Excellent video! Extremely helpful. Thank you!
LETS GOO IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!
Yes another tier list!!!
Great video! So I am a short axis sprinter along with some free (100,some 200, 50). I love my venzo and am about to try a pure intent. But I’ve heard lavishing praise on the gx 5 Mr for breaststroke. Would you recommend it more than the venzo or pure intent? I know this video isn’t completely oriented toward this topic but I am curious.
Have you ever tried funky trunks tech suit range? Just wanting to know what your thoughts about them😅
Good stuff
I’m a 100 fly swimmer, and have used the Venzo in the past for HS state. I was thinking about making the switch to the shockwave. Do you think it is worth making the switch with all the new tech in the shockwave vs the venzo (I know you ranked the shockwave lower in the tier list, but I still thought I should ask because if my specific event)
I agree 100%
This list is awesome- do you have any recommendations for someone who pretty much races all sprint events but breaststroke, has some budgetary constraints and also cannot get mizunos(in Aus)?
Not sure what is good value in Oz, basically get the highest on this list you can afford
How often should you get a new tech suit
The mizunos are something else, I had the 3st for like 3 years and it's pretty good I use it in some little time trials and it's just great, the Brazilian hammer head was alright 😂it ripped like month ago since I gave it to a friend to try 😢
Hi sonny, great video. I am looking into buying another suit for championship season, but am debating which suit I would like to get. I swim basically everything but specialize in the 200 fly/ 400 IM, what suit would you recommend buying? For context I have worn the Mizuno GX sonic V mr and loved it, though I felt as though it was lacking for backstroke, which sucked because I swim backstroke on relays for my club team. I also own a venzo but am not quite sure if I like it as much. Any advice would be appreciated.
Could try the Neo SL? A 3 MR would be the ultimate suit if you can find one
Good insight into brands as always, but don’t take for granted Quality Training, Better Technique & The Mental approach for racing better.
I see it week in week out, where swimmers with the most basic / old suits winning at galas with incredible times…
Would all these suits be good for a 200 freestyle?
What tech suit do I buy for distance my main events are 4 free, 8 free, mile
What is the name of the Speedo cap that you had in the background that had one Litchfield written in it?
Hello mate! Not sure if you've reviewed it but is the arena powerskin ST any good? Looking for a decent sprint suit for masters swimming that won't break the bank
ST is not a sprint suit, barely a tech suit. Go on eBay or look for deals on discounted proper tech suits, or just get a Mizuno and be stoked!

Loved the ranking! I realized though I prefer more flexible suits (carbon air and carbon air2) for like 50-200 Breast. What suit would you recommend for these distances?
I know this is an old video, but i swim all of the 100’s (mainly the fly back and free, but i do swim the breast) and the 50 free. I typically wear a venzo, but i’ve been meaning to get a new one, which one could you recommend?
Try the shockwave www.swimoutlet.com/products/tyr-mens-shockwave-high-waist-camo-jammer-tech-suit-swimsuit-8211689/?teamid=47870&
Do you think the shockwave would be a good suit for the 200 and 100 fly I usually wear a venzo but might switch it up? Also great video!
Hi Sonny! Great Tier list! I was wondering if you could do a review on Funky Trunks Apex Predator tech suits? And are they good for sprinting? I also am wondering which suit would be better for sprinting between the TYR Avictor and Arena Carbon Air 🤔
I wouldn’t do Funky for sprinting.
Air and Avictor and good for middle d. Air If you want low waist, Avictor if high waist.
Hi, I’m not too sure if ur still replying to these comments but I’ve been debating for a while about what tech suit I want. I mainly do 50-200 and I’m primarily a breaststroker and a freestyler, and I would really appreciate it if you can recommend to me what would be good for breaststroke. I really like tighter suits because I want as small of a gap between my knees but also something that supports my hips
Mizuno MR for sure please use my affiliate! www.swimoutlet.com/products/mizuno-mens-gx-sonic-v-multi-racer-tech-suit-swimsuit-8191839/?teamid=47870&
I’m usually a L for sonic V mr and am thinking about getting the st. Once I got on the sonic Mr once it was easy to get on after that. Is it ok if I stick with a L for the st? Or should I go a size up to XL still?
Stick with L, just have fun putting it on, please use my affiliate link :) www.swimoutlet.com/products/mizuno-mens-gx-sonic-v-sprinter-tech-suit-swimsuit-8191840/?teamid=47870&
Do you think arena suits are worth it for sprinters. I mainly do 50 free and 100 fly. Sometimes 100breastroke. I am currently using arena carbon core fx and carbon glide. Do you have any suit recommendations.
I am a 13.5 year old swimmer thats a sprinter to mid distance swimmer and swim basically every stroke but my main events are all the breastroke events and the 200 IM, should I go for the arena carbon core fx or the speedo LZR pure intent?
How do you get the muzino suits in the uk? I can't find them anywhere online
Gallop stroke freestyle tips soon? Also, do Mizuno suits have silicone waistbands at all? I've seen images and it doesn't look like they have them. I feel like silicone waistbands are much more integral than silicone leg grippers, so if they are absent, are the effects significant?
I recently purchased my first mizuno and noticed that they don't have the silicone waistband. I, like you, was worried as well since I came from the speedo pure intent. When racing, I didn't really notice it being leaking or anything because the mizuno waistband hugs your hips and is really waterproof. It would give me peace of mind if they added it in the future just because I like the grippy feeling of the silicone waistband, but I don't really think it makes a difference.
yes yess yessssss
I swim 100 fly (primary) and 50 free. Underwaters and turns are the strongest part of my races. I typically wear a venzo, im thinking about a shockwave, what do you think.
