This is the city I was born and grew up in, gives brings me sadness to know this Glasgow has gone but I have the happy memories. Does anyone else remember the busses that upstairs was for smokers and if you went up when it was full the smoke was thick, smell of sulphur from matchsticks striking and people were coughing whilst they sucked down more smoke, empty Embassy, woodbine,Park drive, Bristol and Players No6 fag packets all over the floor .😅 I laugh when I think back how crazy that was..

My mother was a tram driver in Glasgow. She appears at the very end of a BBC documentary. She's 87, now.

Yes she does. She talks about it all the time. She said that before the Coronation tram (that type of tram had a seat and door), the trams she drove had no seat (she stood all the time), or door, so the weather just came in. She has albums full of great photos, but I can't find them at the moment. They had a nickname for at the time, it was Miss Smiles, because she always smiled and had a nice personality. She was also a very attractive woman and highly intelligent. She also did some modelling for a catalogue at the time. My mother drove the number 9, so she could be driving the one in your video.@@colinburrowes8063

Glasgow used to be so beautiful. There were so many buildings and areas unnecessarily demolished by the city father's at the time. Glasgow is an absolute midden today.

It had so much character back then, in the street everyone knew each other and it had a certain warmth. That's all gone now.

@@JohnnysCafe_ I agree. I don't even know half of my neighbours and hardly recognise anybody in the street anymore. I didn't notice community spirit when I was a wee boy as like all kids I was busy playing with my pals but looking back now there was community spirit in abundance and I don't see, feel or sense any in today's Glasgow.

So sad to see how Glasgow is now. We used to have a good tram system in the city then it was ripped up for diesel/petrol transportation....now everyone is banging on about electric cars'n buses...this would cost millions to get back to a tram system. Where did it all go wrong.
I lived in Zurich for 20 years and they still have the old tram/electric buses , cars and cycle lanes in the city...
Some things have improved but I wouldn't go into the city for a night out anymore.

Those who have made the decisions have tried to save money in the short term, and ignored the future. I think the answers to our problems lie in the past.
