I hate how every big city loses their cool buildings as they develop.

In 1900 the Gruen Watch Co occupied an office located at Fountain Square, pictured on the right of the opening image before they built Time Hill on East McMillan in 1916. Where was "The Arcade" in 1910 at 2:15

My grandmother worked at Gruen, and also at nearby Beau Brummel. About the Arcade...I will look it up and post here.
"The Emery Arcade connected the Emery Hotel and Race Street one block west. Built in 1877, it predated shopping malls with stores, offices, a restaurant, and hotel all under one roof. The glass roof was 40 feet in height, with two stories on each side. The arcade passageway was 15 feet wide with gaslights hung in the center. Destroyed in 1929 to make way for the Carew Tower and its new arcade, which is still in use today." (2010)

Such incredible pictures of a time long gone. I have no connection to the city but just love seeing all these pictures! Looking at details, the people. Who might they be, what were their lives like, etc. Amazing! Thank you for sharing!
