Honestly, it's decent despite missing some stuff. As I said to someone else, I assume a few bits were removed to ensure stability but the core game is one of the better racing games I've played in a while.
I'm definitely going to buy this. Also, the fact that the DAF 95 X1 is in the game might be the most exciting! I love that truck!

Don't forget to explore the testtrack. It has multiple very fine tracks. Just drive outside and find out.👍🏻
Been playing a couple of days and really enjoying the game. Finding the handling a bit twitchy at times but I haven't looked into tuning yet. The Saudi terrain is very cool and dare I say it more interesting than Horizon 5 that I also play.
The landscape really is impressive! I will need to investigate the tuning stuff more but definitely some reduced steering angle, increased tyre pressure and using the joystick forward method helps a lot. Except for the quads, which just seem annoying.
You have to pay attention to the terrain ... Can't just go full throttle and not expect to lose control
I bought this for my Xbox One and for the first time in a long while I am enjoying a racing game.

I've honestly been impressed by what i see of dakar desert rally and it's deffinatly interesting enough for me to consider getting it. It's just last gen console performance (i still use my base Xbox one) i''m a bit worried about as some people on a discord are saying it runs ok but loses FPS when you race with the others nearby

I asked for an Xbox code to check it out but only got given a PC code. It seems like a pretty game so maybe it struggles on older consoles. I'll investigate! Thanks for watching.

This feels like if Dirt Rally and motorstorm had a baby, it's fantastic
at 0:52 a two ton truck bounces of the off the bow of a little wooden dingy boat sending it straight into the bridge. lol
They don't make dinghies like they used to.
It's pretty fun so far, but the physics need some work (going over a large sand bump at 200 kmph should net you dozens of feet of air, not 10) and the open world needs to be added asap. Other than that thing are pretty good, but i would love an upgrade system rather than just tuning
Fortunately the upgrade system is said to be coming later, one of a few things (I'm investigating).
Is it possible to switch of the visual aids like the driving line on the ground and the waypoint circles on every difficulty?
You can disable the UI in all modes, but Sport keeps its yellow waypoint circles.

My biggest problem so far is with the AI. they will happily get right in front of you or throw you of the road with ease. Another problem is the bikes which like to keep drifting forever no matter what.
they said already they will make ai less agressive.
Sometimes the AI is smart, other times it's super aggressive or dopey. I dedicated a section to it in my review. What I will say is the timing in professional is pretty consistent. As for the bikes, I didn't have that issue but then there are many bikes I've yet to test. The quads are meh though.
Stop playing casual mode and there is no problem with AI
The ai will also piledtive into you and spin you off and if you hit a motorcycle with a car or truck it will send you absolutely flying as if they are glued to the ground.
@@RaindancerAU there's a big problem with the ai and a person can play whatever difficulty mode they wish. It's not up to you to dictate how they play.
If I don't do online play with this game or any of my racing games which I usually don't have the time to spend, and with only 7 tracks to race AI with and no 3rd party modding, I don't think this game is worth getting at this time. I do race in VR, so when that becomes available, I will see where the game is at that time.
I do have RFactor 2 and RFactor and enjoy both games in VR - plus much more content to choose from in these games. So for me it is a wait and see for Le Mans. Most the tracks in this game are also in my current racing games.

I’m having a hard time following the waypoints in in cockpit view but then again I suck with directions lol. I bought the game only because I love rally box trucks. Gonna take some time to get used to it. Only technical issue I have had on series X so far is audio settings glitching out and not saving lol
I'm tempted to do a guide. I usually focus on the cap and glance at the next direction to give me what to expect next and ensure I'm not following the wrong thing. Also watch the stage line on the side, if you're going the wrong way it will not move towards the next check point or it will move slowly.
This of course depends on the UI settings and the cockpit view you use, plus the vehicle type. Good luck!
Looks like a good Game, but the lack of vehicle modifications and customization is dissapointing, if the Dakar is famous for something is because you can RACE It in anything, It comes to my mind the R4 of the marreau brothers, the Suzuki samurai from accesoris Manresa. And the Peugeot 504 of "personal taxi team"

Hi. I want to know whether the game has that feature where a car gets stuck in the sand dunes and the driver steps out tries to remove sand with shovel and adds traction equipment ?
No, towing and rescue were mentioned in the original press materials but for reasons I've not been told (but asked) it was taken out. A fair few things are being added later, likely including this.

