What's it like to ride a Can-Am Spyder?
In 2022, TommyG and I rode our motorcycles in 42/50 states and met up with some wonderful friends. In this video, eight of those friends took my 2018 Can Am Spyder F3 Limited for a test ride. That says something, there is a whole lot of years and of riding in this group, and we were all shocked and really enjoyed it. That speaks volume, I guess we should all take a chance to try new things more often.

That was pretty cool to get different peoples reactions to there first time riding a Spyder.
I’ve never ridden one before but grew up riding quads (ATVs) on dirt trails and would feel like the Spyder would almost have similar handling. Tons of fun 🙂👍
It was neat to hear what folks thought! I gave my first ride of 2023 to DOC650Adventures yesterday...similar reaction! You are going to have to try my Spyder next time we meet up, Nick! We have a quad on our farm and I must say the Spyder handles a whole lot better...the steering is way more intuitive...probably because the wheels are a lot further apart on the Spyder. Tommy says it is similar to a snowmobile which he grew up riding...I've ridden as a pillion on a snowmobile so I can't say, lol. Have a great day! 💜🤗

Great video Jody! A common comment was on responsiveness, which was my initial thought the first time I rode one. What I was surprised not to hear was how many times people reached for the front brake! That one took me a little while to get used to.
Thank you so much, RJ! I can't remember reaching for the front brake that wasn't there but I hadn't ridden a motorcycle in 20 years lol. After miles and miles of riding the Spyder though, I did try to use turn signals on my bicycle one day, lol! 😂💜🤗

First time I rode one was in the MSF course. I was hooked. So was my wife. We now have a 2022 RTL,for me, and my wife has 2022 Ryker Rally. She is intimidated on the operation of the Spyder. I am slowly working on her to test ride it. She just stayed with the Ryker during the MSF training. We have had both bikes for little over a year. Always enjoy your videos and ride safe.

This was a great video, loved everybody after ride thoughts. Craig sitting on the back with his arm folded and pouting was priceless. I'm Jealous because I (rich was supposed to be in this video 😔. Both Kake and I had a chance to test ride a Ryker, I know it isn't the same but we did enjoy it.

You need to give a lot more demos, to strangers in Northwest, Florida and Southern Alabama. I don't see manY rYders in this area. Which is weird to me, I mean it's perfect rYding season, about 97% of the Year.😊. Keep spreading the word of SpYders. We need more happier rYders on the roads. StaY Alert. rYde Safe in a fun waY. Keep on SpYdering. 😎🇺🇲💜💜💜💙💙. And giving more SpYder demos of course.🤪.

With my back issues, I thought my motorcycling days were coming to an end, until I bought a Spyder F3 Limited a couple of months ago. I recently went for a 3 day, 1,300km ride and along with the Butt Buffer, I had no significant issues with my back. Such a comfy ride. Love my Spyder!

This was a wonderful idea. I don't know who had it, but I enjoyed it very much. I only met Tony in person, but I see that all of you there enjoyed riding the Spyder and had a lot of fun. The special part comes in the second half where we see Jody as a pillion. Got my like. Take care you two.
p.s. From now on we all know that Jody has some great abilities to teach also. She gave a lesson to everyone on "how to turn it off". But I know it is not easy and I would have some problems there also. :))

I really find it interesting there is only the one brake pedal. Going from a "typical" motorcycle - It would take some getting used to, although, I can't see that taking any time at all.

A little over a year ago I test drove a Ryker and at 45 it scared me to death I think because I was over steering and just got off my 2 wheeler. then fast foward to 2 weeks ago I test drove a Spyder rt after being off 2 wheels for 5 months and enjoyed it thinking I can get used yo this, then 9 days ago I bought a Spyder f3 limited and really enjoying it .Everyone says it steers like a quad which I never drove so had to get used to it.
I love to hear about your progression with the Can-Ams!! 🤗💜 We have a quad...I can't say steering it is like that...F3 steers a whole lot easier. Tommy says it's like a snowmobile.. he grew up riding those... I've never driven a snowmobile. I hope our wheels cross paths and we can ride together! 🤗💜

@@PurpleOnThree No, they make ATV’s, Snowmobiles, Seadoos all sorts of recreational vehicles …and of course the Ryker and CanAm! They are manufactured a couple hours from me! I must get there and do a video in the manufacturer’s factory!!

I am guessing you haven't had any problems with yours mechanically. That's my worry, a Can-Am mechanic told me not to buy one because they have a lot of problems, and are expensive to work on.

Thanks, Peggy! I've had a few recalls...parking brake, sprocket, control module. The 1330 rotax is a great engine...I have NEVER had to add oil between oil changes. 🤗💜 So happy for that. Shop labor is probably the same per hour as HD charges 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

Hello, Randy! Thank you so much! That is a Lamonster water bottle holder and bottle AND I love it!! That thing keeps ice for over 24 hours even in 100 plus degrees...last summer when we were riding Route 66 I road tested it in the heat and it was AMAZING! I saw a video (I can't recall who made it) just after I got my Spyder. The rider said you needed about 4k/kms before you were used to how the Spyder rides and behaves compared to a two-wheeler. I have clocked up about 5k/kms and I still have things to learn especailly how to handle turning right. The forces want to push you off the seat and to the left. It's not such a problem turning left because we drive on the left side of the road so the turns aren't always as big. I adapted to the semi auto fairly quickly but I still find myself reaching for the brake lever on the bars even though I know it's not there. I think those are two of the big adjustments I needed to make. Realising it's a big wide bike that needs a bit more room to turn and that you can't lane split is also a new thing.
The more you ride it, the easier it all gets! I plant one foot and lean to combat that feeling of being thrown off...also ...do you have an upgraded sway bar? That has made a difference for me. I adjusted to the foot brake fairly quickly but I had not ridden 2 wheels in 20 years...As for turning radius, I can do U turns more easily than Tommy with his cruiser...so is lane splitting legal there? It is not in the state where we live but we experienced it last year when riding in California...scared me when they came by me the first time, lol
@@PurpleOnThree I know of the sway bar but I don't have one on my machine (to the best of my knowledge - I bought it second hand). I have a two-wheeler as well but it's located in another state and I don't get to go there often and I haven't been there since I've owned the Spyder. Lane splitting or lane filtering is legal in all parts of Australia as far as I know. I never did it when I owned the Kawasaki Voyager it's too big, you can't do it on the Spyder it's too wide and I don't usually do it when I'm riding my scooter (it's a Suzuki Burgman 650 AN Executive and is also quite wide) because where I ride it there never enough traffic and I'm never in that much of a hurry. It is much easier making a U turn on the Spyder than any other bike I've mentioned here or others I've owned. Enjoy your riding. I look forward to more videos.

Hi Jessica! I actually have what are called short reach handlebars... So mine aren't outstretched and are comfy for me. Yep, those are our cows 😁🐮
