She also said they didn’t know at the time of surgery that it was cancer. They supposedly didn’t know until later that “it had been cancer”. This makes me think she had something removed that then tested positive for cancer. But remember, they straight out denied that she had cancer? They have to have known by then that it was cancer. I guess they just didn’t want to announce it yet - because they needed to prepare the kids first.

It is early stage. It was not picked up by any tests prior to her surgery. Although they suspected it was a cancer. Her deiagnosis was not a surprise to her doctors. Providing the cells they have detected are not secondary from another site. Pthology tests would have identified that if the case. Id guess they are optimistic. Sounds like colon or bowel involvement.

When I was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, I felt like I was on deaths door. I was white as a ghost and felt like I was in another dimension of fatigue. I can’t even explain it, but if you’ve been there, you know that fatigue is something no one could imagine.

It should be talked about so it shines a light on a diseases that touches every family! Yes, he can only guess. He thought that was a long time set aside for recovery; but wait--I would think that part of her extended recovery was that she is a royal! I was told not to lift anything heavier than a jug of milk for 10 weeks after my hysterectomy. Of course, I was cautious, but returned to my normal life as much as possible. Wouldn't a royal be catered to in every way after abdominal surgery? After all, we've heard things like Charles always has someone put his toothpaste on his toothbrush for him...obviously she would be treated like a breakable doll after her surgery, I would think.

Is difficult to know if any Chemo treatment works, it usually takes 2 treatments monthly for 6 months and retakes tests.
Plus Chemo kills your good and BAD CELLS. I spent 2 weeks in hospital after having an emergency ileostomy. It was an emergency surgery with complications. I pray that Catherine & the rest of the RF have only the best.

They were unsure about the mass before surgery. Obviously, no biopsy could be done and possibly in an awkward place. They had no option to open her stomach because the mass was in an awkward place. Then they forward to the pathologist. If cancer they can do tests to discover if the cancer type is agressive or not agressive and slow growing.

Our prayers are with you. Good news it is in early stage which is curable. I went thru non-Hodgkin, 5 chemos did it. First day of chemo every three week was noticeable. It was in 1983. I have been fine. Hope you will do great InSha Allah, from pakAm. Our prayers will be with you.
I would like to congratulate you that you were able to survive this! Was it Lymphoma? My Mom was diagnosed in July 1983 with CNS Lymphoma of the brain and she died the following April! She was 54 years old!
BTW Dr. Marchand, the wealthy British don't bother with the public health care system. They are seen by doctors working in private practice. Surprised you didn't seem to know this.

I recently discovered Barbara O'Neill's site. She does Living Springs Retreat on youtube, or you can go in person. It's all about sipping water instead of guzzling it down, about eating more vegetables, jumping on a roundabout, etc. She explains how you get cancer and what to do about it. I hope someone would recommend this lady to her!!! She's a life saver with many year's experience.

She probably had an exploratory abdominal surgery, to look for whatever they , the doctors, needed to look for. The routine pathological study of excised tissue samples, or organs,
indicated the presence of suspicious or confirmed cancerous cells that had not spread, most likely. Preventive treatment, or "adjunctive treatment" as we call it in the USA, is preventive, in case any of those cells somehow exited beyond the scope of the tissue examined, to be "preventive". It's like cleaning something really well and then polishing it for better results.
