Never mind the theatrics, the song itself is every bit as epic as any Journey song ever was- and with the girls vocals and the key changes, and then the video that could be called “Last Suppper Food Fight”- you really beak the mold, y’all
I'm not going to lie, when I first started listening to this song, I thought I wasn't going to be a song I really warmed up to. I've now listened to it three times in a row, quoted lyrics and shared it on facebook. Well played.
Lyrics You might think that it’s funny But there’s really no way to find the time To do this purely for money Unless you want to get bored and toe the line So take a seat at our table And drink so deeply from the cup that I provide For thought the liquid’s unstable With every sip you will know that you’re alive And through the cities and the wild We’re taking over So come and sing your last lullaby This house is my house So bring me fire, I’ll burn it all to ashes It’s my life and it’s fine And I will cry with laughter as I trash it Well is it the parents or is it a phase? This tiresome desire to shock and amaze And so perhaps I’ll grow out of it one of these days I don’t know But now I’m clutching at shadows Draped in ridiculous clothing every night So monumentally shallow And yet this shade of discomfort feels so right Cause there are things that are worthless But they are nothing in the eyes of history That old celestial circus With teeth and fingernails I’ll carve a place, you’ll see And through the cities and the wild We’re taking over So come and sing your last lullaby This house is my house So bring me fire I’ll burn it all to ashes It’s my life and it’s fine And I will cry with laughter as I trash it Well is it the parents or is it a phase? This tiresome desire to shock and amaze And so perhaps I’ll grow out of it one of these days I don’t know But at the dawning of this fight we kissed a sweet goodbye and off I sauntered for the cure And even if the sky turns dark and hurls down bolts of lightning I will laugh and scream for more This house is my house So bring me fire I’ll burn it all to ashes It’s my life and it’s fine And I will cry with laughter as I trash it Well is it the parents or is it a phase? This tiresome desire to shock and amaze And so perhaps I’ll grow out of it one of these days But for the moment I’m alright
In all reality, I'd say a Gleeful Jesus as a realistic human would be this. It's joy within life and an understanding of imminent death with no regrets. But also, being annoyed some don't get or care to understand what has been done for and granted to. Plus, at the end, he still says finally, "fuck it," and eats what he was bestowing upon everyone to see what its like. I mean, he even has a fun conversation with John and called out Judas, yet let them/she/him still enjoy the aftermath.

Thanks, Tinee! No, they were donated by the magnificent Dunns Bakery, Crouch End.

Lyrics
You might think that it’s funny
But there’s really no way to find the time
To do this purely for money
Unless you want to get bored and toe the line
So take a seat at our table
And drink so deeply from the cup that I provide

So bring me fire, I’ll burn it all to ashes
It’s my life and it’s fine
And I will cry with laughter as I trash it
Well is it the parents or is it a phase?
This tiresome desire to shock and amaze
And so perhaps I’ll grow out of it one of these days
I don’t know
But now I’m clutching at shadows
Draped in ridiculous clothing every night
So monumentally shallow
And yet this shade of discomfort feels so right
Cause there are things that are worthless
But they are nothing in the eyes of history
That old celestial circus
With teeth and fingernails I’ll carve a place, you’ll see
And through the cities and the wild
We’re taking over
So come and sing your last lullaby
This house is my house
So bring me fire I’ll burn it all to ashes
It’s my life and it’s fine
And I will cry with laughter as I trash it
