    Those orchestral sounds are really beautiful! Looking forward to your comparison with Beads. I love that module, I use it so much. When I saw the release of Mojave it emediately made me think of Beads and if its “better” which is of course a very subjective thing anyway

    I'm not sure if it's too much for you to compare Beads to Mojave, but I'd be interested. As there are things I see here that feel a bit more versatile and closer to what I'd like to achieve, and not quite sure if they're possible in beads. As I feel it's good to be aware of my own limitations as a synthesis enthusiast.

    Sounds great. How does it shape up against Beads? Seems like it's in the same sort of ball park. I've got a Beads but seem to struggle with it. Haven't really gelled with it. Love the demos I've heard. But it's a bit enigmatic to me. Even though I feel Mojave would be the same experience for me, I have to say it's peaked my interest.

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It took me a long time to gel with beads ~ it can do some things really well. Mojave is definitely similar but maybe a bit more intuitive

  • @compucorder64
    @compucorder64 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wonder what the most significant differences are between Mojave and Arbhar v2?

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Mojave is more like a live processor whereas the Arbhar can store tonnes of sounds and even move between 6 audio samples at once ☺️

    • @compucorder64
      @compucorder64 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheUnperson Thanks, interesting good to know. I might be more interested in Mojave then. Because I use a Tasty Chips GR-1 for the type of thing Arbhar does. Maybe I should more be thinking Mojave vs. Clouds/Beads then. Though, Clouds based modules like Monsoon are quite a bit cheaper than Mojave. Have been very interested in Chase Bliss Mood mk.II for that live processing, which has more of a multi-algo, micro-looper take. (and of course no CV control).

    • @jamesdmorgan
      @jamesdmorgan ปีที่แล้ว

      Arbhar can work in that manner using follow mode. Constantly processing live audio and affecting it however you set it. That combined with onset detection

    • @compucorder64
      @compucorder64 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jamesdmorganYes, that's how I understood it. And also, I thought Arbhar had the smoother/denser sounding granular engine, if I'm not mistaken.

    • @jamesdmorgan
      @jamesdmorgan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@compucorder64I need to play more with it now I have mine on v2 but it has double the grain count now so I think it is smoother. 88 combining both normal grains and strike grains. The envelope can be changed to suit different scenarios. V2 has made a fairly deep module much deeper but things like accumulative record and track and hold are pretty killer features

  • @hyderhydra3269
    @hyderhydra3269 ปีที่แล้ว

    can i run straight audio into it and make a grain from that?

  • @TheDavidPoole
    @TheDavidPoole ปีที่แล้ว

    Sounds wonderful. I have a very basic modular setup at the mo, but there are so many great modules out there. I really like MI Clouds, well mst of their gear tbh but I'm seriously thinking that my next purchase will be the Expert Sleepers Disting EX, as it offers so much for a relatively modest price. My reasoning is that it will give me the opportunity to test out various utilities and help guide me in what would be worth getting as standalone modules. What are your thoughts?

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Disting is a great way to experiment with loads of different modular functions! I think there might be some granular stuff in there too ~ plus plaits and rings! :D

    • @TheDavidPoole
      @TheDavidPoole ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheUnperson yes, the granular algo looks very cool. The Plaits algo gives you 4 copies at once too. Not sure about the rings. 8 voice DX7 and 8 voice multisample engine. I've been looking through the Expert Sleepers videos on this and the Mk.4 and its just amazing.
      I'm also very interested in the quantizer, multi LFOs and Envelopes along with all the logic algos. I think I'll be using it in dual mode quite a lot for FX etc. too.
      Wonder if he'll come up with a Super Duper Disting EX++ Omega version 🤔😀😀

  • @chromosundrift
    @chromosundrift ปีที่แล้ว

    Your channel contains an interesting tension that could be an opportunity you relish and explore further.
    On one hand your music is a magical and primary seduction. On the other hand you helpfully demo gear which I hope helps you well in the usual ways.
    The balance is almost perfect! Well done and thank you. Something to consider is how your musical skill and tasteful jam selection can omit the beginner’s experience- whether that is in the modular or musical dimension.
    I wonder if there is room for some exploration of your points of struggle or to imagine and show what it may be like to face frustration or limitation when using this gear. “See how this is out of tune now… I have learned key positions for this knob… so this really needs the filter… modulating this needs attenuation because the voltage range from this is x but that expects y”. When you do show things like this I have benefited the most. Contrasting with manufacturers demos using golden takes by virtuoso stars, the TH-cam gear demo crowd doesn’t need to trash gear to be balanced, it may be enough to show some more of how the sausage is made or figure out how to use ugly outtakes that are instructive.
    Either way thanks again Allie ☮️

    • @TheUnperson
      @TheUnperson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey cheers for the kind words! The videos I put on my patreon are a bit more raw and often include my first explorations of modules before I make a more polished video for TH-cam. But I like your idea. It might be fun to set up a camera when I literally know nothing about a module - that can be the most frustrating part of getting a new module. All the anticipation turns into frustration lol
