Another great vid mate looks a nice place love the minimalistic approach keeps everything compact. Look forward to the next one, you know it makes sense 👍
The bunker was blown up after the war to stop kids going in and a possible collaspe, wanted to get closer to see what was left but wasn't to be. Pleased you liked the video, atb Damian.
Thanks Chris, pleased you found it interesting, I only hope there are some nice days left to be able to get out again as the weather has now turned for the worst.
Loved this video and your back to basic minimalist kit
mack tightwad Its more satisfying keeping it basic, its good training in case it does hit the fan then we have the basic skills to survive, thanks for watching
enjoyed the film... looking forward to watching a few more from you...
thanks
Outstanding vid my friend. When i talked to you as you were leaving home i was hoping for another cracking video and you did not disapoint . Keep them coming.. Chris.
"The more I try to brush off the leaves the more I push it into the meat" hahahahaha comedy gold. Great video enjoyed it a lot. Thumbs up.
Brilliant video! I think I was your 500th subscriber! Love the video mate, keep it up!
actually went and had a look for the ob my self. Found a few nice places to camp around the area. I ended up sat having a brew mid afternoon in the woods on my own it was awesome. Keep up the good work pal.
Steve Brookes That woodland is quite a good place, not too far to get there by walking but far enough to away from people and easy enough to stay stealthy and hidden
Well presented and very enjoyable vid mate...subbed and looking forward to more of your work :)
I think the fish was called Old Bill or George or something lol.. Its been 30 years since we last camped down there near the Burn with the army cadets, nice to hear from you Bro and thanks for watching.
lol, nice way to secure the bike Fell, classic and it worked. good setup that. fire could have been a little bigger for my tastes but hey ho, each to their own lad. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Moose
Enjoyed that very much .
Beautiful countryside there .
Cracking video mate enjoyed It from here in broomhill Northumberland
brilliant yet again buddy
Great video looks like you had a great time .
Enjoyed that bud! Nice to find another from our region too! Hope your bike was still there! lol!
The bike was still there and was well hidden, I wasn't too bothered about getting it nicked as its an old bike made from spares lying around, we are lucky to live up here, its quite scenic and there are lots of places to explore, thanks for you comment.
HI Damian great video i see you love it out there i just subscribed and look foeward to more videos
I too have one of the Coleman duel fuel stoves. Works great, but it's a touch heavy for long range packing. Cooking on a fire is awesome though. Thanks for a fun video!
Nice one. Recognising the railway line and trying to figure out where that is, great fun.
Cracking little trip and camp 👍
Good watching that video! Nice one, subbed as well! All the best!
Damien, The Younger. Says me from 2023, watching the old Fell Wanderer films. I like the honesty.
Ha ha.. I should take more care of it but the bike was built from old spares lying around so is a bit of a wreck anyway, thanks for watching atb Damian.
Great vid mate, really enjoyed it. I have a lot of the same kit as you, You really can't beat good, solid, reliable kit : ) Subscribed for sure!!
Absolutely fantastic video! A pleasure to watch. I subbed, keep them coming :)
Haha, launch that bike!! ;-) good vid mate, very enjoyable watch. Cheers
I gave credit to Stephen Lewins on the video when using the pics, didn't know how to contact him personally. I will also add a link to the British Resistance archive
Hi m8 nice no nonsense wild camp. Just subbed
I really enjoyed this vid, thanks for taking us along. I liked you found an old WW2 bunker, we don't have any of that history laying around here in the USA. Great knot work too btw...
Enjoyed it. Thank you. PJF
Great vid mate, I love your minimalistic approach, Pity about the Aux OB, I'm sure there must be a few out there that never got demolished! Good BOV too, ATB
Thanks, its getting colder now so might only be one or two wild camps left this year but I will try and do one soon.
