This is great footage of a time when the State fair of Oklahoma was a really big thing unlike today, other than horse shows... You can see the people had so much more pride back then with most people dressing up nice, like they were going to Sunday School; even the ride operators wore uniforms and look really professional! Today, just about everybody dresses like bums and schlubs, too casual... lol
Wow I was like a Mini World's Fair back then with different nations flags back then, I noticed the smoking everywhere and how see how fast the rides were going
Same Question. What the heck was going on there? We now know this beautiful & peaceful archive footage is approx less than 3 months before _"Reality"_ struck at Pearl Harbor. Our *USS* *Oklahoma* was still afloat in the Hawaiian Water as well.
This is great! I love seeing what the fair lookled like in 1940.
America was great then!
Reminds me of south Dakota state fair a little bit
thanks so much for this . the video quality is outstanding! funny how many things stay the same.
My dad grew up on a farm about 1 1/2 miles from there. He would have been 10 and 11yo so I'm sure he was at those fairs.
I wish they still had these old ferris wheels today thay were my fave.
The ferris wheel is going so fast 😂
That's what I noticed! Like, super fast!
Ferris wheel don't go that fast. The FPS of the film is causing this effect.

Interesting video but there may be a discrepancy. The video is dated 1940 and it shows the speedway and grandstand which wasn’t built until 1954.
It is nothing like the hot weather we have these days of 2023 in Oklahoma
What carnival was this in 1940 ?
The fact that ww2 is going on
But the United States didn’t get involved until December 1941… over a year after this film footage took place.
NONE DONE NONE
