You should listen to the Finding My Pack series by Lane Whitt and The Curse of the Gods series by Jaymin Eve and Jane Washington. I say listen cause the audio is laugh out loud funny ginda cringy at times but man the narrative is so perfect and the main character's both have inter dialogue that will have you rolling on the floor. Ask my husband I wake him up cracking up (he doesn't believe for a second I was just sneezing).
Added so many of these to my kindle unlimited deck. Aaaand I have that Anne Bishop series I've been wanting/scared to try for years. And now I'm even more scared...but also I intrigued 🤣
Im currently reading Delilah Green doesn't care and so far im really liking it. Running wild will probably be the next one or Tripping Arcadia which i really am excited for.
Ahhh! The Black Jewels :) I understand the love/hate, even though for me they are an all-time love. They are definitely not romance heavy in the trilogy, but they do really go into romance in Dreams Made Flesh (anthology with Lucivar's love story) and in the later books within the world. It's also nice to see more people reading the Maas blueprint in the very early stages (so much Anne Bishop in Prythian.... Eyriens vs. Illyrians, Lucivar is literally Cassian, etc. I'm sure you saw haha). Just so glad to see this series getting the love. And the ick factor you referenced about Daemon is 100% limited to that very first book. None of the other books in the universe involve that particular ick.
If you enjoyed her book, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, you will love her TH-cam channel Ask a Mortician. When I first found her I binged her entire channel backlog.
If you want some other laugh out loud listens with similar feels only better than the Cupidity series check out Finding My Pack by Lane Whitt or Curse of the Gods Jaymin Eve and Jane Washington. The have hilarious inter monologs and the narration took it to the next level.

I love the Black Jewels series for many reasons. One, it's on of the few Dark Fantasy series I've read that just centers female characters without ignoring all the f*cked up shit they do. I feel like you can either get a grimdark world or female main character but you rarely can find both? Two, I think the books explore a matriachal society without ignoring underlying physical differences and gender roles (think of the entire process around loosing her virginity but never his). It's not perfect and I think Bishop misses a few instances where the series would have benifited from some more introspection but I don't mind as much when there are so many great moments as well. Somtimes I just want problematic women doing terrible things. We can all love characters like Jaime Lannister, Glokta from Blade Itself and Hilo from Jade War while understanding that they are not good people - let's just extend that grace towards female characters. I don't know how much you've lookined into the series but I do want to stress that this is not a Fantasy romance, but explicitely Dark Fantasy, expecially regarding its tropes. Just a warning. The following books are also not exactly chronological or continue straight on from the original trilogy, it encompass smaller arcs within the world. I personally haven't read the two newest addtions yet.
I loved Anne bishop's the others series. I am certainly willing to try out another ☺☺☺☺☺