I think it’s worth a go, the hamstring support will feel snappy in the UWs
@theswimsuitguy, what about people racing 800m and 1500m? Would you make a list for those not doing sprints?
Hey Sunny if you ever respond I have a question? I’ve only wore like 2 suits which was a carbon glide and some Adidas one that I saw was like 50 bucks on Amazon. And I’ve surprisingly have gotten decent results from both. So my question is, do sprint suits actually make that much of a difference because I’ve never been able to wear one quite yet?
is the sizing for the gx sonic v st the same as the iv st?
V ever so slightly tighter/smaller, give it a try, buy through my affiliate link :)

I wear size 30 for arena carbon air and I am interested in buying mizuno..... do I have to buy the same size or smaller if buying mizuno
30 Carbon Air would probably be XL Mizuno! Buy from my link here www.swimoutlet.com/products/mizuno-mens-gx-sonic-v-sprinter-tech-suit-swimsuit-8191840/?teamid=47870&
why tyr avictor is not for sprint? Are they suitable for 400Im or 200IM?
This list has pleased a lot of swimmers Boy.
I main in 100 fly, 100 back and 200 free, what would you recommend? I wore a Venzo last year for the fly and back as well as 50 free and 500 free. I like the compression it provided but it’s small now and I’m looking to upgrade. (Just wore it earlier today for 100 back and it hurt the front of my thighs a lot) I know you tend to like Mizuno but I can’t easily get those where I live (
US but I wasn’t able to find many mizuno options on swimoutlet
Yeah I just checked again and the SL is sold out of my size and it’s on the final sale
Have you tried the A3 suits? I've heard that they are the most technologically advanced suit and I would like to hear your opinion on them!
I haven’t but they aren’t, same factory as Finis, Engine etc nothing unique about them really
🔥🔥🔥
How does one manage to get their hands on SONIC III or a SONIC IV ??? For me its really difficult to order one, living in Europe. Do you have any insight on this Sony ?
3s and 4s are harder to get as not current models, eBay or Japanese marketplaces are best bet
@@TheSwimsuitGuycan you share the sites pls? Of the japanese websites
As someone who races a bit of everything, obviously it’s best to have a sprint suit and a md/distance one. For 50/100 fly/free, what’s your go to?
@@TheSwimsuitGuy definitely expected that! And for ease of availability in the UK 🇬🇧
What would be your budget choice for 100 back and 200 free, I swim for hs and a club
I wear Mizuno and I would recommend GX Sonic V MR and GX Sonic IV ST, I'd buy both from ebay.
What suit would you recommend for swimming 50 free, fly, breast?
I'm a high school/club swimmer, low 24 seconds for 50 free, I'm thinking of buying my first tech suit, do you have any recommendations?
Edit: I would also like somewhat inexpensive as I don't really have a ton of money to spend on a tech suit
Fire 100% right
I really want a mizuno tech suit just my mon dont allow it.
I kinda want a mizuno suit. Where can i buy one? I live in europe.
On ebay man, they are shipped from Japan and are far cheaper than buying them fron Mizuno North America
Bass man is here
2024 tier list sooner ?
Loved the ranking! GX-SONIC III ST and GX-SONIC V Is there a big gap between the two equipment in 100 freestyle?
Would these be good to use for 200m free if we never race any further than that?
What are the best tech suits for breastroke?
Mizuno for sprint still imo.
Pure Valor if not as that’s Ilyas fave suit! Arena are also a good option.
as a highschool 100BR and 200IM swimmer whos looking for a budget option which of these do you think is for me?
Budget would be Valor, you get those cheap these days. Or an OG Carbon Air
@@TheSwimsuitGuy thank you! i’ve never competed with a tech suit so i’m excited!
Can you do a tech suit tier list for breastroke?
I swim mostly every event but I swim these events mostly, 200 Free, 50 Free, 400 Free, 100 Breast and 100 Back. What suit should I get
www.swimoutlet.com/products/arena-mens-powerskin-carbon-air2-jammer-tech-suit-swimsuit-8185098/?teamid=47870&
If you have to wear Speedo and swim 100/200+ Valour over Intent. Still love my Carbon Pro tho 🤣.
It's crazy to see that Mizuno GX Sonic 3 is still ranked one of the top tier tech suit after quitting swimming for almost 6 years😂
Carbon Pro as well... those are superb.
I think we are at a point where suits are stagnant. No one is innovating. Mizuno are improving longevity and everyone else is trying to catch up with 2015 Mizuno
Are ST good for breast?
Just bought an Arena Air2. I remember u telling that its an amazing suit but it was stolen, right?
Why are the speedo and arena suits so much more expensive than a funky trunks top suit?
@@TheSwimsuitGuy Is there any particular reason why or are they just a lower speed and quality?
I know I’m a bit late, but felt his answered was ass. There is a huge difference in suits, and the brands you should be looking at is arena, speedo, mizuno & tyr(prob missed some).
FT are not an established brand and their technology is hugely sub compared to other more competitive brands. But because you are asking such a question I don’t think you should worry about it. The suit only becomes important if the swimmer is already older and considered good.
Don’t worry about the suit until you start qualifying and/or are around age of 14-15+.
Sitting here watching sprint tech suits being rated for 15 minutes, whilst having a 50m PB of 50s. One day....
We all know the finis rival 2.0 is the best suit. B tier… really? 🤔🙄
It’s not got enough compression for true sprint life ;) of course each to their own
