You two are such a nice couple . Miss Liberty is ultra good looking and wow she has such a nice smile and voice . You are such a blessed man to have such a wonderful woman and a nice boat. Guys the world over are dreaming of having such things
So nice to see you finally at sea after all that hard work. Wait til you get the rigging settled. Once you get under sail it will be so much nicer!!! Congratulations!!!
Fun Fact: All that shallow water around the river channel was the beach 10-15,000 years ago when sea level was much lower & glaciers were beginning to recede. People were living on the beach & underwater archeologists are finding remnants, i.e. Clovis Point tools, etc. As seal levels rose, they kept moving inland. It was shown on a PBS documentary a couple weeks ago.
Helene and Ted, we are all so thankful your underway and off to the Bahama's! Certainly a uneventful shakedown after nearly 8 months in Yankeetown working on that dinghy. Enjoy the good life and try to stay off the sandbars. Bon Appetite, can't wait for those steaks on the grill!
I must have missed the episode. I hope you were able to resolve the chain plate issues. Yes, I would study the external Hull for damage before going offshore. Thx for bringing us along. 😊😊😊 John Ken
My hands were shaking also. That looked like a really hard hit. I already thought you were perfect Helene, but to find out you like cold pizza. 🥰We gotta get you down to bikini weather Helene. Nice to see you finally off on a new adventure. I'm already looking forward to the next video. Stay safe. ❤🙏
You know you have got a keeper when she dives into the $5 pizza ( 2 for $10!) even if they do skimp on the cheese😂 Must say I did expect more drama on the initial sail but you guys looked right at home. Great effort for the first on water video. Enjoyed.
Hey! Thanks actually this is our second time out. First time out we lost steering. And ran aground. Check it out if you like: Shakedown Cruise FIRST SAIL We Lost the Steering! th-cam.com/video/siAbTBGdubQ/w-d-xo.html Thanks, Helena Ps. There are more videos about sailing to the haul out.
If you get rid of the” skully’s catches of the day” you will pick of a few knots of speed. 😂 glad to see you guys on the water. It’s been a long journey for you two.
So pleased to see you finally got there. Remember .. the voyage is the adventure, not the destination. It was 49 years ago to the day when I set sail on the voyage to England on a big ship. She was the SS Australis, formerly the SS America. Take care and enjoy the sunrises and sunsets, the best in the world at sea. Aroha from New Zealand. 🥰
So glad you are on your great adventure way! We started ours in August, 23, from Lake Michigan. Went east through the Erie Canal and down to Florida. Then to the Bahamas and back to Florida. When I first started cruising in 2008, after weekend sailing since 1979, I met an elderly couple, that’s me now, while at anchor at south Manitou Island in Lake Michigan. They shared with us that they had sailed everywhere in the world and there was no better cruising grounds in the world than right here. Well, I had to have my own experience, and I did. Once we entered the intracostal waterway at Norfolk it was just work. They call it “the ditch” for a reason. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. The Bahamas were awesome, but challenging. It truly is a “third world country”. Now, we are back in Florida and trading our boat for a motor home to tour the USA. We’ll spend summer of ‘25 in Michigan and sail Lake Michigan…….the best sailing grounds in the world!
Decoy heard Helen's voice and came out from under the car hollering!!! Great to see y'all living the dream! Stay safe and keep those red skies @ night ! Your friends "Mac & Decoy"❤
@@WalterMcCallister Thank you Mac! We miss you and especially Tiny Little Decoy! May her days be filled with most delicious treats and lot of pets. Cheers, Ted and Helen
You guys are characters! Best of luck. For dinghy towing, either remove the engine, or at least tip it up. Tons less drag!! Still pretty chilly here in the Bahamas.
I'm so happy for you guys. Finally on the water after all the work you put in to get the boat ready. Good luck and enjoy your lives there will be good and bad times. Y'all can concur anything together. Stay strong. God bless
Hey, Glad to see that you are on your way. That one segment of the video looked like Clearwater Beach. Oh, have you dived in and checked the hull after that encounter with the rock? just to be safe of course. See you next time.
Congrats on getting out of the river and heading south. Couldn't tell but you should have red lights in cockpit and headgear for night vision. Also does your Nav screen and tablet have a night mode. Didn't matter much with full moon, but will with less light- does make for red video however. If you think you might be prone to seasickness, get the meds or patches or consider electronic rechargeable battery seaband that start at $80 on Amaz.
Helen, your so beautiful and first thing in the morning and you kick your coffee, you have had two coffees and you are getting giddy, lots of funny and putting up the for sail because it’s Slooooshyy, you are a very exciting person, What a shipmates ! Happy sailing you two mates, sunshine and bikini weather ahead 🇨🇦Cdn. Dave 🇨🇦🙏❤️
The journey begins😮kinda! Get all the hiccups out of the way. Then put on your sea legs and give it hell. Proud of you guys. God bless. STAY SAFE AND HAVE FUN
WOW ! That was a serious crash. Continue to check it out, please (especially near the bow ?) . That cell must have had a world class case on it to not let water in and ruin the phone. Your leaving just in time, snow is coming and one guy showed live at 7 inches ! Brrr.
That was a total sh*tshow. There is a big concrete bolder in the middle of the channel. After hurricanes they don’t replace channel markers properly and we ran on the top of it. We did not scout until this marker funny enough because it seemed to be out of danger zone. Should have scouted whole channel. They attached the channel marker buoy outside of it. It was scarier than dangerously close being blown up in marina fire. We are in 60s and end of the week should be 70 F. Ted will dive tomorrow to check it out. Cheers, Helena
SAILED INTO THAT PORT before - so comforting after a 24 hr jump once you tied up take a pleasant dive and check the hull (JUST incase the crash might have had issues) just a thought- btw having trouble registering a thumbs up for some reason - why is that?
