The statue you saw at the beginning is Martín Teófilo Delgado, a military leader who fought for a free Iloilo against the Spanish and the Americans. Under Delgado, the Filipino flag was raised on Christmas Day 1898, although the US flag was raised three days later after US troops arrived with warships. He served as the first civilian governor of Iloilo Province during the American colonial period. After his term, he was exiled to Culion in Palawan where he served a superintendent of a leprosy sanatorium. He ended up dying in Culion at age 60 in 1918. He was buried in Santa Barbara's cemetery (his hometown). In 1998, a statue was erected in his honor in the main square of his hometown (his remains were transferred from the cemetery to this monument in 2011), and the equestrian statue you saw was erected in Iloilo City in 2019
Watching this as a tourism student filled me with gratitude. The original song, written in Hiligaynon, has a strong emotional impact since it perfectly captures the essence of the Dinagyang season. However, Sir Mikey wrote the song's English lyrics himself, which was a great idea since he accurately captured the emotions you would experience when you travel there and immerse yourself in the culture of the city of love. The entire video was filled with goodness; the affection is palpable and the smiles are sincere. I'd want to thank Sir Mikey for a job well done. PS: Iloilo City's younger generation need to learn more about its history because, as the City of Love, it has much to give the world and has paved the way both past and present.
Madamo gid nga SALAMAT Mikey sa pag visit sa ILOILO CITY OF LOVE, my heart beat for you, THANK YOU VERY MUCH sa pag gawa mo nang kanta para sa ILOILO we LOVE it, mabuhay kayo ni RJ 😘😘😘
Greetings from Redondo Beach CA 🇺🇸. I just stumbled into his videos last Christmas. I started watching the ‘tutorials’, then the parodies. This young man is a genius. Unbelievably very talented and creative. His videos always cheer me up. Nice work. Mabuhay 🌷🌷
When I was young, I used to hate living in the philippines because I didn't know how to speak the language, but as I got older, I started learning more filipino words, and now I understand a few sentances. I still dont know how to speak and understand filipino, but I understand a few words and some tiny phrases, maybe I will learn more when im older, and listening to this song makes me proud of living in the Philippines nowadays. Mabuhay!
Well done again, never been in Iloilo so this might fire my urge to visit someday. Can you please make a behind the scene again for this? I love watching behind the scenes. Hope you’ll consider coming over for the Panagbenga festival here in Baguio come February.
Oh my gosh the music was awesome but I only found my heart in Iloilo because that's the place where I met someone very valuable to me And the u were so good at dancing and singing don't worry I watch all your channels specially antscanada it's my favorite and the next one is your daily vlogs and I love your blue NAPED PARROT and your crimson belly birds and billy is so cute also your house is so beautiful and so big it's bigger then my house but I love your videos I hope you see this kuya MIKEY I'm subscribed to your channel don't worry ❤❤
Brilliant video and adaptation. Amazing festival too with massive amounts of preparation needed and rehearsals in the middle of the city after 1am in the preceding month. Not far from there, in Capiz, I had my first taste of cat and it's since become my favorite meat when I go back to Panay and Negros.
@Mikey Bustos - Great video. Very intense. The audio quality is great. Do you have the audio details listed somewhere? Did Appleboy appear anywhere in this video?
