- This year as part of Kings Island’s 50th anniversary season, the Mason, Ohio amusement and water park has brought back a popular former attraction, but in a different way.
Phantom Theater Encore, a live stage show that can be seen six days a week in the Kings Island Theater, pays tribute to the retired Phantom Theater as memorable characters from the attraction sing, dance and decompose before your eyes.
Now, you’ve seen Broadway plays become movies and vice-versa, but never before has a ride been made into a live theater production. The show is sure to rekindle memories for Phantom Theater fans as they watch memorable characters from the attraction like Maestro, Houdelini, Hilda Bovine and The Great Garbanzo back on the stage again to reprise what they didn’t survive.
For those unfamiliar with Phantom Theater, a little history: Designed and created by R&R Creative Amusement Designs, Phantom Theater operated at Kings Island from 1992 to 2002 and had an acknowledged reputation as one of the best dark rides in the amusement and theme park industry. The omnimover-style attraction transported guests throughout the theater, showing 38 ghost-like animations and 17 different scenes during a ride experience that lasted longer than a ride on The Beast!
As you include Phantom Theater Encore among the rides, shows and attractions you want to see and experience during your visit to Kings Island, be sure to arrive at the Kings Island Theater at least 15 minutes before the show begins so you can check out the treasure trove of Phantom Theater artifacts on display in the theater lobby that take you through the history and design of the ride, including concept art, scrims and a model of the attraction. It’s all very detailed and sets the stage for the show.

So how cool would it be if the park management came out on stage during this show one evening and announced to the cast of phantoms that they were giving them their theater back, and they'd be able to haunt that attraction once again next season. I wouldn't want the original ride back, I'd like to see an updated version with a new story and new scenes. They could even call it Phantom Theater Encore if they wanted. Either way, Boo Blasters has run its course, and it's time for something else. It's clear that this would be a popular attraction.
I’d love them to retheme boo blasters to match the planet snoopy area and make it more child friendly, and have them build a ground up darkride with modern technology. Like imagine how cool a trackless phantom theater would be

They should revamped KI's Halloween Haunt with the Maestro and his Phantoms take over the park along with Charlie Brown and The Peanuts Gang!
This show was THE BEST! And I DO miss the Phantom Theater. Really loved the lobby information and special effects of the ride lobby displays. GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS KINGS ISLAND!!!
Wow the timing, this video is uploaded the day I go see this show. It's very entertaining. I was blown away by everything in the lobby as it took me back to my childhood. Can we please bring this ride back?

I remember I had a season pass back in 1996 and went thru the Phantom theater probably 50 times that year it was a neat attraction, I saw the new show for it last week at Kings island and it was pretty good, I would recommend seeing it....

I’m so sad I just saw this video I grew up with Phantom Theatre I would have loved to see this unfortunately it ended 2 months ago 😢

I saw the show but didn't know you could actually go to the boiler room 😯
The Boiler Room was at the stage side exits as opposed to the main entrance to the Kings Island Theater. There were signs on the left and right walls near the stage that pointed 👉 to the Boiler Room, just like on the actual ride.

it is a great show. The actors really go all out to pay homage to the Phantom Theater and its cast of characters.
