  • The 2002 - 2006 Corolla is the most popular car in Nigeria at the moment and it's not surprising.
There are a number of reasons why this car is at the top of the chain, and Motileke talks about all of that in this video.
These reasons have made it highly sought after and made the price skyrocket in turn. Join us on this ride. #234drive #toyotacorolla #cheapcars

One day I booked a ride and the driver pulled up with this corolla. When the journey started I was hearing lots of irregular sounds coming from different parts of the car.
As someone who loves cars and knows alot about cars. I was picking out the different sounds one after the other and telling the driver; it’s like you have a bad this and that in your car.
He felt so unbothered and said, it’s been like that for a year now I never get money to go fix am.
Like, these bad parts that’s causing the sounds in this car would keep a Lexus or any other car grounded in the mechanic.
But this corolla kept running with these problems.

Even as at 2017 you could buy this car foreign used for 1.7m Naira.
This is the strongest car I've ever owned. Fuel economy is perfect, almost any mechanic can fix almost every problem you might have with this car.
The only only issue I had with this car is that the interior is just too small. Besides that this is one of the best Toyotas ever made.

I currently use this car. It is currently the most popular car on Nigerian roads.
By the way, it is actually 2003 to 2008 not 2001 to 2005.
The reason I an many others like this car is because it doesn't develop issues like some other cars and it is VERY CHEAP to maintain. If you get a well maintained version of this car and you continue to maintain it well, the car can get to 500k miles and beyond.
You are very correct in all your points.
Some other cars are very good in some areas. For example honda civic has a very good engine but it is not very rugged in some other areas whereas the toyota corolla 2003 to 2008 ticks all the boxes. Toyota made this car to last and last.
However, a few things I don't like about this corolla are:
    Lack of ABS
A little awkward seating position. The driver seat is not well optimised as in some other cars.
Drumbrakes at the back wheels instead of disc brakes for all four wheels.
Aside from the above, the car is very good. That is why it is the number one car on nigerian roads.

The facelifted version got the ABS system.
For the brakes, what exactly do you need rear brake discs for?? The vrakes work just fine. Even the next gen Corolla has brake lining and not disc.

    • @wiolsony986
      @wiolsony986 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@stephenogon1905 I don't think I have seen a version of this car with ABS. Perhaps you are referring to the toyota corolla Altis. For the drumbrakes vs disc brakes, disc brakes seems easier to maintain.

Overhyping kee that car... It's just Uber ppl that promote that car seriously. It's fuel efficiency doesn't reach civic 2008 and civic engine last longer, moreso civic is 5 speed automatic gear.
I have people that have this car and their experience is not overboard. You top oil after some miles. It's not a car that loves travels... For city drives you may not complain about it's handling.
It's awesome car but to me, it isn't very special

To be honest you didn’t really mention why this car is this expensive, talking about more than 1m naira for custom duties on a 2001-2005 Toyota Corolla is too much and most dealers aren’t even bringing them in anymore despite how cheap they are to buy in the United state as cheap as $1500 or even less and then clearing for that huge amount is ridiculously annoying and discouraging and not good for business also

Na lie, the America spec Corolla sport with overdrive Gearbox boost like its a real sport car, it can keep up with most V6 and even use dem shine for road 😂

I think you are saying this because most V6 you've competed with don't really want to race with you or probably they are old V6 that has low horsepower... If you drive ordinary V6 Camry muscle or just try any German car with good horsepower, then you will really know Corolla sport doesn't compare at all. I used to say similar thing until I drove German machines. My brother those machines are like jet.
And most of all, at high speed say; more than 120km/h, Corolla isn't firm on road again.

The Corolla S isn't a fast car. Ordinary Honda civic of the same year will use your Corolla wipe floor. Those v6 you're talking about don't know you were racing with them. The only Corolla that can race a v6 is the Corolla XRS sold only in the USA in 2007. Your Corolla S is a slow shit box.
