[Update July 2022: It is NOT by Pergolesi. Marvin Paymer thought so too. No one knew the ins and outs of Pergolesi's style better than he did. But make no mistake. It is a beautiful flute concerto. The main (only?) manuscript is in Stockholm. How did it get to Sweden? It is clearly Neapolitan in style and all of Europe wanted Neapolitan. It is extremely probable that it is by the German-Italian composer Johann Adolph Hasse. I am sure that a little more research might prove it.]
This is indeed beautiful music. But it has not been certified that it is by Pergolesi. It is not quite good enough to be written by the greatest composer of all time. There is manuscript evidence that it is by Johann Adolf Hasse. It is indeed warm and pleasing in this uniquely Neapolitan settecento manner. The German Hasse worked in Napoli. One has to be careful not to take the name of Pergolesi in vain, Leo Depuydt

@@maxachille2208 So true. So true. In other news, the Pergolesi Manifesto Primavera 2022 (dated 9 marzo) has been completed. It has been transferred to Le Marche from where it will be disseminated throughout the world through all possible channels . Don't lose hope. A new age is dawning. The history of western music will be completely turned upside down. Leo Depuydt

@@leodepuydt308 I agree; I also think that internet and the partecipazione of many people will produce a new age with a new order of worth.

@@maxachille2208 Dear Max, Let me make one thing clear. Modern music is Italy's gift to the Western world. It is the origin of everything. The most scholarly of US presidents, Thomas Jefferson, already thought so. There is nothing wrong with the German musicians that you mention. But they owed everything to Italy. Schuetz was the most important German musician before Bach. But he went on trips to Italy and the only one he ever referred to as his teacher was Giovanni Gabrieli. German political Pangermania ended in a bunker in Berlin in April 1945. It is time for German musical Pangermania to end. We want to be free. Leo Depuydt
