If u are planning to visit Himachal, dont plan a trip more than 4 days. If u r planning a trip in winter then visit only one place from 4 places i.e. shimla, manali, dharmshala and dalhousie. Everything is same at all places. In winter u will get snow at all 4 places. If u r planning in summer then visit only Manali where u can get snow. There is nothing great about site seeing. On the way what u will get to see is great than site seeing. In the name of site seeing they will take you to do activities which will b too costly.

Hi,I was trying to cover shimla,manali and amritsar starting from chandigarh.Should i take taxi(from sai tours & travels,chandigarh) from chandigarh for the whole trip or how?What should i do?please help me

Thanks.. We are not aware of travel operators in Chandigarh. We haven't explored many places in Himanchal yet, so we're not in a position to give you proper advice.

There are so many places to visit which is full of beauty and is less known . Taxi is a costly option ., you should use Himachal Road Transport corporation (HRTC) volvo buses for Manali and to Shimla from Chandigarh or Delhi .
If you want to cover Shimla then you must definately visit Choordhar peak which will be a lifetime experience for you .. Choordhar is 120 Km from Shimla and the bus route starts from New shimla bus stand - lakkad bajar - kufri - Theog - Dehan - Chopal - Sarai .
You will get cheap accomodation for 200 rupees in Sarai temple and then start your trek to choordhar in morning which is 15 km .
Shimla trip is incomplete without visiting Hatu peak Naarkanda and Choordhar peak .
Best time to visit choordhar is from May to last october , after october there is heavy snowfall and temple is also closed , there is no accomodation and food avaible during oct - April . And there will be no mobile network at summit so carry cash and dont depend on UPI.
You must use Volvo bus from Chd to Shimla and then book a cab to upper Shimla as ordinary buses are annoying .
To reach Choordhar there is an alternate route from Solan - Rajgarh - Nohradhar.
Trek starts from Nohradhar which is 24 kms ( hotels & food available at Nohradhar ) but you miss the beauty of Shimla district on this route .
Similarly kullu- Manali trip is incomplete without visiting the Parvati valley .

Uttarakhand too needs to focus on developing it's hilly regions rather than focusing on terai alone. It will help decongest the terai region and bring employment and prosperity to so far neglected hilly region of the state. People are migrating in massive volumes from hills of Uttarakhand towards the plains in search of better living.