I haven't got this game but if their is no free Roam I'm going to be sad honestly it looks wonderful as a freeroam game they add that I will get the game guarantee
Love everything about this game so far except the steering! It seems way too slow to me. I'm used to Dirt Rally where you can go full lock to lock really quick and avoid last minute obstacles. Even in an ATV if I go full countersteer with a controller it just doesn't react. But then go up a hill you suddenly catch....something....and you end up 180, no fault of your own. The trucks seem more appropriately slow, but still suffer from excessively slow steering rate. I've got steering sensitivity at 100 and I tune the steering angle all the way up and it's still not enough. I'm sad about this because I'm really struggling to enjoy this otherwise great game. There's so much countersteering in off-road racing and I can't even do it, really, on controller anyways.
The bikes, cars and trucks seem least prone to those oversteer moments. But not always. Try upping the tyre pressure first then try the maximum steering angle. You can also lean the joystick forward to make steering inputs smoother and slow down at descents as the shift in gravity seems to really emphasise the issue. Hopefully that helps a bit.
I'm loving it - been playing it since launch, and it hasn't disappointed. The create-a-team feature not being available from the start was a let-down, but at least it's coming.
Glad to hear it, seems like the developer should have been a little more transparent with things missing but it really is a solid and immersive game. I'm hoping to see lots of updates along the way.
can you exit the vehicle, and stuff like in the '18? or the only good feature that I never actually used is not present?

Thanks Ben. I am running on the Series X and it a beautiful game. My biggest gripe is the co-driver's voice, it is irritating.
Somebody said he sounds like the copilot voice in a plane, which seems accurate. Glad you're enjoying it. I am trying to work out how to make the quadbikes less difficult to drive...
Can you do a test drive with a friend online?
I'm hoping to bring attention to an issue with the game on xbox series x having frame rate drops while in performance mode, while I hope they realise the issue exists there seems to be no way to report bugs for the game.
Is there no official forum or email? I'll see if I can get in touch with the devs and see what works best.

I was okay with the more arcade nature, but no manual shifting.... I'm not so sure now.
You can still shift up and down in semi automatic, it feels like a manual as far as I've seen.

Have you figured out how to start a new career? After I'd completed a handful of races, I wish I'd have started differently and can't figure out how to start over
I've seen a few people mention this, apparently deleting the save is best and that makes sense if there is no other option. Did you want another vehicle type?
@@ATribeCalledCars Yeah, wishing I'd have started with the DLC car instead of a motorcycle, and somehow I got charged for the free DLC Truck, (In Game) I've even deled and re-installed the game with no results
@@getbent5639 Weird. Maybe a cloud save is keeping you from fully deleting. You can also complete a series of stages and a sponsor offer appears, which can mean a decent vehicle. You just have to use it in one event to keep it.
Free roam is coming this year apparently ✅️

Bought the deluxe ed. Can't play, no support (locked) for fanatec wheel. Developer / Steam should be upfront about this pre- purchase.
It's weird, my Fanatec wheel is detected but no steering. Other wheels seem to be better although obviously I've not tried all! I've been told to expect an update next week so we shall see. It's a bit annoying.

ATV's Physics are broken and causes you to crash WAY too often. Its like the front of the quads are stuck to the ground and causes physics to go all GTA4 Swingset glitch on you.
Wut : 2CV is not meta. Audi eTron things go 165kph basicly the same as the ATV's and 2CV's. If you start in the back of the back and with the bike with sidepod the AI driving you at the time will try to hit the other drivers causing them to veer left into the starting line crew in a tent locking up the game.
i want to love this game, same as i wanted to love dakar 18 before, but they both have the same problem to me : they feel dull. i mean, i'm a big dakar and rally raid/desert racing fan, i know how navigation-based rally raid works, so i don't expect baja 1000 levels of frantic speeds on desert tracks, i know it's slower, more deliberate, but as it's presented in this game, it's not "calm and controlled", it's boring. it's frustrating, too, because that this is legitimately beautiful, and i love the idea, i understand what it tries to do, and, to be fair, i actually succeeds at doing it, but, yea.... it bores me. and i know exactly why it bores me : i can't shake that weird feeling of how "fake" all of it seems. don't get me wrong, i wasn't expecting a simulation, either, i'm not talking realism, here, but "game feel". and this game doesn't feel "right", nothing ever really clicks. i can't wrap my head around the physics model, the copilot is frankly gritting my hears, i don't find the trackdesign interesting (navigation feels completely random, like nobody actually tried to *design* a course and just blindly put points on a map).... sure, it looks pretty, but it plays shallow. it's like all the fuctions are there but they aren't put together, yet.
Sport mode definitely feels contrived but things improve in professional and simulation. I am wondering how the devs could make it more immersive beyond VR and maybe some other details but I suspect the real life thing can get boring too. Empty roads for thousands of kilometres, it's probably not all fun. Although if anyone asked me to go I would lol.
Is there a way to restart career mode? I regret the car I picked as it’s not very good.

