I spent the entire day today hiking my son who is eight-years-old, and brought him to all the spots I went as a kid. It was absolutely amazing. Without getting to into it, the whole family unit thing kind of fell apart when I was young. Vehicles and history is what I buried my head into to forget about it all. These Vehicles, these other people, they'll all be here when I come back, but I spent the weekend focusing on what means the most to me. I don't know you, but your words were exactly what I needed. very true on flow ( and rod strength ) but strong rods dont make power... This came about with these honda making easy 800 ( rode stregnth comes into play here ) but they make 500hp on stock stuff with ease.. 4.6 2v have heads and can not make the power with ease head flow ( or design ) of the head ... Now with me changing well its just time...You watch you kids grow and but have not give them the proper game to help move through life ( not saying i have all the answers ) but man ... Right to the heart, Bro... I'm in the same boat.. But, I'm trying. That said... You're right about the 2-valve. But, the other problem mod motors have is lack of displacement. Everything we're competing against is roughly a liter bigger. AND with better heads. So... I'm committing the gravest sin... My Vic is getting a 6.0LS with a turbo... I'm sorry... I can't help it. It makes power. Easily. My next one will be a 4valve Mk VIII motor, though....
hey brother you have build what you have to build 6.0 vs 4.6 there is no contest... We are all sad , but ( we ALLL understand ) Wil have to see ya on the build and the build 4 valve in the future... Ford make engine odd even this Godzilla motor everyone is not makeing the power ( they think ) its a solid motor though so the lower displacement can work for ya seasoned just right ( it can work ) but it cost ( 6.0 ) is cheaper and better for performance... Now on the home front ... I just want to be better human...WE always better ourselves in areas that really for bragging points ( in most cases ) no body brags about being a better human or family man.. I have always thought the 4.6 is too small Ford pushed it as far as they could I think it over performs but that's the platform they used they did compete with 5.7 Chevys, as they used to say there is no substitute for cubic inches and you reminded me that I need to repair a relationship with my son and my wife, God bless you

I had a drinking habit ( social drinker ) that had to be somewhere to drink ( rode motorcycles drunk ) it took the edge off a bit, but then slowly just messed with my judgement... The support is needed and you will quit the cigs ( once you break on how you buy them ) when you buy them ( can use it as a stress releif )

I'm in the same place brother. I just had my first great granddaughter last night. She's beautiful brother. I realized last night looking at my grandson holding his newborn daughter. I did the same thing. Work work work and do and do and do. I never spent the time with my grandkids I always wanted too. I know it's not too late. I'm pushing 50 and have a great all ready lol. That's OK. Lately I've been tryin to slow down a little and spend more time with my family. It's only too late when they are putting dirt on you. We got this brother. God is there for us. And we need to be here for our family. I wanted to teach my grandsons to work on cars. But with life's circumstances it didn't happen like that. We got this.

I love Fords, but it took the company decades to learn that power is made in the heads. Good ports make good power, period. They were heading the right direction with the Cleveland engine, but then they went the wrong way with the open combustion chambers. I enjoy your comments about your life journey as well. Your thoughts about breaking the cycle and repairing things are right on. It's a daily thing, too. Some days we all do better than others. There's no such thing as perfect but there is always better.
Well The 351c heads way back they had the recipe , but I dont understand ( like you said ) why they did away with the tech... Maybe a law suit or the rights where given-up or something cause they had the tech... Coyote put them back in the game but look how long this took ( many Ford guys suffered ) 96-2014

I’m still working on heads for my build. Npi block and pi heads. I have the npi heads I took off the block to swap for PI ones and am practicing my porting on them. I picked up a set of used pi heads but after tearing them apart and cleaning I found a crack in one. So I found another set from a buddy in my car club. I’ve spent 2 months sourcing parts for this project (including the 3650). I’m only sitting at $800 so far but I know the machine shop is gonna be the most expensive. Now I’ve heard a rumor that porting the npi heads is the way to go but the info out there is scretchy at best and not too informative. Also I bet it would need a cnc to do it correctly.
The best compliment my father gave me before he passed was that I was doing a better job than he did. Wonderful compliment, but we can all always do better.
There are cobra guys swapping to 4r70s the problem is 87 octane and 9.4 compression the throttle body and plenum are tiny the tune stock is sloppy For it'ss day the crown Vic was a pretty strong vehicle and Chase down a lot of cars before Mopar start putting 390 to 500 hp in everything
Agreed but I can take a Honda Mini van 2008 and the Vic can not do nothing with it... Now it will chase itr down over time for sure.. Many guys forget the Crown Vic is old tech it was built with purpose ( Like us Crown Vic guys say )... The engine had to be eco friendly ( also make Ford money ) and well balance for duty ( which it was ) Now that tech can not mess with a V-tech honda .. Guys build Na hondas ( of course race gas ) and high compression ( like you mentioned ) They have a all motor ka20 Honda 600hp ( can not be done with a 4.6 v ) na ..... I played with the Jdm stuff I seen some thing the 4.6 motor is SOLID the heads are the issue ( compression ) like you metioned and displacement... I feel a better designed head it will better... nevr the less you are correct though Bro
My dad was a mechanic and a terrible alcoholic. He quit drinking and our relationship got better, but when I was young he would get so frustrated with me and would tell me to “go inside with your mother”!!! Turned me off cars for years. Silver lining was I became a chef (mom was a way better teacher) but I see my dad come out in me sometimes when I’m wrenching with my boys, and I have to put myself in check. Way to go my man, our generation is way more self aware than our parents generation was. Still learned a ton from the old man…just took years for me to realize it, definitely worth braking that cycle.

