He wasn't on form this year, I had almost forgotten how awesome a dart player he his. This brought back memories, he's the best there will ever be. Should have won Sports Personality of the Year a couple of years ago.
Great vid mate. Phil is just a wonderful wonderful sportsman. We are priviliged to see a legend in action. He won't be around forever but who knows what else he can achieve? 20 worlds? There are other greats like Lance Armstrong still around - we should cherish their talents and commitment to excellence.
Thanks, I'd forgotten his name. I remember him from darts in the 1980s, when Eric Bristow, Jocky Wilson, John Lowe, etc. were all still playing. Seems like a long time ago now...
The dart board is constructed with numbers from 1 to 20, each with a double and a treble segment. Those segments double or triple the score. The bullseye gives you 50 points, the green bit outside gives 25 points - so maximum points is treble 20 (60). The game they're playing is 501 where you want to reduce your score from 501 down to exactly 0 in as few darts as possible. The max with three darts is 180(T20x3), so 180 & 180 leaves 141. To leave a double he went T20, T19 to leave 24 (D12).
The first thing he did was check to see if his mate had put the bet on him to get the 9 darter. That's why he went to the side of the stage to ask. He's just won 100 grand & he's worried about the £250 off the bookies. The man is a LEGEND!!!
Taylor's was the first on live TV. John Lowe and even Paul Lim before him completed a 9 darter on TV but both were pre recorded. But that takes nothing away from both of these players.
for taylor to be as consistant as he is and to actually get a 9 dart finish on more then one occasion is an amazing thing, it takes not only years and years of dedicated practice but also a love for the game and complete mental controle. Please for the peopl who critiscise darts lets get real.. i apoligise for my spelling hahaha -Brian
John Lowe - 1st televised 9 darter Shaun Greatbatch - 1st televised live 9 darter Phil Taylor - 1st televised 9 darter on british televison (Shaun got his on dutch tv)
I play on a league locally and i'm noticing alot of good sportsmanship. To be honest I don't see a whole lot of it anymore, I was very surprised when I joined.
Phil is a legend and will be forever no matter what you pro darter wannabees say also his down to earth ready to help attitude to the new dart players also shows his gratitude to the up and coming players in the game
On Soccer AM, Taylor said he told this guy to put a tenner on him doin a 9-Darter at 16/1, and he said if u look u can see him go over and point at him and ask him, which you can.
phil taylor 13 times world champion.... despite that he can still be backed at 100/1 for sports personality of the year.... fuckin crazy, this man deserves a knighthood !
The bdo standard is way below the pdc these days but it didnt used to b. its just that more and more players have moved over to pdc from bdo. Gary Anderson, Mark Webster, Martin Adams. Barney, Phil Taylor and James Wade - look at the names and tell me which is the best.
@gazmon i dont think john lowes was live, im not quite sure mate, but john lowes yes was the first seen, but this might have been the first. Maybe Shaun Gretbatch's was first live one.
Shaun Greatbatch was the first dart player to do a live 9 darter on television, he achieved it in the dutch open final, taylor was the first on uk tv, john lowe's 9 darter was'nt live just like lim's was'nt.
pill 'the phower' taylor made...... legend.... another surge as he pwers his way through the nine darter... makes it look easy, the man is a genious and shoud be given knighthood and be considered for sports personality of the year 2008 and be made king of england... in fact britain... in fact no th whole world.. YES!! phil wil soon reign over his kingdom tht we all are!! muahahahahahaha
Throw D20 T20 T20 with your first three darts so you're down to 141. The T20 T19 D12 finish shown here will work with a six-dart finish in this situation.
hi im new to darts what is a good set of darts for under £20 and also is this a good deal? •Blade III bristle dartboard and a cabinet and 2 sets of brass darts for £39.99?
I love mason's reaction after phil finished the 9 darter
He wasn't on form this year, I had almost forgotten how awesome a dart player he his. This brought back memories, he's the best there will ever be. Should have won Sports Personality of the Year a couple of years ago.
It makes me incredibly happy that they hugged after he finished!
They fucked after the match.

It's the way he holds the dart, he was having it point to the floor more. He now has it a lot more horizontal.
Taylor's was the first on live TV. John Lowe and even Paul Lim before him completed a 9 darter on TV but both were pre recorded. But that takes nothing away from both of these players.

One of the commentators said a 9 darter had never been done on TV before..... didn't John Lowe do it on the 13th of October 1984 ?
Some dutch guy had the first LIVE 9dart finish, still Taylor is a legend ;)
It actually had been done YEARS before live on TV.
