She's a keeper (the young lady, not necessarily the car, LOL). Anyone who would keep their pleasant demeanor despite pressure-washing an old Volvo in the cold, then sitting in said Volvo whilst broken down in a carpark, deserves special consideration.

"The things you do for Volvos." A very true statement! Call the car Bill. If you squint, the car's current number plate BII 940 can be read as BIL 940, bil being the word for car in Swedish ^^ If you can, remove the black plastic shroud from the distributor cap, as it can be a bit of a moisture trap and doesn't serve any real purpose. All it does is prove that you have an OEM cap.
First name that came to mind was Almira Gulch - same character as (but slightly less on-the-nose than) the Wicked Witch of the West, from the Wizard of Oz. Because she can’t get wet or she’ll die. Love the car though. I’ve got a 92 740 with at least 325k miles and the thing is indestructible. Good on you for rescuing it!
My bro did tell me to make a full half an hour of it, may have done but the breakdown threw a spanner in the works, literally! Thanks for the suggestion, but i've already changed the plate 😉
The car wash made a big difference! 😃 I look forward to seeing more movies on this car. I vote for 940 turbo rims on this one, they are called "Hydra". 😊 I have a Volvo 740 station wagon Turbo Intercooler 1990 with the same color. It looks exactly the same. Without rails but with sunroof. Good luck with the project, from Sweden😎🇸🇪
When you're done cleaning and fixing that 940 Turbo you can send it to me in Australia. I will have it. it's gorgeous. My second car was a Holden HR Premier wagon. Silver paint on the body, white on the roof. I wish I had not sold it. Your Turbo is worth fixing and keeping. Jelly.
Man, that side by side shot is awesome! I love watching pressure washers clean old grimy cars up! Fantastic video as always! I can't wait to see what's next for this old girl. I wish I was good with naming cars, but I typically just keep old names alive from previous owners!
I’m just in love with old Volvos You are guys just great 👍 I have one 940 diesel estate and one v70 which I have buy 2 years ago in 🇩🇪 Greetings from Ukraine
Was gonna say it was like watching your bro’s channel! And let’s be truthful - we’d prefer to see a 940 under the dirt rather than roof tiles lol. How odd that it cut out like that but definitely think water in the dizzy cap was to blame. Great video buddy
Now this car looks a heaven better! Decent job, should also pass TUV/DEKRA technical test on control station. You are a magician as I'm still impressed this brick grandpa's are passing it. You are indeed Volvo passioner! 🤠✌️
The grime removal was so satisfying! I know you will give her a proper polish as well! I'm no good at naming cars - my 240 I've had since 2014 and still no name.
You were both very stoic under trying circumstances Sledge. Miss Involvo'd deserves a special Valentines treat that's for sure. You made a great job of cleaning the car, Sid could not have done better. How about calling the car Greta or Griselda?
Fantastic transformation. I love the look of these wagons, especially with the Turbo wheels and blacked out trim. Poor placement/protection of the dizzy if it can get wet just from an exterior wash, albeit an aggressive one.
Me too! Hopefully with a new bonnet seal we'll be good to go, it was much better when the dizzy was block mounted like on the 200/700, not sure why they changed it!
Here's a hopefully helpful hint for you about your moisture in the cap issue. I never had a problem with moisture in the distributor cap of my '90 740 GL until I replaced the cap 5 years ago with a new Bosch cap. That's when my problems started. After numerous times of the car stalling and hesitating after a rainstorm or after washing I took a good look at the new cap. That was when I noticed that it had about a 1/4" long raised indentation on the bottom. This indentation was not on my original cap and served no purpose but to allow moisture into the cap. (Maybe it was there to allow moisture out of the cap? Lol) Anyway, it was definitely the cause of my stalling/hesitating problem. So, with the cap in place I grabbed some silicone adhesive and sealed up that indentation. That was now 5 years ago and no more problem! Maybe that will help. :)
I would definitely buy a Volvo from you my friend but too bad I live in the US 🇺🇸 lol great to see that you're channel 8s continuing to grow and show people how great and underrated these cars truly are and how can I forget about the reliability my 99 Turbo V70 XC Cross Country just rolled over to 200,000 miles and still going strong
I had the very same problem with my '93 940GL. Water was passing down on the Bosch distributor. Replaced the bonnet rear seal (Skandix 1031977) problem solved. Note, up to 1994 requires plastic clips (Skandix 2017696) Hope that helps.
Certainly looks good after it's wash. I think the water got into more than the dist cap! When you switch on the ignition the speedo reads 40kph and fuel gauge on empty with warning light and no alternator light! Think the fuse board might have some water in.
Greetings from San Francisco, CA! Great video-sorry about your Saturday, but she does look much better. I’m sure your bro got a kick when you said it’s harder than. It looks! Love his vids, too. I had the same issue the first time I jet washed my 940… and then again when driving in really heavy rain. Took my distributor cap off to find a really big crack in it. New dizzy cap and rear seal and I’ve not had the problem again. Still have a lot of problems, but that’s not one of them.
@@Involvod It’s those big electrical connection points behind the strut towers… very easy to soak and leave you with a multitude of funnies. Good luck!
I think Vincent Volvo for the name :) My first Volvo was actually named by my parents. The 1970 145S was called Vilady Volvo. Even though I had a 79, 84 and 89 240 wagons and 4-door I did not name them. However, my current Volvo, a 1970 142S is named Veldora Volvo (named for the dragon in the anime "Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken") since it likes spitting fire from the Dual SU HS6's on cold start. As for the dashboard warning lights, looking at the prior video I'm not sure you had the key-on lights check before cranking before.
I think you really tested the car wash recycling system . The next person may wonder why the water is brown. Lol Maybe a play on words for a name. For being clean and losing spark. “Spark and Sparkle.” So “Sparky” is my contribution.
They bro, that was a great wash with tough results. Im glad u get home ok. I call my silver wagon the "stallion" so thats taken how bought Elvira because I think she's kind of evil for breaking down. I don't know, LOL!
Great and very satisfying video. My 700k + miles S80 will need a deep exterior clean too as it has green stuff growing on it an I don't think it has had a proper wash for a good while.
Be a little careful around the intake grating up near the windshield. Unsure about 940s but in 240s, while there are water drains built in, they aren't big enough to let sticks and leaves out. So if you wash bits of crud into it all the time, it will collect in the fenders and then hold water there. And it's a huge operation to get in there and clean it out if it does start to rust or something.
hello can you maybe help me, I have a 960 turbo that just hasn't been worked on anymore, thinking of possible faults were parts replaced, distributor, crankshaft coil sensor, ignition amplifier, that's for sure it worked for 7 minutes and it shut off if and I never worked again

