This game has the story, the colour and character design and the maps down perfectly. But War has perfected the combat and the Nemesis system

I absolutely played this game so many times, the combat is hella visceral version of the Arkham combat, mind controlling uruk captains, newbies and warchiefs through the nemesis system just feels addictive to choose the strengths and weaknesses of each uruk types.
Shadow of War is also amazing as well.
EDIT: I really wish if they ever had some mods to implement on both Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, like adding skins. I imagined if they ever made a Legolas skin so I can have fun using it to slaughter some Uruks while be Legolas.
Shame there ain't many mods for either game
I remember watching reviews for this game on an actual cable television back in the day and being hyped.

It actually surprised me how good this game was, and how much i enjoyed playing it. There aren't many games in the last 10 years that I have enjoyed as much as this one. It's up there with the best, in my opinion.
Yeah, it was hard to play when I got it, but then I started my nemesis SoW playthrough, and it changed

Imagine if WB actually utilized the Nemesis System in Gotham Knights to create unique villains.

Playing these games again in 2023 and they are still so damn satisfying. The stealth is definitely easy but that's honestly one of my favorite parts. I don't play to be weak. I play to be the Batman of Mordor, wreaking brutal terror on orcs everywhere. XD
3:51 the way he did the flurry combo then to the combat execution was kind of satisfying lol cause the way you did it made it look cinematically like you dodged the other guys attack when you impaled him lol the timing is what made that awesome
It's sad that we didn't get more games with the Nemesis system. It was so unique and fun.

I love how all the Orcs have like 5 voice actors.

Shadow of War is still probably one of my most favorite games I’ve ever played. The game makes you feel like a real war general and I unlocked pretty much all the armor pieces and my character looks absolutely insane.
Both Shadow games are on my top ten favorites. They still look and play great.

Still play this and War to this day. The Nemesis System is absolutely phenomenal for worldbuilding and putting together some fun stories.
Just 100% completed the achievements on steam since I’d already done it on my PS4 years ago. Still one of my favorite games
I find that Talion in this game is more brutal with his actions and is a little less contained of his emotions when he fights orcs or even delas with any of them, he's less mature in this game and is still comprehending what's going on.
It an alright over all, it has some decent story telling especially with the nemesis mechanics, and a solid game play loop. I feel like this game struggles being a bit repetitive at times and too many open empty places.
This is mainly what I think Shadow of War improved on greatly, they made more meaningful Nemesis activities around the maps for you to take part in

The Celebrimbor dlc of this game is heavily underrated. It is so satisfying to conquer Mordor as the Bright Lord
I absolutely adored it, hell I even just replayed it from time to time
When I was 14 I replayed the game for a 2nd time and beat the game in one sitting in less than 24hrs. I didn’t even intend to I was j having fun and enjoying the storyline. Forever will love this game
I can’t believe this game is already 8 years old. The brutal slaughtering killing is so addictive. I haven’t played a game quite like it.
I just finished it for like the 5th time. 2023 still holds up, still better than Most.

finished playing this a few days ago for the first time, what surprised me was how well the movement still holds up, currently 20hrs in SoW

@@Simply_Lawliet yea prob same. the orc captain maintenance is easier and some of the movement felt more punchy in mordor like the stun punch an freeze leap over enemies, the combat was more convenient too with lots of elf shot an focus time buffs. for now i will have to agree
Don't make me have to play this again (already done so twice with the DLCs)! It's a really tight experience. Shadow of War introduced some cool mechanics but became a bit of a slog.
I got this game on sale in the PS Store about a week ago and have been playing it daily since. I've beaten the final boss, but something I love is the % marker on the save file shows that I've completed only about 50% of the game. Getting incentive to do more stuff and getting better at battle and strategy will keep me going for quite a while, especially when farming with a Graug.
Edit: I also like being able to play in a sneaking style like Metal Gear Solid instead of only doing active battle.

The stealth part was the funnest part of the game. I grew up with tenchu metal gear and siphon filter.
They need to do a remake of Syphon Filter 1, I need that taser in my life again.

Shadow of War looks a lot more difficult combat wise. Orcs are a lot smarter on higher difficulties also

The atmosphere in SoM actually made me scared when going into open combat, which I think was lost with SoW.

I want more system like Nemesis system. Even to this day, none of the games available now or coming out soon can match it. who would have thought that giving a personality to the antagonist made the whole battle dynamic so refreshing and fun.

Hopelly next we will get some multiple fighting controls. Slashing punch and stabs in different directions should be selected by the joysticks without forgetting to move the body and .timely and directional defence with your gears.
I played all the Batman games and googled other games from the same studios and it brought me to this. This is by far in my top 5 video games of all time

I've played both. I enjoy the gameplay, map and mechanics of SoW, but the story & characters in SoM are just so much better. Torvin beats Eltariel any day of the week
And fun fact, the VA for Celebrimbor is the same person who voiced Mimir (God of War) and Senator Armstrong (Metal Gear Rising)

Apart from the stealth aspect, they're both third person fighting games with open world exploration. In terms of gameplay mechanics i would say the witcher has more depth, though shadow of mordor looks like it has more fighting abilities to unlock. they're pretty similar games in terms of gameplay. Can you elaborate on your point instead of throwing a tantrum?