I really like the availability of parts in all 3 options. Especially the Mustang parts compatibility for the 4.6 I'm honestly going to scoop up a grand marquis and make a daily/offroader

The painfully honest truth is, if you bought a panther car to beat scat packs and hell cats, you're not very bright. You'll want to get a real performance machine and leave these cars alone for the guys who just want to make fun cruisers out of them. Because that is all these will ever be is fun cheap cruisers. So I have to really explain deep why it can not happen... Thats bike number 2 thats i got running with scarps the REAL bike I am working on that now ... fixing that bike was a after thought... Why don't you let your kid learn on vehicles with you. I've been doing auto tech for 9 years and learned through the way that the more I work alone the more I feel depressed and shallowed out from society. So the free time I do get I allow my girlfriend to work with me and value my time to teach her so she has that knowledge as Well.
Good Question 1st son did not work on cars with me at all so at the age 18 ( he changed a light bulb and did breaks ) and right now he pass me with knowledge about cars.( he watched me a lot though ) so this one i have start helping me and we talk more... Its a bit more deeper ( lets say running around more ) I was not working on cars much either so that played a part .. Now we are talking more and thats more important than wrenching ( now I have 2 little boys ) I have them in the garage but man its like ferrets running around lol....Tough to manage and think...THUS my issues on being a better Dad in said video. I see a flaw so i have to correct one of many things
Cobra engine is good ( for us ) but that isnt the answer to the hp wars that has been going on... what i saying is just put a Cobra engine in a Vic and beat a Dodge will not happen... Thats the cards we where delt with as being Ford Guys... We need boost to play and if they boost ( our boost ) make NICE numbers better than many out there ( which is odd )

I love Fords, but it took the company decades to learn that power is made in the heads. Good ports make good power, period. They were heading the right direction with the Cleveland engine, but then they went the wrong way with the open combustion chambers.

Well The 351c heads way back they had the recipe , but I dont understand ( like you said ) why they did away with the tech... Maybe a law suit or the rights where given-up or something cause they had the tech... Coyote put them back in the game but look how long this took ( many Ford guys suffered ) 96-2014
@@bstfordchannel923 the open chamber heads were very prone to detonation, including all the 2V heads. All of that can be fixed...but it isn't cheap.

I’m still working on heads for my build. Npi block and pi heads. I have the npi heads I took off the block to swap for PI ones and am practicing my porting on them. I picked up a set of used pi heads but after tearing them apart and cleaning I found a crack in one. So I found another set from a buddy in my car club. I’ve spent 2 months sourcing parts for this project (including the 3650). I’m only sitting at $800 so far but I know the machine shop is gonna be the most expensive. Now I’ve heard a rumor that porting the npi heads is the way to go but the info out there is scretchy at best and not too informative. Also I bet it would need a cnc to do it correctly.

There are cobra guys swapping to 4r70s the problem is 87 octane and 9.4 compression the throttle body and plenum are tiny the tune stock is sloppy

Agreed but I can take a Honda Mini van 2008 and the Vic can not do nothing with it... Now it will chase itr down over time for sure.. Many guys forget the Crown Vic is old tech it was built with purpose ( Like us Crown Vic guys say )... The engine had to be eco friendly ( also make Ford money ) and well balance for duty ( which it was ) Now that tech can not mess with a V-tech honda .. Guys build Na hondas ( of course race gas ) and high compression ( like you mentioned ) They have a all motor ka20 Honda 600hp ( can not be done with a 4.6 v ) na ..... I played with the Jdm stuff I seen some thing the 4.6 motor is SOLID the heads are the issue ( compression ) like you metioned and displacement... I feel a better designed head it will better... nevr the less you are correct though Bro
My dad was a mechanic and a terrible alcoholic. He quit drinking and our relationship got better, but when I was young he would get so frustrated with me and would tell me to “go inside with your mother”!!! Turned me off cars for years. Silver lining was I became a chef (mom was a way better teacher) but I see my dad come out in me sometimes when I’m wrenching with my boys, and I have to put myself in check. Way to go my man, our generation is way more self aware than our parents generation was. Still learned a ton from the old man…just took years for me to realize it, definitely worth braking that cycle.

4.6 and 5.4 were one of the best things ford made until they decided to put 3 valves on them.

I've been doing auto tech for 9 years and learned through the way that the more I work alone the more I feel depressed and shallowed out from society. So the free time I do get I allow my girlfriend to work with me and value my time to teach her so she has that knowledge as Well.
Good Question 1st son did not work on cars with me at all so at the age 18 ( he changed a light bulb and did breaks ) and right now he pass me with knowledge about cars.( he watched me a lot though ) so this one i have start helping me and we talk more... Its a bit more deeper ( lets say running around more ) I was not working on cars much either so that played a part .. Now we are talking more and thats more important than wrenching ( now I have 2 little boys ) I have them in the garage but man its like ferrets running around lol....Tough to manage and think...THUS my issues on being a better Dad in said video. Cobra engine is good ( for us ) but that isnt the answer to the hp wars that has been going on... what i saying is just put a Cobra engine in a Vic and beat a Dodge will not happen... Thats the cards we where delt with as being Ford Guys... We need boost to play and if they boost ( our boost ) make NICE numbers better than many out there ( which is odd )
