They need to try drumming in the same way Ringo did and they will realize what is actually true. Then I saw Roger Taylor on the list and lost it again. He played the drums, he sang, he wrote music. These lists just prove that the writer wants attention. In any band you will typically have a few members that stand out, for various reasons and others who are less in the spotlight. Maybe it's the instrument they play, maybe they don't write as much of the music. Who knows. What is true is that any band is by definition a team. That article is definitely a troll. Amber wrote that on purpose to get us all angry. Badly written piece of fluff done by someone who has probably never heard of any of that bands listed.
Even by the standards of such articles, this one seems really weak, not least because in an article entitled 'Great Bands That Had One Huge Weak Link', Amber Ward has managed to find 2 with both AC/DC and Oasis.
Everyone’s a critic. I LOVE Ringo, I kinda liked Diamond Dave, Sid’s image did propel the Sex Pistols (his solo version of ‘My Way’ was rough)… I gotta stop now… I mean, Ozzy!?
Jimi Hendrix Experience had Noel Redding. He was supposed to play bass but his trebly tone was too much of a distraction from Jimi's guitar. Plus he deliberately played badly in some shows just to annoy Jimi. Not very professional.
Good example- which reminds me - the drummer on “John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, Ringo, is much admired for his work on POB by many musicians these days. As John said (I think:) “he’s got the best backbeat in the business”
Amber doesn't seem to understand what defines a "great" band. The core of a truly great band is that ALL of its members contribute to the artistic success of their finest work. There are no tangible "weak" links in any great band, but methinks that Roger Waters appears to have provided the impetus for this topic of discussion by greatly minimizing the contributions of his 3 bandmates in the creation of Dark Side Of The Moon. Roger's 2003 comments are just plain goofy, but unlike Amber Ward, Waters at least was an iconic member of an iconic band. At minimum, the sonic ear candy in the Beatles and Pink Floyd's best work was enhanced by the drumming put forth by Ringo Starr and Nick Mason.
That Ringo take is absolutely psychotic lmao. In reality, really none of The Beatles were obscenely technically talented musicians. They're incredible but the reason they fundamentally changed the art form forever wasn't their technicality, it was always their OTHERWORDLY songwriting and studio innovation. Singling out Ringo specifically for not being a jazz fusion lord is just so mean-spirited. Plus, their music never shot above it's weight, it's not like they tried to write Jaco Pastorius brain-melters and just couldn't play up to snuff, their musicianship was PERFECT for the sound they cultivated and Ringo was an integral part of that sound. The Beatles aren't Weather Report or Snarky Puppy, and they're not supposed to be.
Too many outlandish claims there. Ringo was an integral part of the Beatles sound; any change would have been detrimental. I suppose the biggest jaw dropper was Roger Taylor, a hugely important member of Queen. ‘I’m in love with my car’ is a great track. Slash and Jim Morrison were a close second, but there were lots more. I checked and Amber is a girl’s name. Could it be that this was written at that time of the month when ladies reputedly get a little bit (please fill in the appropriate word here).
Obviously, anyone who doesn't get Ringo, doesn't know much about music. He gets a bad rap because toward the end of the 60's there were new virtuoso drummers coming along and Ringo's economical style seems to pale in comparisson. But he came up with brilliant parts, had a great feel and a great sound and served the band perfectly. As for Lars, as the band progressed, he just got sloppier. No Ozzy-- no Sabbath. Roger Taylor's style fits Queen and he has an amazing voice. Adam Clayton -- he gets the job done but a more interesting bassist would have given the band more dimension. Case in point: th-cam.com/video/384OE6smVZ8/w-d-xo.html
I agree with your commentary, 100%. This sounds like it was written by some uninformed yahoo who doesn't understand music history or take into account certain roles members of a band might have to assume to fit the vision of the band, i.e.: Meg White. No she was no Buddy Rich but she was not asked to be that. The band's style was basic, roots, "thump" rock. Her role was not to complicate things but to establish a deep rootsy groove for Jack to build on. She more than filled the role she was asked to fill and did it admirably. The crazy part is she is the "weak link" in a two person band where the other person was the master-mind. That is shamelessly shooting fish in a barrel. Shame on this author. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong...
Yes, this list triggered me too, there would be no Stooges without Iggy Pop, just like there would have been no Nirvana without Kurt, just a lousy list from someone who has no idea what she’s talking about.
