You, my dear, are a wordsmith. You create entire worlds with words alone. I applaude you.
"And there, in the chair, was a child the color of snowflakes and moonbeams." And the way you speak of her eyes... chef's kiss. What a magical way of evoking an image you have. Thereto, when you speak of the preparation of teatime & meals, and all the plant varieties in forests & gardens.
Your admiration of creative arts & artists are keenly evident. You have a gentille flair from times long past, I suspect.
Please sir, may I (we) have more?

The title alone... 40 minutes of pure enjoyment, appreciation, interest, stimulation - and, beauty. It's like listening to a quartet by a favorite composer. "I had nothing to do that day, and I thought I would get up early and enjoy doing it."

A fine story. I couldn't help thinking of how my youngest child looked like he was a fairy, much as your milk white girl. My husband is Irish and I am of Irish stock. As a toddler he had snow white hair and milky skin. His green/ blue eyes slanted slightly and his body was slender with long delicate fingers. We live in Australia not the best place for such a child to grow. He is now a big hairy 35 year old with freckles from the relentless sun.
I was trying to imagine fairies here but this land, with all it's amazing variations, wouldn't, even in fantasy produce such delicate milky beings. I hope now that your summers have come to resemble ours they don't vanish from Albion's shores.

I loved this story so, so, so, so, SO MUCH. I have tears in my eyes from it----and just at the end, when the man sees his gift from the faeries---there was like a "doubling up" in my perceptions, that was almost deja vu...but not quite. And I felt the Truth of your story's words move through my heart...and recognizing that sensation, the simple nobility of this tale brought my tears. I thank you, humbly.

I didn't even realize that until you said that! lol Tony, great story, in fact, it's probably my favorite story of yours thus far! I love the little details about the Portmeirion. The only reason I even had a remote idea what that is is because this ex-bf of mine whose father was a Professor and had a sabbatical in Wales, his wife brought home several pieces of Portmeirion! This was 1996. It was so beautiful! Great story, again, and I really hope that you're able to devote all your time to your podcast and quit your day job! I listened to everything you said on the longer story that you uploaded a few days ago. I was listening to you talk about how you went to Russia of all places back in 1982! and had a little run in with the police etc. I'm glad you made it back in one piece! Wow, you've had some adventures in your life! I've been overseas too but that is quite a trip! Thank you for including us in your life's adventures and so on. But I'm glad you're in the garret just a portion of your time and presumably just hungry until you go down to lunch. I grew up with Tolkien's story so yeah I also believe in elves and fairies. My most favorite original story from you Tony. This is so good

@@ClassicGhost - I found it a strange coincidence, that you have mentioned Portmeirion pottery, in this story. The reason is, that I finally got my coveted first piece, after years of having that maker on my scavenger hunt list. You see, I am a HUGE "The Prisoner" fan! The piece that I serendipitously acquired, was one of their large Victorian Parian repro jugs...and I'm over the moon! 😆

Such a special, beautiful story. The odd thing is that earlier, I was listening to a podcast by an Irish gentleman and a Scottish fellow discussing fairies and the tales native to their countries. I slept. When I awoke I looked for one of your stories, chose this one, not knowing it would be about fairies. Anyway, my cat remained asleep next to me for the whole story. We had a lovely time listening. Thank you for such a great and wonderful tale to start my day. There are no coincidences, wasn't that said in the story?
