Hey Paul, I have been doing most of these lessons using PuTTY but also XRDP which I highly recommend, very easy to set up. I've also been using ChatGPT - not to actually complete any code but to ask it questions about python and how it works. This has helped me create solutions that maybe I hadn't thought about before. Between you and all these tools it's such a glorious experience!
Very good lesson to get people to use Putty. I actually connect to my RPi with Putty and VNC at the same time because some things are easier with one rather than the other. Putty seems to be faster than using a terminal window in VNC. BTW if you want to make the Putty window easier to read you can right click on the top window bar then click Window, Appearance, Font settings/Change and then make the font size bigger. I use this when I'm making videos of my solutions.
I've made a video on my Multi Function keypad for Raspberry Pi & Pico, in case anyone is interested. Here's the link th-cam.com/video/Hw4A-RvcqgU/w-d-xo.html
Great lesson as always !!!! Because this is a remote application I was wondering if you could show quickly in lesson 40 or a future lesson, how to make the security program run at boot up? When you have a power outage like many of us experience from time to time it would be a good idea I think to have the security program run automatically when the raspberry pi boots up again. Thanks much.
Sir i am amazed that you dont know that you can also set a static ip for your Rpi without touching the router. You just need to know some simple networking commands for that. Going through CCNA will help you a lot if you dont know the networking stuff.🙂 While i am still enjoying your lectures a lot. Thanks again.😀
@@paulmcwhorter I can see how Putty is useful for headless project deployment but but with VNC you can stay headless for development as well. I have not had a keyboard, mouse or monitor attached to my Pi since week one of your lessons.
Am I being stupid? I thought that this lesson was on how to connect to your RPi from your PC/Mac etc with PUTTY! Did I miss something? I do sometimes miss the important stuff🙃
@@charlotteswift No, you missed nothing. This was about SSH’ing to an RPi from a PC. Not a Pico in sight. Pico W lessons start in January, and I am really looking forward to them! Is the Pico W really the Arduino killer?
Sorry Larry, but you must be a little confused. This lesson was about enabling SSH on the RPi and then connecting to it from a PC with SSH. Doing that with a plain Pico would not be possible, however with a Pico W you could have some sort of WiFi access, but you would have to code the server side on the Pico W yourself. Kind regards, Ian
mr.paul, i have an old raspberry pi (raspberry pi (c)2011.12)and i can't work with him because it's old. i've tried to install raspbian but it didn't work. am i have to buy raspberry pi 4?
Thanks Paul! Older lessons are clicking together. I just dont understand why my Pi has screen resolution issues. But that will be fixed soon.

Thank you! Remote access is so cool. This and the next video are great!
Slow down! You are doing like 5 videos a day! LEGEND!
Thanks again Paul for the great lesson. Looking forward to the next great lesson next time.
Glad you enjoyed it
As always learned something new today watching Paul's videos. Thanks for all you do.
Actually I love Putty, and would much rather use it that VNC. Such a simple clean solution.

So the time comes, 8 December ...
THIS was a great lesson on how to connect to pico from rpi with PUTTY!

Also possible to SSH into your RPi using PowerShell
Thanks for the tip, I did not know that.
