Is there any difference between EC-CH2B and EC-HD2B other than the USB TYPE A and C? Do they have different hardware inside? Do they both support writing on both HDD? What is the MAXIMUM CAPACITY? 2 x 20 TB or 2 x 10 TB? Or more? Thank you!
The cloning function: I understand that the cloning function is not incremental, so it will take a long time for large disks. Still, it cost less than. 50$ and a similar product for OWC costs close to 100$ and has no cloning whatsoever. The OWC is nicer and this one you have to cover but clearly in terms of value and functionality this is better. If you want incremental cloning (for example for outside backup) you can use your computer and software like rsync (free and comes with Linux and mac) or something more user-friendly and with better functionality like Carbon Copy Clonner.
It looks great and I was about to get two, but reviews on amazon mention it corrupts GPT partitions of some (WD Red for one) drives? Is still solved? Thanks
@@SabrentUSAOfficial Your response doesn't exactly instill confidence for a purchase. You didn't produce a solution to the original concern and known issue of GPT corruption in partitions either.
I've just plugged in my brand new Sabrent USB Type-C 2.5 & 3.5 Inch Dual Bay Hard Drive Docking Station and seems to be working BUT when my mac goes to sleep it stops the connection to the drive and displays a disk not ejected properly error window which I could live with. My big problem now is how to eject the drive from the enclosure since disk utility and finder don't "see" the drive currently, any thoughts? Is there a manual eject drive button the drive I'm not finding?
I just bought that from Amazon UK, I have plugged the HDD and the SSD as per instructions and started to do a clone drive to the SSD. Two things not mentioned here, does the SSD need to be formatted prior to the cloning. I have the blue 25% blinking but not sure if it carries on or it will be stuck there!!!
does the fresh hard drive/ssd need to be activated and formatted first to be able to use it for drive cloning? or can you use it to clone right off the bat?
If this is used as a daily read and write tool for extra drives to my always on PC, is it bad for HDDs to be spinning constantly? Vs. SATA to motherboard plugin where the MOBO knows how to turn off the drives to keep them from going bad too soon?
I recently picked up a similar model, DS-UTC2. It doesn't allow for hot swapping drives. You have to eject both drives and turn the dock off to install or remove a drive. Otherwise you risk damaging the drives or corrupting their directories... Is that also true for this model?
@@vandread3555 I gave the Sabrent to a coworker and bought a Startech brand. The Startechs I've had in the past and my new one, never had this issue. You can safely "Eject" (dismount) a drive from one bay without affecting the mounted drive in the other bay... Sabrent makes many nice form factors, like the one above, and their pricing is significantly cheaper. They are just less convenient, such as not being able to unplug one drive while another is in use. Say you are doing a data recovery which may take a few days, you can't change (put in, take out or swap drives) in the second bay during that recovery time, you have to wait till it's finished, dismount the drives in there, then make the change.
Even though Sabrent didn't respond. I hope they have read so they at least understand there is a issue here and are taking steps to rectify the problem. Also, if anyone has Sabrent models that are "Hot-Swappable", I hope they speak up. Also, the Data Copy feature works really well, and can in some cases give an extra ability for data recovery. This is Not a feature on the Startechs I own.
Is it fine to leave it plugged in I had similar stuff like that where you can connect a hard drive to a computer via usb like that but if you left it plugged in too long without a drive in it it would fry itself so is it fine le leave it plugged in or will it fry itself

I've a Question. If I put two 1TB HDD in the Docking Station... can I just use them both as an External HDD?, like a pendrive, to view and save my new and old files?
So, can I take my HDD out of my laptop and clone it to a SSD, operating system and all then just plug the SSD back in the laptop and boot up as normal including the D partition with the windows restore on it??
If you clone your HDD to an SSD then yes, we have a tutorial on our TH-cam Channel that goes over cloning one drive to another with some helpful tips, it’s far more in-depth than I can do in a comment but if you have any issues, then our support team are always here to help
When I try to clone a 1Tb ssd to a 1Tb ssd it flashes 25% for maybe 20 seconds and appears to stop. Any ideas? Could the target drive be bad or something?
I bought a new in the box model EC-DSK2 and it arrived non functional as it will not read a disk or show up in diskpart or windows disk management on 2 different pcs...So Sabrent was a big fail when I needed it..buying a different brand..maybe a wavlink
There is no reason to have a USB-C on 3.0 usb electronic. The device is not faster and more expensive. This will transfer at USB-A 3.0 speed. it's like putting a "turbo" sticker on your minivan lol
Im currently using one to clone a 3.5"HDD to a 2.5" SSD. Its taking a rather long time. Ive been stuck at the 100% flashing lights for like 2 hours now. It seems like its not working. Both of these drives are 2TB and I think im doing something wrong. But not sure.
The 2TB is an approximation. A 2TB HDD and a 2TB SSD make not have the same capacity and then there there is the geometry. This functionality is more for dump cloning identical devices. If you are on Mac or Linux use rsync and if you are not or you like a beautiful interface and more functionality use Carbon Copy Cloner. This will give you incremental backups. If you have many of these machines and it's for distribution for example then use identical drives.

About how long would it take to clone a 2TB SSD that's got about 100GB of data on it to a 4TB SSD?
Most non- intelligent cloners copy the empty space as well, so, likely several hours for a 2 TB source drive (I'd guess 8-9 hours!)
Will you be able to connect it to a media player?
Depends on the media player, you will have to check with the manufacturer to see if external storage is available
