as for diabolik lovers, apparently the game was okay, but i watched the anime (solely for the cast) and they absolutely butchered the story and yui (the mc) who became a blank slate. and it got really repetitive 😭😭

The only otome game I ever played is Iris school of wizardry. I initially got it bc of Alice in the demo, but then I found out in the full version that she doesn't have a route :( Saving grace is that the boys have interesting personalities. But I only finished Keith's route so far.

Petra is right, Akatsuki no Yona ‘s anime definitely does not do the actual plot and slow burn ENOUGH justice. The adaption was good, very addictive, and voice acting was top tier JP and EN, but the manga really hits different
Well in my opinion it's kinda trash lol. It's not the worst I played, but there are much better otome games out there! Plus one of the guys you can romance has a pretty infamous yandere route that gets pretty yikes😅
100% if you want more interesting plots in otome games you're gonna have to pay a pretty penny for them 😭 But yea some plots from otome games are genuinely pretty neat- collarxmalice comes to mind. Hakuouki, Code:Realize, Piofiore, etc as well just to name a few
It's a mixed bag tbh. I do love me some brainless eyecandy and/or juicy plot. Some do have a pretty well developed plot while others are nonsensical pieces of chaos. You just gotta find what you're in the mood for. But yes, I like and play otome that make me go woah at how good the story is. Even if the characters are nice and handsome, but the plot is shit, I'd probably enjoy it less than an otome which maybe has less pretty guys but an amazing story
it was badly misinterpreted, the actual conversation was about the ML talking about how it ISNT curable, the wording was a bit off so thats why people took it the wrong way, they changed the dialog to inform it more clearly
