Book Safe

In this video I am making a Book Safe for my wife as a Christmas Present. I am making it specifically so that she can put chocolates in it. It is the first time I tried to make one of these. In the video you will see some deforming on the top and the bottom of the inside of the book where the paper deformed because it got wet from the glue and the paint, this was almost gone a couple of days later once it was completely dry. I am happy to report that she opened her present on Christmas and was very happy about the present (especially since it came with chocolates on the inside already)
Bonus Tips (Things I thought off while contemplating the project in the aftermath)
Tip No1 - Something I learned while making this Project
Paper is stronger than you anticipate and cutting a square of paper out of a book is more complicated than you think. Once I started using the chisel it went faster and I achieved a much more square look on the cut out shape. I would definitely use the chisel again.
Tip No2 - This one is all about Safety
Extra care should be taken since this type of project requires you to use very sharp knives and blades and you often have to apply generous pressure to achieve the cuts.
Tip No3 - Something I would like to change if I ever do a similar project
The next time I do one of these I am definitely clamping the top and bottom edge once all the paper in the center is removed and then I will seal the inside and the outside edges of the paper and leave it to dry completely while it is clamped. I will also seal the top of the page. Only once I have sealed everything and let it dry completely will I start to add the wood to make the inner box and do the painting. I am certain that the pages got too wet because I wanted to complete the project in one day. This is a project that requires a lot more painting.