I found you can make money fairly fast so worst case you can always buy another. And winning a race series gives you a sponsorship vehicle.

I saw a clutch mention when trying to calibrate my wheel but I didn't see a button for it. If it exists it would show up in the controller options area.

I have a hard time enjoying the game. I was hoping that there would be a great handling but the game is basicly designed to go on a straight line and nothing else. There’s no ejoyment trying to slow down for some effictive turns or enjoy how the physics effect the vechicle. I can tell there’s a good simulation engine underneath from snowrunner but they desided to force the game to ignore it.
I find most vehicles usable, but the quads. I'm really not loving trying to do their races to unlock vehicles.

A bit annoyed with this release. At the same time im very happy we got another one. 18 was my intro but due to how awful and buggy that was it scared me off of this one. I want to see your review and then I may make my mind up again.
It is coming, just waiting on this week's promised update. I really enjoyed the game but the AI definitely needs some work in Sport mode and the quad bikes are annoying.

It's a mix, some realism but also some accessibility. If you like Forza Horizon it's good. Although even iRacing has its arcadey elements if you look hard enough lol.
@@ATribeCalledCars I play AC and DR2.0 but I can enjoy Forza, or even Snowrunner. But at that specific time I pointed appeared to be quite bad, I'm happy it isn't.
@@ral0958 Oh yeah some moments are worse than others, you are right. But generally it is mostly enjoyable. The quad bikes are pretty bad overall.

@@DJRealius1 Same stage in each vehicle type, gets easier as you remember the waypoints so save the vehicle you find hardest to drive until last!

As someone who also bought the game early, and has played today, I would definitely NOT buy the game yet.
Why? Because on my system, even though it fulfills the minimum requirements and has no further issues, the game crashes every time the tutorial ends.
There's also many reports coming from others about varying other problems that have no possible causes client-side.
AKA, the game may be buggy (no pun intended) as hell on some systems - to the point of being potentially unplayable!
I've opened a support ticket on the crashing problem, and I'll keep this comment updated when there's any progress...
Sounds annoying, honestly I've not had one crash or issue. This is the most stable launch game I've had in a year or two and it didn't even really update before the release date, which is unusual. I suspect stuff was taken out to ensure what is included works okay. Hopefully those affected get a fix soon!
All LOOKS amazing but those pace notes are the least fluid bit of auto generated speech since sat-navs in the 1990s.

I really didn’t like the physics, the ai, the ui, the settings or the navigators voice. It has such good potential but it just frustrated me. Maybe I was doing something wrong. But got a full refund on Xbox which was good I guess

Interesting. I can understand the physics on the quad bikes and some other vehicles but you didn't even enjoy the bikes or trucks? I talk about the AI in my review - definitely a mixed bag in Sport mode. At least you gave it a go.
The quads and bikes handle so badly. They really need to tweak the handling before I pick the game up again.

Every so called racing or sim game needs at least a few minutes or highlights in TV style replay cams.This game don't have it.ACC and moto gp games are fine examples of TV style replays.
Anyone having issues with PS5 version? The frame rate in performance mode has been horrible. It drops under 60 frequently. This is really jarring in a racing game.
I've not tested, only had the PC version. I've heard a patch comes out next week, maybe that will help but I've not had confirmation.
I'm not interested because of the st### check points. it should of been just a race from A to B free roam game, anyway you can find to get there. so that's a fail again. free roam is the way to go now for any game.
It's coming in a future update, I'm unsure why it was removed or isn't quite ready as I know people would enjoy it.

Thank you for this video ... another piece which pretends to be "a realistic simulation" ... but tuning rear wheels toe angle ... on a Tatra chassis? Are we still in the 90's or what? I'm disappointed :(
I tell you what, two and a half years ago when I stumbled upon a little game called (Mudrunner) because it was on sale, then Snowrunner and the rest is history. Long story short before 7 phases of Snowrunner, a couple hundred smart-ass youtube posts on various channels (because I try to pretend like I know what’s going on) racing was my thing. The Dirt Rally 2.0 RPM gauge is permanently burned in the bottom right hand corner of my aging plasma tv. 🤣 I mean from Gran Turismo, to Project Cars, and let’s not forget WRC, that was my world. With all that history and and thirty six million gameplay hours behind me and my trusty PS4 controller, I can honestly say that Dakar 18 is the most the most retarded game ever made. I am definitely interested in your review vid for the new one. ✌️😬✌️
The Fact they where not able to implement basic Wheel Axis support is beyond me. They support 15 different Thrustmaster Wheels, and everything that gets more expensive is not useable at Launch. No Fanatec No Simucbube no Heusinkveld.
Piss poor performance for a "Simulation" Racing Game
It's really frustrating, I was excited to add my thoughts on the GT DD Pro. Apparently next week we will see a relevant update, I hope that's true. It's weird all works except for the steering.