My new fav youtuber
thanks you, pleased you enjoyed it.
i love the way you parked your bike lol
Thanks for watching pleased you enjoyed it
Another good video and you have a good sense of humour
John Grealey the wife would disagree about the sense of humour lol but thanks, atb, Damian
Thanks for replying to me i enjoy watching your videos there very good keep them coming mate
proper british camping mate nice one .i really like your style out and about exploring just like it use to be.sir i wish you the very best thanks
My kind of camping out exactly! Low tech, no hype and absolutely no omigods! I think I would have scrambled a couple of eggs into that rice, broken into a small plastic bottle with a teaspoon of milk and a bit of pepper before you go. Thanks for posting!
Great video :)
Nice knots good sir!
Great vid
NICE Job
Hi, Love your videos! You deserve 10 times the subscribers yo have! How often do you upload?
Thank you, I upload on average one per month and I'm hoping to get out in the Lake District in next week or so. ATB
nice on mate cracking vid alb
There are some that never got blown up probably because they were forgotten about, thanks for watching
Great video and really sincerely thanks for sharing a bit of good history and acknowledging brave men that step forward when called to duty. As for the bike getting pinched I did not know that bikes can be pinched? LoL. Maybe stolen but pinched? when made of metal and aluminum? I do really enjoy the idea of outdoor adventures including the mountain bike use.
Pinched also means stolen here in Northern England.. the bike is just made up from bits lying around so I'm not too careful about loosing it lol..
Great camp site. Watch those crossings.
Cheers mate and thanks
I try not to carry too much water, always planning a trip where I can procure and boil, I always carry water purification tabs as a backup, my minimalistic approach means I carry a one litre bottle and its easy to drop one tablet in to purify a litre of water, we are lucky here in the UK there is water everywhere because it rains most of the time :-)
Thank you for watching my friend
Hi. That was nice. I just subscribed. Keep them coming !
I use exactly the same Thermarest as you. I think I am quite a bit taller than you though. I use it together with a closed cellfoam mat of about one meter length,
which is also perfect to sit on next to the fire. I also use it to kneel on paddling my canoe. Cheers.
I have to say the Prolite isn't as comfortable as my Thermarest Toughskin which is a little thicker, its a compromise between comfort and weight/pack size, I wake up sometimes feeling a little sore on my hips but nothing too bad, if I were camping for more than a couple of nights I'd take a thicker mat, I've not got cold using only the Prolite in temperatures down to around 4 degrees C, so its still a decent mat, thanks for the sub and for watching
nice vid enjoyed watching subbbed keep up the vids.
Thanks, I will have a look at those wood gas stoves I've not seen them before, they seem to work off the same principle as a rocket stove and will burn more efficiently than my homemade hobo stove.
Great video mate! When will damians woodland kitchen be available on DVD lol.
Nice video wouldn't have been taking savoury rice though that takes long enough even at home haha!
Been working my way through your video's.
Me and 2 friends do a lot of wild camping up the Brecon Beacons.
I was a little disappointed I didn't see your trade make instant mash in this one
Off the top of my head I cant remember what I had to eat for that vid, I think it was savory rice which took forever to boil with chops and burgers, mash is boring on its own but fills you up, best to mix lots butter, salt, pepper and gravy, the way I look at it, so long as you have mash and some kind of meat, you have a meal
Awesome camp out! Looks like a fun place to explore. You have a pretty cool channel, Sub'd!
-Jacko
Thank you for watching.
I've now added a link to your website in the description of the video
Nice vid mate enjoyed watching, we're gonna need a bigger fire tho lol!! Atb lee
TBH, I should have started off with a bigger fire then cooked later on the coals, the fire was too small and failed to retain the heat.
Great vid mate, enjoyed it, i need ta get out me sel , love the autum stealth camps, were in the northeast are ya ? Atb john
Good stuff, yeah a stove can make cooking a bit easier, pity they shut those underground shelters, you can see why but they would be a good place to wildcamp if the weather really bad.Always like your style of wildcamping..... i'm a gearhound atb Eddie.
you're crazy man...
but I Love this video! thanks for sharing
Thank you, life's too short so go out and enjoy the things you love doing..
nice one bro! 30 years since you, me and Gib ,were down the pike pond ! i wonder if the biggin is still there ? not by the look of the weeds eh!