Maybe the new name should be Soggy, or Moldy, or Mossy McMossface? I think the stalling and stutter is from the pressure washing. A little drying time, and maybe some new plugs and wires, etc will set the car right up.
Haha nice 😄 Yeah after re watching the first part I really sent some water behind the back of the bonnet so under normal use it should be okay, definitely wants a good service though I agree!

Haha cool kids 😎 To be honest I never used to, but I think it would get too complicated here if I didn't name them, especially as I just have the same cars over and over 😄
Mrs Involvod: "He has a story now"
Hmm yeah let's call him Tori
Thanks 😃
Name ideas:
- Neglecta ( cause she was left on the side of the road without attention for so long)
- Boxxy ( after the TH-cam cult classic and because it's, well boxxy LOL)
Oohhh just looked Boxxy up, i've seen her talked about before 😂 It would be fitting I'll give you that 🤣
this reminds me of the movie "car wash" from the 70'...
oh dear now you've gone and done it! removed all the rustproofing! LOL .. for a name you could call it the "Odjuret" the beast/monster in swedish!
Haha I did spot some rust bubbling in the middle of the wing 😬 and nice!!
Excelente 👏👏👏
🙏🙏🙏
Maybe the new name should be Soggy, or Moldy, or Mossy McMossface? I think the stalling and stutter is from the pressure washing. A little drying time, and maybe some new plugs and wires, etc will set the car right up.
Haha nice 😄 Yeah after re watching the first part I really sent some water behind the back of the bonnet so under normal use it should be okay, definitely wants a good service though I agree!
A good name would be Alfred 👌🏼
My 940 16V GLE is called Gunnar. My Volvo's have names from people that were important in the history of Volvo...
That's a great name! And I like your method!
Do a service with new sparkplugs and wires, new oil and airfilter and was the engine bay
I had the same problem with a 740 i had, with havy rain it would refuse tot run wel, i than opend the distributor cap, spraid It with WD-40, problem temporately solved
Good old WD-40! I'm keeping a can in the car just incase (a good thing to do anyway!)
Partridge Auto Cleaning?