They have been Promoting Fanatec and Heusinkveld Support since June on their Website!! The logos are there the Wheels are listed.. you get my point.
@@XxsubkillerxX It is odd, I guess the decision to remove was not taken lightly or there was that old crunch thing at the end and mistakes were made. I really hope it gets rectified as I think it would be an even more enjoyable game with it.

I have found after many hours of racing that the AI love to cut you off and be an a**

Missing features yeah, but I still really enjoyed it. I've basically completed it.
I'm using cheat engine straight away after the first race to unlock that simulation mode. its ridiculous to force player to play Dakar for baby before able to unlock the hardcore mode. All i want from a Dakar race is a 500+ km rally experience per stages.

Sorry I can't trust your videos for 2 reasons. You didn't warn people of 2 HUGE problems! 1. The fact that there is a issue with at least the cars and quads where you can't turn at all when you hit the brakes and 2. A more serious issue... the absolutely suicidal AI that do everything in their power to crash into you. If you played for tens of hours as you say then there is no way you didn't notice this. If you're gonna suggest people get this game then at least tell them the bad stuff as well!
1. You can turn with the cars, there's actually footage of it in my video and more coming. The quads are bad and I mention that smaller vehicles are not usually as easy to control. Also I've held off releasing my video review but there has been a long written one since day one. As for the AI, I also talk about that. Except as my stats in game reveal, I've clearly got first most of the time and AI becomes less of an issue as you reach Professional and Simulation. People who have not got this far don't see this but it is a thing.
@A Tribe Called Cars thank you for the reply but I have to correct something. I think you misunderstood me. I didn't mean you can't turn in the cars and quads...I mean when you have the break applied, you are unable to turn at all. By brake I mean the brake/ reverse button. I had to stop racing the cars because of it. And yes the quads are crazy to control but that's not what I was talking about either. I had the same turning/braking issue with those as well. Also I will add, and should have before... other then that I did like your video. 👍
@@iamcablegi2010 Ahhh I see, well that can be because the wheels have locked and/or no ABS so you just go straight on. It is not a good habit to brake and steer anyway, always better to reduce speed before the corner unless trail braking, but I know what you mean. The trucks suffer from it too, something I noticed as I collided with various rocks and trees lol. I am still waiting on the latest update, running out of days this week...
@A Tribe Called Cars yeah turning and braking prolly comes from hundreds of hours of rally and rally cross games. Question... are you saying that when you push your brake/ reverse button, on the cars and quads, your steering doesn't lock up? I've played countless hours of racing games and I've never seen this before. I literally had to stop using the cars in this game because it was ruining the game for me.
@@iamcablegi2010 The cars a little, the quads moreso. But I usually brake while going straight then turn. It is typically more of a thing with assists off in Assetto Corsa, iRacing and other 'simulators' but can happen in off-road games too where locked wheels plus slippery terrain can go wrong. A lot of people who want maximum control actually adjust the braking level and pressure to ensure maximum braking without locking up. I will give this more of a look in Dakar.
Oh dear god, *please* tell me you can change that dreadful american accent of the navigator to something else!!!!! Nothing against my american friends but to me it sounds like he's trying really hard to sell you a car or something. (Maybe someone can do a "Fiona Bruce" mod?)

Nothing just Dakar Forza arcade game for average 10 years old gamers. This game have nothing to do with simulation. So Dakar it's only on the title the rest have not so much to do with real Dakar event and extremely conditions in real race. But for small players yeah could be good fun just like Mario kart racing game.
Try professional and simulation, it's really not that simple.

The game is great , until the AI crashed into you or they crashed in front of you ALL THE TIME 🥲
I soon learned to drive slightly to the side, especially knowing it likes to crash. I heard an AI fix is coming.

Where is the FFB for wheel support! Is nobody going to mention this issue or what? I guess I’m the only one that thinks that missing element is a bit of a problem right? 🥸😡😤
I mention it in my review coming soon, I was told to expect an update next week for my particular Fanatec wheel. Really hope the devs make the effort because it would really add to the immersion.
Not sure how something as important as proper wheel functionality slipped through the QC.cracks at release, but history shows this dev has issues with controls support so it’s not a complete surprise.
