I think we are going to surprise a lot of people this season. The way this team moves the ball is just amazing. Can't wait to see how they do against some tougher competition!! GO BIG BLUE!!!!!
UK looks great. Team already looks more experienced now than last years team. Very relaxed and they all KNOW their job. Cals team had no idea what they were doing ever. Great shot selection great passing. They look solid and they hustle. THIS IS BBN 🏀🔥🔥🔥
@@mikemartin5749I gotta agree, Cals teams never actually knew what they were doing aside from where they were supposed to stand on the floor. Any success they found came from insanely talented guys who actually played defense. His teams used to play defense. I don’t think it really gets taught as much today, especially in the aau circuits and prep schools they come from. Cals teams never know what they are doing because there are no team concepts that are taught to them. It’s all 1v1 skills. He doesn’t even scrimmage them anymore, he’s said it himself. In an interview I think right before conference play last year he said they hadn’t even worked on defense yet. The first thing to understand about cal is that it’s not about playing team basketball and winning games, it’s about preparing them for the nba and life and that’s it. Great for the players, bad for the school and fans. That’s why as soon as you throw a 1-3-1 zone at his teams they completely crap the bed. No preparation. No team concepts. Just roll the ball out there and yell “go” non stop.
@@athorise you have no clue what you’re talking about. Reed was going to UK no matter who the coach was. His mom and dad are both Kentucky basketball legends.
Wow! Excellent job Mark Pope has done he is here to stay. With his passion he is going to restore the heart and meaning of Good ole Kentucky basketball. I have to say I've never seen a team of calipari's play this good. And we are even ranked 23. Which I think Kentucky will move up the ladder here soon. And by the time march is around Kentucky will a really good championship team. Because they have good chemistry already. And pass the ball well. They get open looks and still pass it that's called unselfish. Because open looks can lead to fakes which can lead to extra pass for a even better shot. And also a pump fake can lead to a double team leaving a player open for a drive to the basket. With Mark Pope's system with his team playing catch and shoot or pass. Or the pick and roll game. They also play hard on ball defense at all time. An incredible bench this team is underrated in my eyes. I'm glad to say we are gonna have a good season.
What do you mean you’ve never seen a Calipari team play this good? Coach Cal had possibly the best team in college basketball history when we went 38-1. So sad seeing all the self proclaimed “Kentucky fans” hating on Cal. He is one of the greatest coaches ever. Everyone needs to stop all the negativity towards Calipari. He gave us great players and teams. He had multiple dominant seasons but then gets blamed when the team loses one game in march
Really good to see all these shooters goin off. KW is a good team, lot if last yrs players back and the beat Louisville then. Im sure they have improved. But this team is gonna be special. Lot of weapons to utilize, and Mark Pope is going to be a hall of fame coach someday. Save this comment for the future. its gonna happen. Go big blue!! 💙
@Bobbarker23455 the only other teams in kentucky history who beat an exposition game by more we're a championship team in a final four team. It doesn't matter who you are or who you play if a team shoots 21-42 from 3 that's insane regardless.
The Ricky pitino years was my favorite and some of the most memorable moments & games mark pope is bringing it back he's a chip off the old pitino block love this team & play style it's super fan this has united BBN ALL AS 1 we have R program back and every fan who didn't experience the 90s pitino era can enjoy what its like GO BIG BLUE
I'm not asking for miracles. I just want solid Wildcat basketball again. I'm fine with rebuilding from the ground up. I remember having to listen to the Cats on radio with Cawood Ledford when Rick P and the team couldn't be on TV.
@@nathanbrown306940% as a team is a lot to ask even.😂 That would’ve been top 2 in the country last year, that’s a pretty big expectation to hold a team to. I’ll just be happy if we can rebound the ball and get some second chance points 😂

Why? We have one of the best defenders in the nation (Lamont Butler) and Amari Williams was conference defensive player of the year 3 seasons in a row. We have more grit on this team than we have had in a while
I wouldn’t draw too many conclusions from this game. Wesleyan was outmatched badly. But Butler, Oweh, Williams and Garrison are studs on defense and going to play a lot. Butler is going to be in the conversation for conference and National DPoY. His instincts are terrific and his fundamentals and IQ sound. And he is relentless. All the makings of a great defender.
This team is definitely not nearly and fast or explosive as the previous teams. But that’s great. As long as fundamentals are there the game slows down in March. And we’ve seen what young and fast gets us in March for the past 11 years
Fast and explosive teams usually are the younger ones and those teams usually don’t get far nowadays in tournament play. We got beat by experience, defensive teams in March with Cal because of inexperienced players. Now we got guys who are experienced, most are defensive oriented and shoot makers. Personally I’m not expecting a title or anything like that but we can be seen as a Dark horse in SEC play for sure
So in the last 11 years, UK was a national runner up (14), two Final Fours (14, 15), four Elite Eights (14, 15, 17, 19), five Sweet Sixteens (14, 15, 17, 18, 19). Meanwhile, in nine years as a head coach, Pope has never won even one tournament game.
I like the way we moved the ball and got good looks. We have straight up snipers this year from 3 I like what we’re doing!
I think we are going to surprise a lot of people this season. The way this team moves the ball is just amazing. Can't wait to see how they do against some tougher competition!! GO BIG BLUE!!!!!
Especially the way they were shooting the ball to end the second half. I think we hit like four in a row. And like 9 without missing
Good start
thank for watching

I’d be nervous if it were the past few seasons….this is a great start
Man what a performance!! Now i know the competition was a little less than par but im definitely excited for whats to come
Trent Noah's shooting form is to basketball what Ken Griffey Jr's swing is to Baseball!

Im a littl optimistic now. Not like getting beat by teams like richmond and Evansville early in the season
Yea beating teams they should by a lot is a good sign
Cali would have lost some how i can already tell pope is a better xs abd os guy
I watched the game. If they can shoot 3’s like that all season, they’ll be hard to beat. Wow!
50% obviously isn't sustainable but expect around a 40% clip from 3.

Almonour looked the best IMO. Robinson, Chandler, Butler, and amari all looked good
Why they playing Clemson in ACC SEC game that should be UNC who the hell sets up these schedules and no Kansas this year smdh

Yes and no. He pulled a hammy and they are just being cautious with him.
