I've seen so many comments from people who weren't into screaming/growling until they were introduced to Tatiana (me being one of them). She's absolutely phenomenal but what makes Jinjer really special is how good the band is. They're phenomenal!

Have you seen their new video Home Back? Those are the deepest growls I’ve heard from her to date, and an awesome song all the way around.

@@Davesmusicreactions one of their best. The word "important" gets thrown around a lot in the arts, but I feel it couldn't be more applicable. It is about their hometown being caught up in the war in eastern Ukraine. There are a lot of classic anti-war songs in metal, but seldom do civilians caught in a war and forced to leave their homes get the chance to share their stories so powerfully, and speaks to the experiences of millions around the world.

The day after doing a headlining show, she's usually doing another headlining show. They did 152 shows acros several continents last year, and their North American tour was 42 shows in 60 days, usually 3-5 days in a row, and never more than a day off.
You are correct about the cover-up tattoo.
Not particularly familiar with the Beegees, but it sounds like you are talking about falsetto. To see an epic demonstration of falsetto, check out Yannis Papadopoulos, the male lead singer of Beast In Black cover Ghost Love Score. Their song Blind And Frozen is really good too.

The mandala tattoo is indeed a coverup. The top is using the Jamaican colors, just as her makeup and earring. Not sure if there is a specific term for the higher "pitched" screams, but as far as techniques go fry screaming is usually pretty high sounding, and the low ones were at least in the past referred to as death growls, since they came out of the death metal genre. That's at least my understanding / knowledge about it, which is fairly limited too.
Fun fact: Tatiana is just lip syncing, the actual vocalist of the band is the cat. ;)
Couple more, somewhat personal songs: Official video for Home Back (pretty recent release), which is about the war in their home region in eastern Ukraine, and the lyric video for No Hoard of Value, which is about the hazardous coal mining industry there.

She was heavily influenced in growling by Otep (female), Blythe from Lamb of God and Mikael from Opeth. She also loves Amy Winehouse and Gwen Stefani.

Nice comment with the names of the people who influenced her to become the singer she is today.
The singers name in Opeth is Mikael Åkerfeldt (AW-kerfeldt ) he’s Swedish

There is an interview she did with Loudwire Magazine where she talks about how she was inspired and what brought about her style vocals, totally worth watching : th-cam.com/video/UBrqWYMBm60/w-d-xo.html

All of the Bee Gees are falsetto lead singers. They likely were "inspired" by black Motown vocalists but the technique has been around forever. Screaming and Growling have also both been around forever -the Vikings were doing it in the 10th century.

I heard in a recent interview she doesn’t warm up before shows, she just tries not to talk much in the hour before and subsequently for an hour after the show. She has the false cords and fry scream techniques nailed and is blessed with an amazingly diverse clean singing voice so has a huge amount of ability to cross genres which the band also do sublimely. Got to be one of the best bands and Tatiana is one of the best adaptable vocalists at the moment as her range is insane. Also she’s a great lyricist, read the lyrics of the songs and it’s poetic and also not written or sung in her 1st language which is Russian. Check it Retrospection which has some Russian and is a great song. They don’t make bad songs 🤘🤘🤘

Thanks for the feedback! Crazy to think she doesn't warm up her voice. But then again it's working for her so no need to change her routine i suppose -Dave

As far as how she came about screaming/growling, she explains it herself:

If you're going to pause mid-vocal line (or scream), it's a good idea to back it up before resuming. The 'j' key on your keyboard is the easiest way to back it up a bit.
