I recently bought 2 guitars from China on Aliexpress, a Strat and a Tele. After changing a few things and fine tuning them, they are now my favorite guitars and they are as good as my other $2000 guitars… I'm pretty sure I was lucky to find a good seller/luthier who made good guitars.
You might feel lucky. But I’ve gotten some incredible stuff from builders. It’s more uncommon to get a bad one now-a-days. Very happy for you. Thanks for watching!
250$ is a steal. I don't know how playable it is since I can't understand it from a video but from a superficial standpoint it looks really really good. It really gives the vibe of a John Mayer signature even tho there's no gold hardware but hey you can spend 250/300$ and swap things and make it a really solid and plyable instrument.
It’s pretty darn good but the frets aren’t level. The action is too high, so I might need to do that myself. Which I haven’t done. Shouldn’t be too hard though. Got a bit of a refund on AliExpress too 😎 second part coming soon!
I bought a fake Stevie Ray Vaughan Strat and took out the tuners and tremolo with an actual Grover set of tuners and an authentic fender tremolo. I had a set of pick ups on the side that I installed them into this day everybody swears it an original re-issue of Stevie’s “number one.”
Most of these company's are just custom shops that post the guitars online and when someone orders it they build it and ship it. Prob why it takes so long to get. Most say its 1-3 months for shipping but they also include making the guitar in that
Have you made any progress on upgrades for this? I’m curious to see a follow-up video. Seems like it could be a nice piece with some fret leveling, new strings, and new pickups. Also, what did you search on Ali to find it?
@@Thesupermuse04 not at all. They’re just using spray paint like you’d find in a Home Depot. I’ve heard sometimes frets might contain led but I think that’s very rare. You can always talk with sellers about specs and things and ask for pictures before purchasing
@@TheMixWithABD thanks! I bought them in december and played em all this time. felt well but those days had anxiety cause of this‚ because i know some chinese dresses or clothes can be toxic so i got scared! Di you think they were controlled by European customs?
I’m still hoping to find the store you got this from. You said the frets weren’t level. I’m hoping it’s not the store that I am looking at than. Because this chender im looking at looks a lot like the one your playing.
I don’t age my guitars by playing them. Sometimes a little ding or nick. My guitar is never going to look relic-ed tho unless I buy it that way. This is just a cheap knockoff.
So the pick ups aren’t that great that’s the first thing we’re gonna switch out, then I’m noticing the bridge isn’t the best so we’ll get a new bridge system in there and I’m noticing that the tuners aren’t locking, for that matter I have some strings laying around that are pretty nice,And what the heck might as well switch out the body and the neck while we’re digging around the shop… And there you go

I bet those are ceramic pickups!
It's a fake Chinese copy from John Mayer's signature guitar Black1.
It’s actually a rory gallagher
Rory Gallagher? Rory's guitar body is a sunburst with relic finish, and from John Mayer's guitar body is black with relic finish.
On Ali express they have it listen as Gallagher but after looking myself at the two guitars you are correct it’s a John Mayer copy.
