I also have 16 headway cells all I need is to make the bussbars was thinking bout buying the aluminum off Amazon. What were your dimensions on your bars here? Are they 1/4? As well that’s what I’m going with too thanks. Excited to see what this 32 AH can do!
This material is 1/4" 6061 aluminum. the long bars are 2.5"x6.125", short ones 2.5"x2.5". The holes are 1.625" apart in all directions. Depending on how much stuff you have to hook up to it, it may be easier to do a more standard layout with pos and neg out each side, also giving you 4-6 hook up points per pole. In that case you'd essentially make 5 of the long bars and use those for the poles and run the bank as straight lines of 4 cells instead of clusters.

You really shouldn't need to charge or discharge them, just assemble and install. It is a good idea to hook all cells in Parallel for a few days, POS to POS and NEG to NEG, this will help with the initial balance of the bank; However, when starting with Used cells like these, they will never be perfectly balanced and its perfectly fine to just assemble and install and let the balancer do its job.

You are absolutely fine running the bank straight parallel to the Lead up front, No Isolator Required. I have another video up on exactly that subject.
You said you paired this with your lead acid battery up front ? Impressive. I'm currently building a 16ah for a small sound system I'm building for my wife.
Correct. The vehicle shown is a Lead to LiFe setup. I ran a 16Ah bank with the factory battery for quite a while with zero negative results. Plug and Play Power!
@@KvnWlsn I've heard often agm and lithium pair okay but I did not know you could pair lithium with lead acid... assuming that's what OP and @GotLithium? Meant
@@RandoManFPV I believe it is what they meant but then benefits of AGM far outweigh lead acid to the point that whenever I get a new vehicle the first thing I do is replace the stock battery with a AGM of the same size. So yes you can run lead acid and headway together but I personally wouldn't. AGM and headway is the least I would run but ideally you would want to run a supercap under the hood or do a battery delete and run just lithium... at least that's what I have always been told.
You said you connect it straight to the lead battery what about charging it? Im interested in this set-up to run a cb amplifier which require large amounts of current everytime you key the mic
I do Not recommend using an isolator. I feel Isolators are an unnecessary bottleneck in your charging system. LiFe does rest slightly higher than Lead, so the bank will float the Lead Up, but the draw is negligible. Over many days, the Lithium will Eventually drain down to Lead rest, then both will just sit at that voltage indefinitely. If you drive the vehicle daily or even weekly, there's no issues running them Direct Parallel as the vehicle in the video is.
Im doing 64 cells for my car audio build. I been told that I need to put a regulator on the alternator. Im doing two separate banks of 32 cells can i run it without having to put a regulator. I do have a second alternator in my car. Thanks in advance
128Ah is quite a bit of Headway, a stock alternator May have a little harder time keeping them charged, but will work none the less. However, Upgrading the alternator would be a benefit. You shouldn't need a regulator unless it currently charges too High, Headway is acceptable to be charged anywhere from 13.2v to 14.6v.
It is my understanding that a regulator is not there to prevent damage to the battery bank, but rather to limit the current the alternator puts out, thus helping the alternator to run cooler and last longer.
How is this bigger then 3.5 big agm batteries if this is 32ah lithium battery and a agm Xs power group 31 d14 is 100ah I don’t understand how this lithium has more of a AH capacity
The big thing with lithium is their "C" rating. Which is how fast a cell can discharge its energy and recover after. AGM can't compete in those areas, much slower recharge/recover rate and a lot less pulse/burst discharge rate. Then you factor in price, weight, and size and headway/lithium is the clear winner.
This is the clearest explanation of building a headway bank I've seen.
Thank you!
