So many 1700 graves and still readable!! Very interesting graveyard! Church had character. The whole place had the feeling of walking back in time for some reason! Thanks Grave!
Close to 300 years old the Barrd? Tomb still standing, all the more reason the village or town should get volunteers to restore and clean them up a Grand Heritage.
Astounding crypts and tombs, what a find! I had no idea that you had Magnolia trees in Ireland. They are very common in the southern United States. Thanks so much for sharing this graveyard with us.
This was a great video. I like the old church and cemetery. 300 years old with growth on the tombstones. It would be nice to do a clean and some kind of sealing on the stone. The inside of the Mausoleum looked in great shape.
Just never get enough of the beautiful old churches. If we only knew those who worshipped there and memories made then we end up under a grave stone. No one escapes. Some rich some poor. The stone work is remarkable. Great video GV . You and Sue are the best❤😊❤😊
Thank you for this walk. I love the old, ruined church and the beautiful, tiled floor. So interesting. It's a shame they don't build churches like this anymore.
That cemetary has so many old grave stones, there is so much mildew on them. Here in the U.S. you never see stones so old. Its fasinating to see such an old cemetery.
Whar a beautiful place the Barry family are in and so much history way back to the 1917 thank you for sharing 💚☘And what a great find the cheast tomb from the 1600 💚☘
The church ruins are in good condition, considering their age. The mausoleums were also fascinating, and in fair condition. Did you say the Barry earls are buried in the floor of the mausoleum? The headstone 🪦 dated 1684 I thought was very interesting. I thought your comment about the " hounds of the Baskervilles " was very amusing. Thank you very much GV and Sue, for another great walking tour. Have a great weekend. 😊
This was a fascinating tour GV , loved the old Barrymore mausoleum and the ruins of the old church thise stairs were kinda weird but maybe it led to where the coffins were and now sealed but wow great find ❤
Anno Domino is latin for The Year of the Lord. Very grateful for my Latin classes in secondary school. The Barrymore name came from a British Barony awarded to English Barons who were awarded Irish land. Not to be celebrated methinks. Do you and Sue ever cover small Catholic graveyards? They would be very interesting, given the loss of freedom native Irish suffered before their freedom.
Was the tiles black and white? Wondered if they were that they could be masonic? They like big elaborate places. Black and white tiling is known for them. I really know if they were back in those days. Just was asking.
This is another Great Video thank you we doing well where buying a new house and closing on the 25 of May or sooner after the fire we had in our old place on February 5 and being in the hospital burn ward till the 17 staying in a hotel for 2 months we are ready to move Love your videos and have a great day
It looks like the one chest tomb has masonic symbols on it. The Devonshire connected one. The letter A has the compass and the square engraved in it. Lovely video, you guys! ❤
@@GraveVisitations Sure is. Automatically makes me think about even earlier people, including the actual abbys and their monks, not to mention local people of the time(s).
I think you may have found the oldest chest tomb to be outside a church. At least in ireland. Does anyone know for sure? Cee from the little haunted cottage in ireland 💚💚💚🍀🍀🍀
I love the Angels very strange about the other one with the stairs they must have been Buried down under lovely video GV lovely old headstone take care GV see you on the next one night night
What a wonderful video, I always enjoy your videos, beautiful cemeteries, just like fairy gardens, thank you for all the history you share, and the stories, thank you for the great walks and adventures ❤
Amazing someone lived that long 88 years in the 1600's. If one lived to be 40 to 50 they were "aged" back in those days. I wonder if the Barrymore family buried here is related to the theatrical Barrymores in the USA, John, Lionel and Ethel.
A curator of a large graveyard told me that men’s shaving cream will show the writing on old graves-just spray on your hand and run your hand on the gravestone- it does not harm the gravestone or metal. It worked for us
Thanks!
Joel thank you much appreciated 🙏
You can't believe that some tombs are still looking so good after so many years that past. Gorgeous ❤❤

Beautiful old graveyard with a lot of history. Loved the church ruins and those old gravestones! I love the writing and

Very peaceful and serene graveyard. It felt nostalgic somehow.
Thanks for the lovely walk.

What a fascinating place. Great camera work on the church and in the Mausoleums. Thank you 😊

Another great location ! Wonder what happened to all those stained glass panels? Probably used in another church somewhere. Well done video. 😊👍

John Newtons headstone is awesome❤
Another beautiful graveyard and church ruins ❤
Amazing to hear my family name, of Cotter mentioned! Many of whom immigrated to the US.
Glad you found a connection 🇮🇪👍
The Barrymores are also in California. Beautiful chripts
Some nice old historical ones there. I think I could hear a Chiffchaff (Tiuf-teaf) at about 21:45🐦

No idea Arleen to be honest with you. It is a super age for back then for sure.
I love the old churches ❤
They are beautiful architecture
Wow this grave is from 1683 it is 340 years old.I wonder what his life was like, so interesting.🙏

Hi GV I've been quiet for a little bit. Because of my Grandmother passing away. So I hope you and Sue are doing well.
Hi Lauren we are sorry for your loss 🙏❤️
@@GraveVisitations Thank you GV ❤
Instead of a Mausoleum, could it have been a private chapel, and the people aer in tumbled underneath
Hi i looked up the fox symbol means in 1600s its a sign of to keep away demons.
I'm here feral Sheryl
Thanks Beth x
88 years is a 105 now, must be the Irish air.
The Guinness lol
There was an Irish pub one mile away, stopped by Covid, I miss it.
Da da da daaaaaaaaaaaa😮🎉😮🎉😮🎉😮🎉😮🎉😮🎉
Pity so many churches and graveyards were burned and ransacked by Henry the VIII . So much of our history, artifacts and family records lost .
Absolutely but we still have them standing I suppose con nice to see
I love all the old churches, however l don't want to see coffins in their cyripts. Very disrespectful
I think you are on the wrong channel then unfortunately
One has too pause and think that maybe a few hundreds years
after we’re gone, will there be folks making videos of our graves.
Something to ponder.
I hope so otherwise we are forgotten
