  • MOLEK - BIOGRAPHY "Power Thrash Metal band from Turin (Italy)":
Molek was a metal band from Turin (Italy) whose birth dates back to 1999; and the name was taken from the Fenician demon-god called also Moloch.
The band was originally composed by Carlo Fusco -- guitar, Agostino
Formichella -- vocals, Gianluca Greco -- bass and Marco Pampo -- drums; and they began playing together various cover songs in order to find the right feeling and the right musical tendency to follow.
In April 2002 the guitarist Danilo Bonuso joins the band, an old friend
of Marco (since both of them came from the province of Lecce), ex member of the melodic death metal band Extinction from Lecce split up in 1997 (demo "Progress Regress" '96) and of the project Oblio (demo "Fuori dal buio" 2000); and he will be the most composer.
With this line-up, the band begins composing the own tracks that reflect
the musical tastes of the five members; the same can be said about their cover songs (In flames, Paradise Lost, Dark Tranquillity, Sentenced, etc.).
The kind of music played is Power Thrash Metal, with a particular
attention for the melodies of the lyrics.
It could be said that the style takes the main inspiration from the American
Power Metal (Nevermore, Annihilator, Iced Earth, etc.), with Scandinavian Thrash & Gothic influences (In Flames, Sentenced).
In 2001 the bass player Gianluca decides to leave the band for personal reasons and his place is taken by Ferruccio Actis Caporale.
In this way, the first live exhibitions begin in some clubs in Turin and
province, and in January 2003 the band releases the first auto-produced mini CD entitled "Source of Wyrd".
The mentioned CD was registered during the first week of November 2002 at the "One Voice Studios" of Daniele Giordana (already known as sound engineer of Biohazard, Agnostic Front, Obituary, etc.).
The lyrics of the five tracks (the sixth was instrumental), written by Agostino, speak about the concept "The journey of the Hero", in which the singer takes his inspiration from both the middle American and the Celtic mythologies, as can be noticed by reading the lyrics written in the accurate booklet.
The following Reviews of the specialized Web Sites and Music Magazines
    were very positive and interesting.
In the beginning of 2004 the guitarist Carlo leaves the band and Molek continues with four musicians.
During this year and many concerts, the band composed other five tracks
for a new CD, that were never published because the drummer Marco, in the beginning of 2005, leaves the band for studying in Spain, with the consequence that the band split up, after any auditions to find a good new drummer that never comes.
At the end of 2006 Danilo and Ferruccio makes the reunion, thanks the
joining of the new drummer Salvo D'Urso.
The band was also a trio and Danilo sings and plays guitars too; but after
a concert in april 2007 the band split up definitely.
Later Danilo plays with Historica, Brain Dead and actually (2012) Malefica; and Marco Pampo with Purulent Necropsys (Seville, Spain).
