It seems to me he got admitted into Harvard because of outstanding academic record as well as high sense of responsibility (taking of younger siblings well and participated in different meaningful social activities).
Five seniors from my school got into Harvard Early Decision, and there are only 61 students in the graduating class. Eighty Percent of the class got into Harvard, complete insanity.
well done for gettin in! Harvard is my dream university too and I kept thinking it's far-fetching for me. But lately, I decided to apply to Harvard because you live only once. I just want to know if I will get accepted or reject. anyway, Chase Hu is quiet a handsome guy
I had a 4.6 GPA, got 32 on the Act, played baseball in high school, had pretty well off parents, but I couldn't get into Yale because of Affirmative Action. Still ended up going to USC law school, and now I'm working for a law firm, Manatt Phelps and Phillips, in Los Angeles. But I still believe if Affirmative action didn't exist, my law career would have an even greater future
Tbh your stats are pretty common among USC undergrads. Also, most of the kids admitted had leadership roles in high school, not just 1 sport. If anything, an Asian kid like him has affirmative action against him as well, so don’t blame AA for it.
You story of when your were young before moving to America is exactly how mine was. My dad moved when I was little and my mom said she was going to the store and came back 3 years later. I also had to stay with my grandparents
That must be really nice now it's 2016 i think he has a good job by now and he has determination and worked hard so he deserve this success ... people always discuss why Asians succeed more and think it's all due to hard work or higher IQ but i think something also help Asians that is FAMILY ,, because if you come from a dysfunctional family or single parent family you're rates of success decrease than if you come from a good supporting family with 2 parents ...
***** yeah... 5.0 GPA, most AP classes, and I participated in community service and clubs. Huh that is interesting. One of my black friend got into one of the ivy easily with a sat of 2020
Guys, I am at a loss. Are there many Asian Americans at Harvard because they have parents that 'pressure their kids' to do very well? I myself have an Asian friend and I wanted to ask him the same question but honestly he isn't very smart :/ I have grown up in a Hispanic family and my parents just tell me to do well and that's all.
??? xDD Never did I state that's why people go into IB -- of course they do it for the money! However, they create tremendous value within the economy and do more good than harm
i wish i could get in Harvard ... but i have no enough money ,,,, that is why i am so sad ,, because Harvard is my dream i always dream of it just like if it is real thing happened to me ,, because i see that i deserve to grt in Harvard and it is the suitable place for me , i have that huge ambition to learn and to know everything and i see that i can do something that may change the world one day , i always say to myself that i could do the same thing in another university , and i try so hard to convince myself so , but i always get failed ... but it is always the money :(
yeah, im not sure about international policies but many times (for americans) going to harvard would be cheaper than going to your public state school. im guessing you could get financial aid as international as well, the only problem i think would be in admissions since you would be competing with A LOT of people
Me too, I feel like if my parents pushed me way more harder, I could get the best grades. But they don't believe in pushing their children to the limit. Sadly.
Not to take any credit and hard work away from this young man, this is a very typical Asian American immigrant story. I must came across 3-4 in my life and circle with similar background and story. I want to know what big idea has he achieved so far now in 2019? I wonder If he is still in investment banking or got another Havard MBA ? A hard working , ruler follower that continue to fuel the Asian model minority myth. I wish there would be better breakout story that will be more inspirational. This is too cliche. Nothing special.
It seems to me he got admitted into Harvard because of outstanding academic record as well as high sense of responsibility (taking of younger siblings well and participated in different meaningful social activities).
Harvard will be rejecting 1,600 Valedictorians this year so yeah lol.

@@adriananoriega lol. Then where did u get in?
Well, I can see why you got into Harvard man. I don't think you should be too surprised -- you have a wonderful backstory with your family.
+Robert Wilson III that's not enough, im sure there are tens and thousands of ppl like his background that's in community college
There are people out here getting rejected by community college and shit
try to sit down and study instead of yapping and finding an excuse for your laziness?
The young man poured his heart out. You know there is such a thing called dedication, you might want to try it.
LOL! Some people can't take a joke!!
+Kristen Nichole He was clearly not joking.
Changer I feel like I've seen this same exact comment in a different video
Getting into college is only like 10% of the battle.
1%
but it is one of the most important 1%
untrialser Probably the 1% most important of your life
...
Harvard is the place for students like this who have high intelligence and come from an ancient civilization.

You are the american dream come to life dude
I know who I would have been cheating on in class. Graduating with two degrees? Man, you can't beat that. Congrats to you Chase.
Five seniors from my school got into Harvard Early Decision, and there are only 61 students in the graduating class. Eighty Percent of the class got into Harvard, complete insanity.
I'm sorry to break it to you, but 5/61 is not 80%, it's 8%. Still impressive nonetheless.
That's statistically galvanic -- What high school do you go to?!
Beyond Religion damn that’s mean
Wow! He's graduating with his masters and bachelors in the same year??
Is that even possible?
well done for gettin in! Harvard is my dream university too and I kept thinking it's far-fetching for me. But lately, I decided to apply to Harvard because you live only once. I just want to know if I will get accepted or reject. anyway, Chase Hu is quiet a handsome guy

William Hinson 32 is nothing and u had no extracurriculars
Youngbo Shim 32 is substantial just not harvard criteria wise but baseball is an extracurricular..
Tbh your stats are pretty common among USC undergrads. Also, most of the kids admitted had leadership roles in high school, not just 1 sport.

XG ELTIGRE537 That’s not true. Average Scored are 35-36 but people can get in with lower scores depending on their circumstances

How is working at ib helping the society? Not trying to diss anyone but trying to get rich is no longer cool to say
you gotta have money first before you do anything worthwhile
Research about IB before you talk shit about it... it literally runs the economy and creates hundreds of thousands of jobs each year
Jon Trollston If you really think that's why people do IB you're delusional.
??? xDD
Never did I state that's why people go into IB -- of course they do it for the money! However, they create tremendous value within the economy and do more good than harm
no.
unless you have some other amazing factor that makes you stand out. {honest talk here}.
What's the song in the background?
Wow, this guy is amazing!
Why are all the comments 5-6 years ago? TH-cam's recommendation lol

Taz Lucy you don't need to go to Harvard to change the world, in fact, the people who created the biggest changes in the world didn't go to college
you dont need a lot of money to go to harvard. school's with large endowments are able to provide huge amounts of financial aid
+Elisa Flores really ?
+Elisa Flores I'm from iraq , :-(

😢😢😢😔😰😓
As an Asian... these kind of videos are embarrassing
reason?
RainbowPoptart because he, along with other asians, were not accepted into harvard or another elitist school
Moood lol
Me too, I feel like if my parents pushed me way more harder, I could get the best grades. But they don't believe in pushing their children to the limit. Sadly.

~trump 2016/17~
livingintheukandting damn save some pussy for us
a high IQ score and supporting trump are mutually exclusive
How he got into Harvard? One answer: Asian
GhostSnipz Asian? Does Harvard want Asian students?
Hayeong Seo its bc theres the stereotype in the u.s that asians are smarter, but what happens is a lot of times they are disciplined and study hard :)
Tae Bae I didn't know that. Thanks
You should not be, all asian people look pretty much the same... no offense.
