Didn't you see the volleyball he had in the jeep with him when he delivered the package? Wilson Jr was born. Oh of you think you won't cry with the green mile, you are mistaken. It's the tear jerking-est movie he ever made.
I just turned 70. I didn't realize what that would be like. I've learned a lot in this life. Too much to share, but this one thing that is always 100% true - if you're alive to see the sun come up, you have another chance for your life to change. The tides and winds can give you a sail to a new place. You just have to be willing to experience something new.
An interesting fact on this movie - When it was filmed, they had superimposed a voice for Wilson (that help Tom Hanks keep that conversation going. In the cutting room, they removed everything Wilson said to add depth to the movie.
@@betteryourlife865 I agree, but maybe they never intended to leave that in, just to give Tom Hanks a way to answer as if talking to a real person. Actually I'm sure it was a real person, but play on an audio track they could easily edit out of the film in post.
Probably Tom Hanks's best performance and movie in my opinion, he makes you sympathise with his predicament from beginning to end and the way he makes his friendship with Wilson feel natural is next level.
I'll go with his Oscar performances in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump as his best. For the first real revelation of his acting ability, I think Big is worth a look. Up to then, most people knew him only from a brief sit-com TV run.
Joe vs. The Volcano is definitely a weird one. Cloud Atlas is also a very strange film, but I give both of them props because they're not your normal, run-of-the-mill movies. With Ladykillers being a dark comedy it is *very* hit and miss for people. To me, Mazes and Monsters is just his absolute worst movie, at no fault of his own.
I saw this in the theater. 6:09 Helen Hunt from this movie was FANTASTIC (won an Oscar) for her role in "As Good As it Gets" with Jack Nicholson in 1996. 12:59 This WAS a great plane crash scene, but "The Society of the Snow" is THE PINNACLE of plane crash scenes, even though, it's snow compared to ocean, but the crash itself was GREAT! The movie itself was also FANTASTIC! So happy to know you're watching "The Green Mile" next. I saw that in the theater too.
If Toy Story counts, so does Polar Express 😉 but best Tom Hanks movie for me goes back to where it all began....."Splash" (1984) you guys should react to it..think you'll like it a lot.
Awesome to be here for this reaction! You guys need to check his early comedy work in Turner and Hooch! ❤ great stuff.. The Money pit is also an hilarious one 🎉
Btw...Have you seen "Turner And Hootch and BIG? Those were Tom Hanks's first "hits" (Especially BIG) Btw....Forrest Gump, BIG and PHILADELPHIA is probably my "favorite Hanks Movies". But "Captain Phillips" and "Sully", has a special place in my heart. 🥰
I fought in Iraq for 4 years and when I finally got out of the military and returned home, the old life that I thought was waiting for me wasn't there anymore. My friends had all started families and moved on. My ex-girlfriends were married. People had changed homes and started new jobs. I fully understand what he was feeling standing at the crossroads, having to start a new life and not really seeing a difference in either direction. As far as Kelly, I've put myself in his shoes and I think after she hugged me and I saw the map and saw how much cared, I would be okay. Even though it's all very confusing and unfair, just knowing that she cared that much would put me at ease. You just want to know that you didn't suffer alone, that you weren't forgotten.
I've always loved that scene with Kelly. The fact that she not only kept the original map, newspaper clippings, etc, but she could also spout off the numbers, places, and calculations off the top of her head just shows where her heart was at. Yes, I'm glad she stayed with her husband and kid, but I'm also glad they showed that she never forgot Chuck.
_Cloud Atlas_ is by far my favorite Hanks film, and also has a stellar cast overall. It's one of my favorite films in general, absolutely brilliant story.
Promising not to cry in a Tom Hanks movie is money lost in a bet, guaranteed. This movie is one of the best T.H. movie's, hands down n only Tom would make people cry for losing a volleyball. Incredible, timeless movie
49:12 According to the movie writers, that package contained a full survival kit, wilderness GPS receiver, and a fully-charged and activated satellite phone.
I live in Lubbock, Texas and just recently took my kids to the crossroads where they filmed the first and final scene. Its about 3 hours north of us and just north of Canadian, Texas.
Love that scene when he looks back at the island. He knows that if that island wasn’t there he would be dead. The island kept him alive and he is thankful.
Castaway is one of Tom Hanks best but i still like his earlier comedy stuff like THE BURBS is a comedy thriller type thang very left of field but a lot of fun
Everytime I see this movie I'm reminded how grateful I am to know the survival consultants who helped with this movie. And who have taught me and thousands of others. The skills are real.
Sully is my favorite! Such a good movie! The guy Tom Hanks plays actually went to my high school and came back to do a graduation speech when my cousin graduated. Love that movie!
The scene with the fire on the beach was the only scene on the island that was actually shot at night. The rest were shot during the day, with a filter placed over the image to make it look like nighttime.
Great reaction peeps! I love one of his newer movies... A man called Otto its a fantastic film & older films like seepless in seattle, big & ofcourse Philadelphia enjoy 👌
4+ years is more than enough time for Kelly to have properly mourned his death, move on, get married and have a child. I know because it happened to me (although my spouse wasn't castaway on a south pacific island).
but she moved on a lot quicker, 4 years later she had a whole established life, that took years to build, she moved on quick cause she didn't really love him,
Without looking it up and going off memory, Tom Hanks about died while filming this movie. He cut his knees up because he was on them so much and since he was refusing to bathe for the movie, he caught a staph infection that was eating away at his leg. They caught it in time and I think it took him a few weeks to recover from it. I love how the music completely cuts out from the time he is on the island until he gets off.

