If you’re looking for the paper yield templates I referenced in this video, you can collect them in this post: www.belindadelpesco.com/tearing-full-sheets-of-fine-art-paper-to-smaller-sizes.html/
Your video was very helpful and thank you for creating it and the download. I've missed your printmaking videos and really enjoy your easy style of teaching. You are very thorough in explaining. I had been mono printing and enjoying it, and loved your method on the trace monotypes. You make it look so effortless. A friend bought me a geli plate and have tried it, but seem to enjoy a hard surface better. Thank you for your expertise. 😊
Nice video and a great idea with the reference drawings! I do have a suggestion, however: For the 7-sheet template, I believe you could convert that 2 x 12 waste strip into a third 4 x 6 sheet by rotating all 12 x 14 and 10 x 8 pieces by 90 degrees, in their current relative positions. Besides yielding an additional 4 x 6 and reducing waste, I believe you'd also need to make one less tear (from 8 tears down to 7, if my counting is correct).
Great idea! I will add your measurements to that template and see if it works. I have at least 8 templates so far, and I’m always eager to add another or alter what I’ve got to get higher yield. 👍🏽
I enjoy the tearing process and I've yet to create a full edition of prints with a new(old) press that is an ongoing enjoyment of learning. As I continue to learn I realize how your templates will save time and eliminate the need for any paper waste. The small tabs tip for picking up paper with messy hand is great. PS... thanks also for the link on how paper is made. Paper is such a gift.
Hi Bill, I hope your exploration of the new/old press and paper tearing to prep for an edition moves you to complete one. It’s incredibly satisfying to print, dry, sort and number your prints as a complete edition. And yes, paper is such a gift. And so many kinds to try. Happy printing to you.
