*supposed to happen before this but* "Proceed to the objective, we'll hold out as long as we can! (screams painfully) Get it off me!" "Suppressive fire, suppressive fire!"
Halo 2 being my first Halo, truly made me fear the flood as a kid. And after playing Ce and Halo 3, they can't touch on how truly scary they were. They were stupid fast, extremely aggressive, brutal, their look were horrific ( especially the human combat form in OG graphics), their sounds were gutteral and demonic. Their ambient noises in their dark and flood fog levels made were perfect for horror and fear. I'll never forget the introduction to them in Halo 2 when we can barely see their silhouettes and they slaughter the Heretics through the glass floor. Their screams and groans and they take off. Then adding the fear from the Elites and grunts did not help 😂😂😂
I was like 6 when I played Halo 2 for the first time, I used to call them the squiddies. But I did fucking hate the Sacred Icon level, it was so fucking scary to me. Wish I could wipe my mind of having played through it so, _so_ many times, and experience that horror as a grown man.
@@Tommy-or6ti Man I could not play any of the levels dealing with the flood. I always had to hand over the controller to my brother 😂😂 it was the Flood and Chucky that had put absolute fear in my heart as a kid. Now as an adult, I love them
@@CarlosGarcía-b9u yeah I agree but the human combat forms are still the creepiest of the bunch. The way the look, the way they move, how fast they run, jump, aggressive, how they are hunched over and leaning when just standing or casually walking before they notice you're there. Nightmare fuel as a kid to me
The lore says the flood on this ring escaped 3,000 years after the firing of the array. They waged a 100,000-year stalemate with sentinels with neither being able to overpower the other. However, there were clues neatly placed throughout this mission to suggest that the Gravemind was on the verge of finally beating the sentinels and spreading across the wall. If weren't for the In Amber Clad looming over the library the Flood could have control over the ring.
_Hello, sustenance. Welcome to your grave, this is Flood Infestation ASMR, with me, the Gravemind. Today, we're going to be doing some demonic ambient reverb. Make sure to keep walking towards those sounds, go on, the only way to make the sounds stop is to keep on walking, no matter how painful it is on Heroic-Legendary, keeep walking_
I never realized how truly terrifying the Flood were until I was an adult. As a kid playing this in 2004 or so I just saw them as annoyances but then I realized how deadly and horrifying they were as a species. As Rtas Vadum quoted, "One single flood spores can destroy an entire species."
I recently found out that apparently, I lot of people think this is the "worst" Halo 2 level. I love it, man. So creepy and atmospheric. I love how they took the concept of the Flood being kinda-sorta space zombies, and dialed it up to eleven (and then to twelve in Halo 3). Those screams of anguish and pain in the distance are blood chilling. That Flood ambience is probably my favorite thing about all the Flood levels in any of the games.
The sound design for this game is truly off the chain. It's pants-shittingly amazing. I remember being 8 or 9 playing against the flood as the arbiter and immediately put the game down for a solid 3 months before I started a new game 😨 because of that level.
“Negative ma’am they are not covenant”

The Flood growls will revertebrate through those huge metallic Forerunner structures.

The polygonal and pixelated graphics really make video game monsters look scarier than they are

Just think, we were originally supposed to see the Juggernaut through that glass tearing through those ex-Covenant.

Corrupted Precursor space dust.
Sounds like a toilet flushing in the middle of the night
Halo 2 was my also my first. I had nightmares of the flood as a kid because of playing Heretic and Sacred Icon.
You know you're going to have a tough time when you hear the flood screams in Sacred Icon.
Being 5-6 years old in 2004, I was always scared but fascinated on what the flood are.
Halo 2s ambience is top fucking notch. Imo 2 had the best atmospheres and sound design. THIS is what brings maps to life.
Deep in my subconscious, this is my biggest fear.. imagine being Arbiter in this situation

Holy shit this is scary
It's so sad that newest Halo titles have no Flood at all in them.
We really have lost something in the process.

My very 1st rage quit and i was just a youngling
exactly what I was looking for thank you
We are the Beautiful GeneSong of Creation at its Peak Reclaimer
I am the Monument to all your sins
Here's my question how those marines where in there the first place 🤔 they where there before the arbiter came they guard the place 🤔
While Chief was busy riding the gondolas and closing in on Regret at the Halo's temple lake.. Keyes and Johnson were already pursuing the Library.
