My old boss was raised in Rhodesia and did his military service, being 18 in 1975. He was a quirky, often difficult guy that seemed to have some very deep scars. Having watched this it’s not hard to see why he might have been how he was. This guys recollection of detail is phenomenal and is fascinating.
Those of us that were kids, teens at the time owe you guys a massive debt of gratitude for keeping us safe. Thank you. Thank your for your Service, for your commitment in the fight against the Terrs and communism, thank you for being there for us. Much respect.

I just found your channel and i am amazed by all the videos on Rhodesia you have created. I am from Germany and i am highly fascinated by the entire story of Rhodesia, learning about it became almost an obsession. It is very hard to find anything about it here, so ordering English books on the subject and searching the internet for information is all i can do. Your videos provide an unique insight and help me to expand my knowledge a lot. Thank you and keep up your good work!
Many years ago I was at School of Signals and a Scouts Sgt gave us an interest lecture, The lecture must have been part of a course he was doing and we were just a live audience, assessors were sitting at the back taking notes. His talk was on how the scouts patrol, it was just like described here. I can still see him in my minds eye. Beard, green staple belt, stocky, severe attitude, and lots of self confidence. Everyone sat wide eyed, dead quiet and enthralled.
I filmed the photo from the book “Contact” by John Lovett. You can still find copies of the book to purchase online. For example: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0869250531/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_HD5WFBBDTVP8V66VXWBX
We didn't want to be deployed at their door step. We know the target and not to alert the enemy or local villagers with noisy choppers, we walked in that hot and sometimes humid day for 20 to 30 kms for a surprise visit! Mind you, at the age of 20 no problems.
May I recommend you quickly insert an explanation while the guy is talking, for example, if he says Frantan you can flash a caption saying Napalm. And so on for important words. Would help foreign people.
Politic. The carnation revolution and when SA started putting pressure on Mr. Smith, song with the amount of Rhodesians leaving.. there was nothing they could do.
Hi Jack, thanks for the comment. I have no plans in making this kind of information public. These recordings are from our private family archive. After a film I made 9 years ago recently got a lot of interest on this channel, I decided to make more of our recordings public. This interview with my brother was recorded in 2017. There another reason why I don’t want to make such information (as a reg#) public, is that our family has been personally targeted by those in Mugabe’s office. We still have family in Zimbabwe. We will be releasing more about the intimidation and the tactics used by the CIO, but will be mindful of loved ones still there... Once again, thank you for your question 🙏
I think I may have answered this on another comment of yours... My brother elsewhere in the comments volunteered his rank and number, “Cpl Cole 95153”.
I know Rhodesia and South Africa were the first of the Western Nations to diminish (Canaries in the Coal Mine) and I always ask myself what were the lessons to be learned.... I'm sitting in the West and regrettably they are more interested in being "Woke" and "Liberal" that canary died a death a thousand times already and nobody here is any the wiser. Pity to say that the destiny of the west is finished i cant see a way to revive it.

Having watched Part 1 and thinking this is BS - now with Part 2 I am convinced it is. A lot of the facts are sound but his role is highly suspect. It doesn't hang together with the role of the SAS as I saw it in that war.
Hi Steve, many thanks for commenting and I appreciate your perspectives. Above all, thank you for your service during those times. My brother had passed SAS selection, but my parents had refused to sign the documents for him to join permanently and do the full SAS training. I think my brother clarifies this in the interview. So he continued with the regular army. He was extraordinarily fit!! And he had a natural aptitude for the military. Some of those who trained and fought with him have commented on these videos about his ability to pass the SAS selection.
I was intake 125 (1972) and what he is describing is spot on.
These are the incredible men who kept their Rhodesian women and children safe for so many years. Much respect and appreciation from one of them.
Thank you Ann 🙏 I shall pass on your comment to my brother.
