Off the top of my head, the following plug-ins add a little boost just inserted on a track or bus (with no adjustments): IK Multimedia EQ81, IK Multimedia Precision Compressor, and UAD Pultec EQP 1A. I'm sure there are many more plugins that do the same. Keep up the great work guys.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who heard ProL clipping. That was a pretty weak showing, but I assume some knob twiddling could help.

So for the eq's I'd say 1pulsar 2 amek 3logic 4tonebooster 5 no eq 6 more subtle, maybe nova? I don't expect to have one correct, but it was eye opening such differences!!
Imagine having a client over, asks for vibrato and hit the fan 😂 Emails daily get unsubscribed, daily marketing is too much and irritating. Nice conversation about catching the performance is more important than isolation with a fancy mic 🤟🏼 Great episode again 😊
22:51 the waves pultec eq emulation used to have a sound when all the dials were zeroed. I'd put it on harsh vocals, strings, even snares to smooth them out and it sounded great. Then they did the next update and they fixed the "issue" and ruined it for me. This must've been the waves V8 update
1 Tonebooster 2 Pulsar - favorite 3 TDR 4 Amek 5 Logic 6 Without - favorite I sometimes stick the Elysia Museq on the buss as a colourbox without changing anything.
Oh yeah...my new thing i put on my master bus is kazrog true iron with the western electric transformers, whatever they are called...just a little magic
Damn got it right on the Logic limiter! Honestly a terrible limiter as it squashes things quickly. Works for a quick mix but I would never use for a real mix. Cheers!
EQ Blind Test: 5 sounds like no eq to me 2 is by far the best, then 6. I have no idea which is which so I’ll just guess 1. Toneboosters 2. Amek 3. Pulsar 4. TDR Nova 5. No EQ 6. Logic
These are a couple of different kinds of EQ. 5 is flat. 1 is what I expect from an aggressive digital scoop. 3 is a little lighter on bass, but still an accurate digital scoop. ToneBoosters & Nova? 2 & 6 are gently scooped so these sound like broad curves of mastering EQs, such as the Massenburgs. Number 4 needs a repair shop. That distortion is embarrassing.
To me, number 6 sounded the best. The most balanced. And that's why I suspect this to be the original track without any eq going on. But since I have no eq-skills at all, I'll gladly be proven wrong 😁
I find some plugins will create "a sound" at zero. Such "Fairchild"'s don't really "have" a zero stage, they do "something". If that "something" is good or bad, I'll leave to each ears. Talking about ears (and the EQ test, aside from number 5): My ears will recover, hopefully, like a young tree, in a few hundred years.
Sorry but i dont follow the logic. How are we supposed to know which is which if we dont have those eqs? Is it something to do with the specific design of each eq or something else?
@@StudioLife101 Since you are doing the Nova maybe for an other time do the filter collection from TDR cause they are very specific but they could just be part of a normal digital eq.
I really like the shadow hill plugin when just engaged and also MDN sidecar :)
At this point these videos are a podcast discussing random topics with a plugin review slipped in 😂

I liked the warm bottom-end on #2 but think #4 is closer to the final offering. (Dan will have a field day with that description! 😉😆)
Use Elevate at the start of chain and end with Sonible Smart Limit….mostly
Some of them do a sneaky 1-2dB boost so that when it’s flat but you bypass the little boost makes you think it’s doing „magic“
That P Diddy bit was gold. Y'all could have a bullshitting podcast and I'd listen

Number 4 has more detailed high end. I like it the most. 2 has punchy low mids. 5 and 6 are just boomy low end.
Just got the Scheps Omni Channel 2 for $29.99 Added Brauher spatial and the new Soothy thing and got the lot for $49.99 Sweet!

Nr 3 superior to my ears. Not too "boxy", not harsh at all. That sweetspot sounded perfect.

2 Pulsar - favorite
3 TDR
4 Amek
5 Logic
6 Without - favorite

4:44 they made a FAN plugin without the option of shite hitting it. I call that a missed opportunity.

I think #2 is the clean (no EQ), my favourite is #4 and the absolute worst is #5 but no idea which one's which, I don't use any of those EQs

To me it sound like some of them don't actually do a real 10db boost in the top and others do. Also the Q seems to be different on all of them.

What’s your take on the true peak argument then?
I just trust my ears... i use True Peak in mastering, unless turning it off sounds better.... simple as that.