Only just found your channel mate but enjoying vids ....
Making a effort to sub smaller independent channels.
Like a product reveiw as much as the next gear junky but some channels are all about product placement & gushing over freebies .rather than honest reveiws .
U had me in stitches on the squeal little piggy video. Haha
To be honest I'm not in it for anything other than enjoying been outdoors and sharing my thoughts and ideas with others, pleased you enjoyed the scene from Deliverance lol, thanks for watching.
To bad you didn't make it to your original destination. Would of been phenomenal to see the underground.
Anything you wouldn't do... lol I'm on it!
cheers
not a prepper but i do learn a lot about prepping
never seen someone use a bike as a bugout vehicle
i like it
You are the funniest dude on TH-cam mate
colin brown Thanks I appreciate that, although I'm just myself and come across dry most of the time according to others
Great video love looking bk on these for inspiration cheers Damien...p.s do you here from mancamper 66 hop he's OK 👌
Love the comment of your dinner running off.
lol.. who needs a fridge when your food is fresh and running around, thanks for watching..
I haven't seen many of your videos yet but enjoyed the ones I have watched. . . What is the air mat you used and were do you get it from ?
+jacky Parker The mat is a Thermarest prolite, purchased from Go Outdoors in Newcastle upon Tyne. Great for lightweight back packing but being quite thin can feel a little uncomfortable and cold during winter/early spring. There is a sweet spot with air pressure and comfort, too hard or soft and it doesn't feel as good as Thermarest's thicker mats. its a compromise between light/compactness and comfort. Thanks for watching.. Damian
Do you ever have any problems with ticks? Bracken being tick land?
What pack are you using ?
I've been thinking of getting the snugpak sleeka 35 . Yours looks like it . If it is , how do you like it ?
The pack I'm using is the Karrimor Sabre 35, there is a review of it on my video called "Woodland overnight wild camp with gear review", I like it because its not too big but fine for a couple of days camping, it makes you think carefully what to put in as its only 35 liters but that's part of the challenge of being minimal and choosing the right gear to put it, the pockets are 5l each and just the right size for the Crusader Cook Set.
Great video mate! Just wondering what the dimensions of the basha is?
Thanks for the comment, the basha is about 8'4"x7'4" (2.54m x 2.24m) and weighs about 1170g, great reliable piece of kit
just straight down the hatchet lol no chewing required
Thanks for the comment, have subbed you back, ATH, Damian
Two words, mate.
Pit fire. (Better stealth & burns small fuel more efficiently.)
Bruce Hodson I did make the fire too small for cooking and a pit would have been better, thanks for watching
What's the dif from the full size roll mat?
The prolite length is shorter, I'm not sure by how much but with me being 5' 6", the mat covers down to my knees with only my feet and calves not covered but they never seem to get cold and if I'm lying in the fetal position the mat just about covers me.
Looks like Yeti country. Power line cuts are known to be Squatch highways all over the world.
+Biting Mongeese - Geoffrey Bynoe They have been spotted in Harwood forest about 10 miles from that location so its possible they could be around there.
straight lines catch the eye
Is there any dangerous animals or dangerous love
HAHAHA your funny as f%@k..great video..thanks for posting
Don't worry, Big Foot lives here in Tennessee :)
He may live here as well, its quite squatchy here in Northumberland on the Scottish Border lol
Wouldn't be one Bigfoot lurking with intent. Would be a family unit or a hunting party.
where did you get your bivy bag from
+oliver hill I bought it from an army surplus store on Ebay, can't remember who but there are many suppliers and reasonably priced.
Drink tea mate. Coffee dehydrates you.
your lucky you don't have to worry about bears like me here in Canada,
kobakgb We are lucky here in the UK there are no really bad animals to worry about when camping unless you camp in a farmers field full of bulls
Thanks for the comment, I'm 15 miles north of Newcastle near Ashington, camping in Autumn is nice although the nights are getting long and really cold now, will need to invest in some cold weather gear and get some more videos made. Atb Damian.
