    Any tips for catching spring muskies in shallow inlets? Was out with my son last week fishing for bass right where a decent sized creek feeds into a larger reservoir. Saw two pairs of huge muskies swimming parallel to the bank, only about 10 feet out, in 4-5 ft. deep fairly-clear water. Never caught a musky in my life, but picked up some rubber musky dawgs to give it a try. Will they bite in shallow water, or are they too easily spooked? I threw my topwater bass lure right in front of them and splashed ripped it back a few times to try to create a commotion, and they didn't give it a second look. I'm guessing the lure was too small to grab their attention. But I'm no musky fisherman. Just hoping to get lucky this weekend.

    I had an Abu Garcia reel that the anti-reverse wouldn't work when it was really cold. I learned to always thumb the spool on hook sets. You should try it, might have got you that fish.

    I've caught quite a few 50+inch Muskies on the river in my backyard. But in doing so if ur looking for a good musky lure get a SwimWiz. That is all u need the key to catching muskies longer than your leg

    What about the line? Braid, mono, flouro? Weight? I fish heavy weed beds in Quebec. How do you keep the lures from collecting cabbage on the hooks as you pull them through? That Medusa doesn't look too weedless.

    • @chriskraczek2675
      @chriskraczek2675 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most guys use 65 or 80 pound braid. He's using a fluorocarbon leader, probably in the 120-135 pound range. Rubber baits like the medussa or bulldawg can be worked through weed beds successfully. They are fished like a jerk bait with rips to the side or up depending on how deep you want them to run. You will hit weeds, but a hard rip will pull most of them off the hooks and is a great way to trigger fish.

    YO I’m a beginner musky angler. I got 2 questions. Do I need flouro or does steel wire work fine? And also what are best all around baits?

    • @bigj3086
      @bigj3086 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most ppl run 80 to 120lb floro leaders nowadays. Wire will also work fine. Some baits like one or the other keep that in mind. Hard to beat blades, jerkbaits, or rubber? Sorry I'm not Robbie but my personal 2cents.