This movie tears me apart a little inside when I watch it... my first gf and I were very much in love, but she was always struggling from 5exual abuse as a child, I spent years patiently waiting for her to trust again and although she loved me she was too scared to commit. After 10 years we decided to separate as I wanted family and she never knew if she was going to get over the trauma. I am happily married with kids and so is she now (20 years later) but I still have that hole in my heart when we parted ways I can't help it. She said she would always love me as I had helped her get over her abuse a lot and rebuild trust. It's really hard to explain. I wouldn't give up what I have now, my current wife and kids, I'd die for them but even now it still upsets me thinking about her. Life is complicated.
My favorite Tom Hanks movie has always been THIS - Cast Away. It left such a strong impression on me as a kid! But there really are no bad Tom Hanks movies! They're all incredible.
Fun fact about this movie: FedEx did not officially sponsor it or pay to have their brand in the movie. The idea of the movie came from Tom Hanks himself when he was reading an article in a magazine about FedEx planes that take off twice a day from LAX To fly around the world. He said he wondered what would happen if one of the planes ever went down and the movie was born. This interview is on TH-cam. It's short, but also a very good watch.
Yes, Money Pit is very funny. But unfortunately it’s not cherished like Splash and Big are, those 2 are the only Tom Hanks movies from the 80s that are considered classics
He started his career in a horror movie. That was his first film. He did mainly comedies for the first half of his acting career. Splash and then Big were his first 2 larger films that launched him into becoming a super star.
Great reaction, guys. Road to Perdition is another awesome TH movie. It flew under the radar a bit, I think there were some other blockbusters released at the same time, and it got lost in the noise. Paul Newman gives a fantastic performance, with Jude Law and Daniel Craig doing some work too

Tom Hanks. Most of your viewers have a leg up on you with most of his movies. Get ahead of them and watch “A Man Called Otto” it’s a hidden gem released in 2022. You will not regret it.
My wife said the ending wasn't believable. She said Kelly never moved on from Chuck and quickly married her dentist to fill a gap but didn't really love him, he was just a resource. She said Kelly would have driven off in the rain with Chuck in "our car" which she had kept for four years and then divorced her husband. Chuck was now the better "catch" being a national celebrity with movie/book deals looming in his future.
Leave a like if you wanna see more Tom Hanks! plus it would significantly help our channel! love you Guys and R.I.P Wilson );
Didn't you see the volleyball he had in the jeep with him when he delivered the package? Wilson Jr was born. Oh of you think you won't cry with the green mile, you are mistaken. It's the tear jerking-est movie he ever made.
A league of their own, and "Big" are awesome Tom Hanks movies👍👍🔥🔥
React to Beast of No Nation! Really great and hard movie to watch about child soldiers of Africa
@theoctobersreact...the worst, not a bad movie, is The Devinci Code. Only because I read the books.
"Road to Perdition” is the most underrated Tom Hanks movie. Hardly anyone reacted to it,so you should.

So many classic Tom Hanks films! Splash! (1983), Bachelor Party (1984) The Money Pit (1986) A League of Their Own (1992), the list goes on...

Tom Hanks is the only actor that could make me get emotional over a volleyball. I think his worst movie was Joe vs The Volcano.
That came to mind too, but I think The Money Pit was worse.
His most ambiguous movie is "Cloud Atlas." I've never been able to figure out whether I love it or hate it.
No. His worst movie is Mazes & Monsters. His second worst is probably Bachelor Party.
Lady Killers.
Joe vs. The Volcano is definitely a weird one. Cloud Atlas is also a very strange film, but I give both of them props because they're not your normal, run-of-the-mill movies. With Ladykillers being a dark comedy it is *very* hit and miss for people.
