    You forgot a key "post wedding" requirement. Pizza and beer! Always order your pizza just before you leave the venue, and make sure there's a beer in the fridge for when you get home :D

    Hello John, can you do a video on how you supply prints? Who do you use to print your photos? How do you price prints? Thank you!

    New wedding photog here and I couldn't stress the backing up part anymore than you've done. Shot my first wedding Oct last year and after downloading the photos onto my HD it just wouldn't boot the next day. Sent it to Seagate and they couldn't do anything too so all photos were lost. Luckily hadn't reformatted the SD cards. But as John said, back up back up back up! I now have 3 HDs i backup my files on. Don't do a me - back up your files :)

    Back up on-site, and don't put the Gnarbox with your photo gear! If your gear is stolen, the Gnarbox goes as well. John, great you are talking about backups! No one ever said "I had too many backups."

    I hear you, i got my backpack stolen before that had my a9 and a 24-70 GM. It was a high end event. Nowadays, you never know... thing that saved ne was the Gnarbox. I backed up earlier during the day and only lost 25% of the photos. But was able to c0ver it with my second camera. It's a different focal length but better than nothing

    Hey man what's your stands on single card slot cameras for Wedding? I am eyeing on the A7C for its Flippy Screen, Better auto focus and improved color science over the A7III. The catch is it unfortunately only has a single card slot while the A7 III had dual. I don't think I've the budget to step up to the A7 IV as its $1000 more than the A7C.
    One way I can think of is that I record with small sized SD cards either 32GB or 64GB, and then I swap them out frequently across say 10 different cards throughout the entire day. This way I would like to think that I reduce the damage in the event of a corrupted SD card. I'd also get the SSD which you've recommended to backup these cards. I'm just not 100% sure if its doable or should I continue saving up or wait for Sony to release a cheaper version of the A7 IV with dual card slots.
    Have you shot any paid work with single card slots?

    How do you typically provide your clients with the final version of their photos? Do you give them the raw files and jpg? Do you rate the photos? Do you present the photos to them on a thumb-drive?

    One thing I try to do during the wedding day is to rate/pick photos in the cameras, so when I get them on the computer, I can build a slideshow much quicker.

    I agree with everything except putting SD cards in your pockets. The easiest way to lose them! However, I always have either a backpack or leg-hip pouch on me bcs I cannot stand shooting anything other than a couple's shoot without a bag with the most important stuff (including snacks to sneak in those few secs you can), so I still always have them on me

    Good tips. I wouldn't trust an SD card in a plastic generic case in my pocket. If you take your keys out of your pocket the SD card can accidentally fall out. I keep my cards in a waterproof Pelican card case which is double looped around my belt and then tucked in my pocket.

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a really good point about the SD cards. I luckily haven't had it happen to me just yet but I could totally see it happening. Thanks for adding this!

    I just started watching your channel so I'm not sure if there's a video you posted on this or not (if there is, I'd love it if someone could direct me to it), but I'd love to hear about your backup routine. You mentioned that one backup drive syncs your photos to the cloud - does it do that automatically? How do you set up Lightroom to back up to an additional drive?
    Your videos have been really helpful!

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Welcome to the channel. I do have a video where I talk about my backup process. th-cam.com/video/zdL0E4IqHdQ/w-d-xo.html This video is pretty old so my process has updated a bit but basically most of if is the same.

    Hi John , thanks for another great video! Just wondering what you mean by your bit about pic-time (I use it too). Do you send the finished album to more than just your couple? Surely the final album is just for them and their prerogative who else gets to see it? Just not sure what you meant by getting other people’s email addresses.. thanks in advance.

  • @justynwolf3462
    @justynwolf3462 ปีที่แล้ว

    I keep an sd case and ALWAYS keep the cards on me on my way home. Ex: I stop for gas, I take the SD cards in with me in case my camera is stolen! I never put in pockets, I actually had the lock rip out that was and it was so scary to try and get the photos off!!

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      OH NO! That's a scary story. I'm pretty extra about my pockets so it works for me but as go as you're taking the SD cards out of the camera is the main point there. Thank you for sharing I hope your comment helps other photographers.

    HI John. can i ask, how long should it take you to edit photos after a wedding?

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For delivery times I quote my couples 4-8 weeks. Generally however it should really take you maybe 8 hours to edit at most. If you want to save yourself time look into ImagenAI which will edit for you in your own style. Then it usually only takes a couple of hours at most.

    Hey John for Pic-time print pricings, do you use the default prices or do you adjust them?

    • @jbivphotography
      @jbivphotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually adjust them by percentage and then base it off of how much I get paid and also how much the total price is for the customer. I honestly need to go back in and re-do mine I haven't looked at it in awhile.
