesting Onyx Path: derivative, bad, woke bullying vs fanbase DnD 5e hit it out of the park, why the no.1 horror RPG franchise must toil in crowdfound hell instead of replicating it is beyond me.

Werewolf isn't my WoD game, and I'm not particularly interested in getting W5. However, I have given the V5 book a lot of shit online for it's layout and imagery throughout the years. So, I feel it's only fair to compliment what I'm seeing here so far. Bit early for anything definite of course, but it looks clean enough. Goo job.

Interesting. My initial comment seems to have gone missing.
In summary; No. Lots of cuts with nothing substantial or of merit replacing it, homogenization of rules and rule elements from other WoD5 game lines that do not need to be there, and thematic and lore changes that gut the essence of the game and aren't even applied intelligently.
The Get go bonkers (yeah that tracks, even if its lazy) but the Red bloody Talons are around?! That doesn't make sense in the old tribe structure or in the new "its how ya verb" format.

I agree. They are gutting the game. No interest in this new edition, which is sad because out of all the WOD games Werewolf has always been my favorite.
The tribes are rehashed into tribes do things in certain ways. There is still conflict on how to get things done. I imagine each tribe will have histories which transcend culutural heritages. I am sure you can recreate your image of those tribes in the tribes offered.

You don't need a new edition if you just want to keep everything samesy. Post the end of the original oWoD having everything be the same is unrealistic. This edition is about the war being lost. Face it, y'all lost and your ridiculous Gaian tribe infighting is to blame. The Fianna in particular got what they had coming. Just dance the spiral already. You'll thank me later.
@@gmork1090 this is a poor argument. Things can change without becoming unrecognizable. Nothing has been retained that made WtA whst it was. Not the tribes, not the mechanics, and certainly not the themes.

I was seriously interested in this RPG. And wanting to get into the 5E format, it would have been my “entry” into 5E.
But after some careful study, it is a totally Woke game.
Seems like they took all the Woke-politics first, then designed the game around it.
Climate change, diversity, don’t offend indigenous peeps, and everything else that is wrong this generation…and then putting it into a great IP.

After it made some red lights flash for me, I decided to look more into it. And I found that the previous iterations were much better. And many folks saw the same thing I perceived.

But if you are into Woke game, and the story and game mechanics are not the priority, then maybe it’s for you.

I'd love LOVE the WoD to make a comeback like D&D 5e did.
So far the editions have been:
1st: Revolutionary story and fan appeal, mechanics sometimes janky, DnD derivative, too much metaplot
2nd e: Better balance, sometimes too rule heavy over player creativity, plot less interesting
Onyx Path: derivative, bad, woke bullying vs fanbase
DnD 5e hit it out of the park, why the no.1 horror RPG franchise must toil in crowdfound hell instead of replicating it is beyond me.

Are you saying that Chronicles of Darkness was woke? Heh, HAH, you're trolling. Chronicles of Darkness went out of it way to slice away all the cultural baggage and very derogatory interpretations of the oWoD by not having the monsters tied to human cultures that the dev had no fucking clue about. It was the exact OPPOSITE of woke, never mind that World of Darkness has always been woke. Werewolf: the Apocalypse was basically Woke: The Game. Also, Chronicles of Darkness is better.

The same guy eho “blessed” us with Tremere: a Harry Potter vampire game and Vampire Requiem.

Requiem is a women empowerment manifesto, Forsaken has gifts allowing to change sex and entire table explaining that gender is fluid and only a matter of choice, Mage depicts Free Council as Pride Parade members, Promethean enforces nonbinary pronouns, Deviants depicts capitalists, corporate and governments as the source of Web of Pain and Beast blatantly positions conservatives as evil people.
If you don't see these things, that are objectively there, then you are shutting your eyes and mind to them very, very deliberately. And very, very hard.