Ok god, this is like saying:- Jan Akkerman - weak link of Focus Randy Bachman - weak link of the Guess Who Graham Nash - weak link of The Hollies Mark Boon - weak link of Diesel Kevin Cronin - weak link of REO Speedwagon Roy Webber - weak link of Wally.... In other words, she's talking bollocks. She'd probably say Roger Davies (check him out, he's cool!) was the weak link of himself!😅
She forgot: Jimi Hendrix, weak link of the Jimi Hendrix Experience Eric Clapton, weak link of Cream Nick Cave, weak link of Nick Cave and the bad seeds Jack Bruce, weak link of Cream Patti Smith, weak link of the Patti Smith group Ginger Baker, weak link of Cream
Victoria Beckham truly was a weak link and my mum and I had a theory that most of the Spice Girls' vocals were all done by Melanie C. Also 'Out Of Your Mind' with the Truesteppers was autotuned to bits.
Hello STUDMUFFIN, well if I would create a list of those who are the most useless of creating a list, I would for sure put the responsible for this list on top!! Just some examples: Roger Taylor of Queen is one of the most underrated drummers in history! He is just fantastic and a brilliant songwriter and singer too. Ringo is a great drummer and the Beatles would not have been the same without him. Gene Simmons, David Lee Roth, The Gallagher brothers in Oasis.... are all examples of great songwriters and artists who deserves deep respect for all they have done! Why do people who clearly does not understand music even bother to create this kind of crap?
Amber's list started off controversial, uninformed and just plain wrong with Ringo, then went downhill fast. I thought she couldn't get much worse until she picked on Ozzy when she hit rock bottom! Surely this has to be a video compiled purely as clickbait because it can't be a serious assessment of these band members and their contributions to their respective bands' successes.
Thank you for reading the entire thing. I stopped reading after seeing Bill Wyman. Who wrote this, a millenial? Dang. Jim Morrison? Neil Schon? Gene Simmons? REALLY??? The one that really got me annoyed was Roger Taylor of Queen. I nearly punched my computer. LOL Like you said, Roger is a superb drummer, a great singer and an excellent song writer.
I do agree that kirk hammett is a weak link of metallica. I think the bassist of nirvana (krist novoselic) is potentially a weak link too. To be fair, some of the others on the list here are potentially weaker links (and i struggle to come up with better suggestions) Limp bizkit is decent if we’re being real. At least in terms of entertainment value, I rather put on Limp bizkit than most trap rappers today…
Some of these are ridiculous. But some, in relation to the other super talented band members, do make sense. Ringo is surely a very talented drummer. But, if you compare him to John, Paul and George, he is the weakest link. Same with Linda McCartney and Yoko Ono. They have talent, but in comparison to the others.... Some here are just ridiculous, Ozzy Osbourne, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, etc.
Clickbait, Larry. Yes, everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but this is probably attention seeking, and provoking a reaction. Definitely misinformed. Some of the artists I love, Ozzy (especially solo) Kiss etc, and some I don’t, but I could not get on stage and do what they do. Even those that were not great inspired others. Just glad there is so much music out there I can choose what to listen to and enjoy. Just glad Sparks made the brother’s list that followed.
Mr Muffin We feel you wrath at Ringo being picked here but please remember that his "simplistic drumming"is down to fact that Ringo was born with only one foot. You produce them -I'll repeat them Lol Graeme
What a lot of people don't know is that Ozzy wrote the melody lines to most of the Black Sabbath songs . What struck me when I first seriously listened to Black Sabbath was how melodic they were under the heavy riffs. The album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is a perfect example. Plus his voice has a "keening" style that nicely offsets the riffing. It's a unique voice.
I think Kenny Jones is valid. Townsend decided he didn't want a Keith Moon drummer for the band because Townsend hated that. Daltrey rightly realized that the Keith Moon sound was what made the Who what they were. Kenny Jones made the Who another band and not in a good way. I saw them with Moon Jones and Starkey. Moon live was amazing Jones unnoticeable and Starkey fine. Btw regarding Ringo Bonham and Moon among others thought he was a great drummer so just let the haters look stupid.
Moe was perfect for the Velvets. And Phil Rudd!? Jeezus, It's rock n' roll, not the f'kn Julliard School. FFS. I'll take Meg White over empty "flash" anyday.
My god! Your reactions are priceless and I know you want the comments respectful but if the list and the person who compiled the list deserve no respect, then it is what it is… Anyway, Andy Summers? The fact is, there is no weak link in the Police. They are 3 perfect pieces to that puzzle. I could care less about Poison but CC Deville is the only thing I find amusing. How is Oasis even a band without the brothers? Worst list indeed!…
Some of the choices are really just "I don't like the band", such as Courtney Love/Hole, Fred Durst/Limp Bizkit, Scott Stapp/Creed, Billie Joe/Green Day.
Who the hell is Amber Ward? Is she any relation to Burt Ward who played Robin? Anyways who cares what she thinks. And Ringo is a great drummer for the millionth time. Listen to "I feel fine".
