Never watched Naruto but from what I am seeing it looks like everyone else had innate talent in some form of justu. Might Guy went for straight hardwork and dedication then decided to throw hands with one of the all time biggest BBEG in anime.
I loved Guy as a character but I feel like he should have died at the end of this fight. Naruto saving him takes away from the beauty of the sacrifice he was willing to make.
Kakash's dad was right. Guy was stronger than Kakashi even with the Juubito power. Also, it's unbelievable that he managed to sustain the 8th Gate and even doing so many techniques on top of it. Power of Youth was too strong. Even held him after the 8th Gate was over despite it supposedly being instant death.