I can't believe I passed up on this game. Saw it on special in the xbox store, and gave it a shot. Hit the the bullseye with this one. Glad I got something to play now since games these days are incomplete -_-

The fact that the gollum in this game looks 1000x better than the gollum from that actual dedicated Gollum game.
Both this game and the sequel are excellent. Everything is almost perfect. Plus the games are always random because of the excellent Nemesis system. I haven't seen that system implemented in any other game strangely enough.
The sequel got flak because of microtransactions BUT I didn't bought anything and I got Platinum too. You don't need to do it.
I suggest everyone plays them. But where is the 3rd game?

i got recommended a video of a guy doing one of the sieges and thought it was a new game that i had missed. there are so many old games that ive never heard of that look so damn good.
I also remember thinking it would be cool to see Celebrimbor in live action, and then the Amazon series released.

I started to play Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor on Xbox One last year and i never regretted it 🙂. This game is so awesome and fun. The combat is so badass and fluid like in the Batman Arkham games and i love doing stealthkills on Orcs . Killing Orcs and Orc Captains is satisfying. The Nemesis system is so cool and genius gameplay mechanic. Later on in the game it gets better when you can brand Orcs and Captains and you can create your own army .
Story and Characters never stand out, but nemesis system itself worth every minute of it 💯🔥
Its a shame we won't see another of these. Some of my favourite games. I always forget how good they are until i pick them up again
They should of added a gameplay where you play as an uruk trying to rise up the ranks to captain,warchief and do missions also watch out for the gravewalker
Hirgons voice is familiar because it is Travis Willingham who also voices Idril’s father in Shadow of War. He also voices Jaro Tapal in Fallon Order and Kingpin in Spider-man. He is in tons of stuff.

Ive tried to play this a few times and its always been enjoyable, im now trying to complete it finally from a new play through and its fast becoming one of the best games I’ve ever played , it has everything ! Dont sleep on this ….. play it now !

I replayed this game after watching the 1st episode of Rings of Power because I needed some good Tolkien to burn away the filth of that show left on my brain. It's still fantastic and my favorite version of the Arkham combat system.

man I didn't know about shadow of war until the recent steam sale I purchased it on a whim seeing that its related to LOTR I brought it for 70 INR which is equivalent to one dollar, and it turned out to be the best purchase of my life

The only thing I didn’t like about the game was that the main feature of the game (nemesis system) doesn’t get going till a little less than halfway through the game.
Bought shadow bundle at MYR 28.50 (approx. 6.40 USD), it's a steal. Glad that I don't hype on every latest game and waited for sales after years of release.
On your comment regarding the rings of power, I remember when this game came out and I loved it. Loved shadow of war too but just like the rings of power this is fan fiction. I’m glad the games finished on shadow of war if I’m honest. Any further down the road and these games would have massacred Tolkiens work to the absolute extreme.
One of the few games, in which you can create juggernauts as opponents (intentionally or unintentionelly (like me)).
The combat in this game compared to the sequel had so much more impact.
The brutalize and execute animations and sounds were crazy, and there was way more weight to the whole game.
Yup, SoW is boring to play today, SoM is still fun. Running both games on max graphics, there's just something about the looks and the effects in SoM making it so much darker, grittier and more brutal. What also annoyed me about SoW was that some executions had been switched out with very boring ones. Talion has a bigger arsenal, but feels much weaker

You should try dishonored. It's very open to different playstyles and is extremely fun.
the game itself is not that different structurally to other open world games but it feels good cause the combat is brutal and fast than assassins boring creeds gameplay but i think the story is a weaker than other open world games but overall it's a solid game just because of the combat and nemesis and not because it's a better designed open world game

I remember there were some similarities during development when they talked about the Path engine and how it worked.
Ultimately this is one of my favorite games and kept me going during one of the worst periods of my life.
The Nemesis system I think Could be amazing if it was only used with certain NPCs that way it feels less repetitive and video gamey.

I just recently discovered this gem of a game that I somehow missed back in 2014. It's free to Amazon Prime members this month. This is best hack and slash style game I've ever played! The combat is very fluid, and once you get used to which keys do what, it is VERY satisfying! Also my current PC is so much better than what I had in 2014 I can play this smoothly at 4k with max settings, so having a better expirence visually than I would have in 2014! 10/10
I've just got Middle- Earth: Shadow Of War for free with PS Plus and i'm loving it so far it's a great game and whatever engine they used it's a good one and more games need to use it.

Always get the two mixed up but mordor is the one I normally play and other then the last two bosses being pitifully easy, the game is really fun and even just killing captains is fun

I didn’t really like the terrain of Mordor before mount Doom exploded. It is very different from what we have seen at the end of return of the king where it was more flat. Still, the game was a masterpiece and it is one of the rare moments when sequel is even better