I was going to delete this comment but after watching more, I changed my mind. Wow! These people have no business making these lists. Ringo - Weak link? You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about if you think this. Listen to me clearly: No one on the planet at that time, now or in the future would have played the parts that Ringo did. I’m not going to waste my breath explaining this because it will always be lost on someone with zero clue but to play into the simplistic mind that would think he was the weak link, riddle me this: Why did Ringo’s solo career take off first? Ozzy, weak link? Same riddle. Neil Schon joined Santana when he was 17 so I guess must have really sucked? My suggestion is that the person who made up this list should maybe come up with lists about things that they actually understand, if there is such a thing…
Amber who? Proof seems like some desert mirage not around these days( and nights). I heard Ain't Talkin About Love on a reaction vid the other day; David's vocals were phenomenal and ahead of his time. Boy, this Amber is talented @ triggering. Very annoying. The writer of weak link IS an expert on her subject.

Surprised they didn’t say something ridiculous like the weakest member of Plastic Ono Band was John Lennon. This article genuinely made me angry lol!
I wouldn't be surprised.
17:10 hahahahahahahahahahaha - Noel wrote 90% of all Oasis songs, and had a great voice too
Edit... 17:50 yeah okay, nice article, Amber
Thanks for taking this on Larry. The article sure was a shit show.
Yes, this list triggered me too, there would be no Stooges without Iggy Pop, just like there would have been no Nirvana without Kurt, just a lousy list from someone who has no idea what she’s talking about.
Ok god, this is like saying:-
Jan Akkerman - weak link of Focus
Randy Bachman - weak link of the Guess Who
Graham Nash - weak link of The Hollies
Mark Boon - weak link of Diesel
Kevin Cronin - weak link of REO Speedwagon
Roy Webber - weak link of Wally....
In other words, she's talking bollocks.
She'd probably say Roger Davies (check him out, he's cool!) was the weak link of himself!😅
She forgot:
Jimi Hendrix, weak link of the Jimi Hendrix Experience
Eric Clapton, weak link of Cream
Nick Cave, weak link of Nick Cave and the bad seeds
Jack Bruce, weak link of Cream
Patti Smith, weak link of the Patti Smith group
Ginger Baker, weak link of Cream
Victoria Beckham truly was a weak link and my mum and I had a theory that most of the Spice Girls' vocals were all done by Melanie C. Also 'Out Of Your Mind' with the Truesteppers was autotuned to bits.
Geez, Amber, I respectfully disagree!
Why do people who clearly does not understand music even bother to create this kind of crap?
do they not have anything better to do than make a list like this. what do they base all this criticism on
Reminds me the internet's pretty much a waste of time. 😊
Amber's list started off controversial, uninformed and just plain wrong with Ringo, then went downhill fast. I thought she couldn't get much worse until she picked on Ozzy when she hit rock bottom! Surely this has to be a video compiled purely as clickbait because it can't be a serious assessment of these band members and their contributions to their respective bands' successes.
ps. Your reactions are very similar to some of mine, Larry. Total disbelief!
Yea yea... But all Ringo had to do was "act naturally" ! "I knew there was still a spark of good in old Ringo" -Lorne Green
I was gonna freak if Rush was in this list!
I’m pretty sure this article is satire because if it isn’t…. Holy crap
Yes, that got me riled too.
Hahah this article sucks. Most of these artists played integral roles in their bands' success.
As soon as I saw Ozzy, I thought this had to be satire.
I do agree that kirk hammett is a weak link of metallica. I think the bassist of nirvana (krist novoselic) is potentially a weak link too. To be fair, some of the others on the list here are potentially weaker links (and i struggle to come up with better suggestions)
Limp bizkit is decent if we’re being real. At least in terms of entertainment value, I rather put on Limp bizkit than most trap rappers today…
Noel Gallagher? He is Oasis
No offense Larry, but that list was a waste. Period.
Mr Muffin
We feel you wrath at Ringo being picked here but please remember that his "simplistic drumming"is down to fact that Ringo was born with only one foot.
You produce them -I'll repeat them
Lol
Graeme
If you saw them live in their prime, David Lee Roth WAS Van Halen!
Ozzy Sabbath is my favorite era of that band.
What a terrible article.. why don’t these online publications do articles like “great bands with super talents in” eg Ringo or Ozzy.
Larry, I think you may be a victim of click bait here. Whenever you have to click on the "Next" button, you are bring played.
Amber is the weakest link for making stupid click bait articles.
How do you have the nerve to critique the beatles? I'm not huge on every song, but they are absolute legends
I won’t listen to a Black Sabbath album without OZZY!
I agree Larry, ❤️
Facebook , never heard of it , what is a Facebook ? 😃😃
KISS aren't a great band so thats wrong for starters lol
I agree but I didn't want to insult the 3 Kiss fans watching my video. :D I did love their early albums.
Wow!, that's possibly the worst article I've ever read! xxx.
Which makes it my worst video ever! :D
Roger Taylor! I'm not having it. 🥵🥵🥵
