Thank you! After Kenny and I recorded episode 7, he said you should do a podcast on the gig economy and had some great insights. I said, 'wait, hold on...lets record it right now':) I did it as a separate episode to keep it short
We have two of then, one admit they subcontract to mums, the other is a big franchise who act like they have a centre to wash and dry, they sell areas for 16,000.00 and get nothing except a 6 month minimum wage. Unfortunately some fall for it.
There will always be people who fall for it. At Curbside, our philosophy is to help out mom & pop owners and give them the tools to compete and win against these big companies. At the end of the day, it's the individual owner who determines their own success and you can't pay a franchise money to make you successful. The owners who take pride in their business and run it well, win.
I just saw a new viral video of a food delivery company leaving the food by the wrong apartment. The driver said go get the food yourself. The customer said we paid for delivery. Driver refused to go back (which actually makes sense given how little they get paid), but from the customer experience, I could only imagine this situation or similar situations play out when the order size is over $70 and the driver really doesn't want to lug the laundry in the first place. It'd be fascinating to document for comedy, but not how I'd run our laundry business either
Excellent content and short, thank you for that

Hiring “gig” drivers does not work, the risk is way to high. It’s never worked for my company
