James Hylton now theirs a name. That dude was still racing up until last year in the ARCA Series in his late 70's.
He died tragically on the road accident buy talledega Alabama race track
That video is better than educational to learn English, Spanish, German, Chinese, and many other languages fluently, the history of the Philippines, Mathematics, and many other educational videos, greetings from The Philippines!
NASCAR was so much more interesting in the 70’s. You still knew what car was what. You knew who the drivers were. No bs just racing
Bobby Isaac was always my favorite
The King wins again!!!
Always rooted for the King, but loved Bobby Allison's Coca Cola Chevelle #12 - sweet car!
@@greatestbrand5191 I 100% agree the gold and Coca-Cola livery really popped. Oh and Bobby was a hell of a driver.
@@BigEightiesNewWave He drove both from 1972 to 1974. The one I saw at Riverside in 1974 was a Chevelle, which I liked better, but hey I was only 8. The gold and red rims clinched it!
Awesome Video! Thanks for posting
The Daytona 450!
Hershel McGriff Sr.
NASCAR Hall of Fame 2022! Congratulations.
awww memories....
Squier is in the main booth. Barney Hall is in 1-2 and Dave Despain is in 3-4. I don’t know who is on the backstretch
Most badass and coolest car on the track
Coo Coo Marlin should have won this race (not that you can tell from the video) - he was pulling away in the lead before the last pit stop. He was called back in for loose lug nuts (that were not loose) and lost most of a lap. That left Donnie and Richard to fight it out. On the last lap Coo Coo was 2nd and lifted when he saw the checkered flag for Petty allowing Cale and Ramo to pass him.
Yea -- maybe NASCAR didn't want a driver named Coo - Coo in Victory Circle, and in Newspapers the next day ??? Really sad too, as Coo - Coo Marlin was a good driver who never got " The BIG Break " that makes a driver a star.
They ran 20 caution laps to shorten the race instead of just making it 180😂😂sounds like it was a middle finger to people asking for a shortened race
Not shown is the battle before Hurtubise’s spin where Coo Coo Marlin stormed into the lead then AJ, Cale, and Petty split around him on the backstretch.
Coo Coo Marlin!!!!
I’m glad I wasn’t alive to see this race. As an underdog fan I would’ve probably broken my TV set. All these lead changes and possible good stories just to have Petty just be handed a win. Coo Coo or Donnie would’ve been GREAT winners.
After meeting Richard (the King) at his garage and being treated like family, I was a R.P. fan from then on.. I kind of lost interest in racing after he retired..
as usual the wood brothers mercury out in front, Pearson was the best and Ford shotgun Hemi was every bit as fast as Chrysler's version of the hemi.
I think if I remember correctly, in '74 they were running the 351 Cleveland and not the Boss 429.
I think the Woods debuted the 351 at Atlanta; they purchased a 351 from Bud Moore and rebuilt it then started winning with it.
I felt so bad for Donnie Allison he should’ve won this race he was always running up with the leaders he just always seem to have bad luck
Danica Patrick would last maybe three laps in one of these cars. Then she'd wreck Cale Yarborough and get her ass kicked.
Back when body aero was so radically different but yet equal parity up front at any given time.
Then the parity came from crew chiefs, working hard on the cars to find what it took keep up.
Is this narrated by my or joy?
It was the MRN radio broadcast in the audio. They used to have guys around the track handing it off to each other.
these are the type of Men Who Built America European descent
The day and age before restrictor plates
Which year was it that NASCAR officially began to suck!?!
look at all those RV's so close to track. disaster
Looks like the Monte Carlo was still used then - and they had the 427 inch engine still. I think the idea of solving an oil embargo by running a 400 mile Daytona 500 is literally the fakest and gayest thing NASCAR has ever done.
@@marine4lyfe85 There were a few Monte Carlos. At that time NASCAR rules allowed for car models up to three years old.
Maybe at that time it was still five years, then down to three.
Go Petty
This was REAL racing. Rest in peace, NASCAR.
