He was a God kiss for the like of us. He made a real piano swing with every note. I listen and listen and listen and never tire of the swing and sound. A true gift piece of music that should be heard by; everyone at least once. Thank you Mr. Bobby Troup for a great legacy of music.
Met Bobby when I playing a solo guitar gig at the university of Pennsylvania in the late 80s. He listened to a whole set he was there for a class reunion.
Perfection (Mr.Troup, stellar! and great quality audio/video so nothing's lost). And to think, I would've never gotten to enjoy this if someone hadn't thought to share it--so THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I'm fascinated by his timing. It's very apparent that he loved music (and his wife Julie London.) Watch him as he meticulously plays the piano. Perfect. I like the way he leaned into his rhythm at 3:47 I think it's great. Thanks for posting and sharing.

Quite an intro for such a pretty song!! That’s the hip jazz thing to do.
Made me shiver and well up at 1:40, 2:05, 2:36, 3:03, 3:31, 3:57 ..

A Lovely swinging version of the tune

This stuff swings like crazy.
Great rhythm section.
Sweet as it gets.
Makes me want to go pour a martini!!!❤
Yes. And this Yamaha sounds just as dead as the new ones today in 2013!
This looks like it is from his Asian tour.
Wonderful phrasing. Brilliant.
PS:
Route 66 !!!
Bobby is performing here on "The Julie London Show" in Tokyo, Japan.
❤🙋♀️
@Baileygeep7 This show was filmed in Japan. That's why the studio supplied the finest piano available. Yamaha started making pianos in 1887.
Not sure of the photography. The only shot we see of the other musicians is when they have stopped playing.
