FIA should revisit the Safety Car rules - it makes no sense to count the time and laps of the cars while the safety car is on the track (especially when all cars need to slow down and are not allowed to overtake each other). Their laps and timings should pause as soon as the Safety Car is deployed on the track and they should restart their incomplete lap and timings once they cross the starting line again after the Safety Car has been removed. Their timings on the incomplete lap before safety car got deployed (which they now have to redo) can be deducted later if required. Cars should be allowed to overtake others only after they cross the starting line once the safety car has been taken off.
The most stupid rule in the world that a driver can build up a thirty second lead which is nullified by the safety car being used. Increasingly so with the increased number of “street style” circuits with no run off area where there WILL be incidents requiring the safety car. Cars have regulators to control their speed in the pit lane….why not the same under the safety car so positions and spacing remains the same?
Keep up the fine work with the videos. Between your videos and paying up for F1 TV pro to watch the, FPS, Qual, and race, I’ve been learning a lot. Thank you.
what do you think about today's situation? Is it okay for the FIA to let only a bunch of cars unlap themselves and leave others? Like in this case they may have thought, to clear traffic bw Max and Lewis to have a final lap fair race.
Aparrently the lap after you release lapped cars must also be a safety car lap, here they did not do that, absolute shambles, they may as well have given the champ to Max in March due to this. The FIA changed the course of the race. Oh well GG to Max
It was a shambles and you’re right either let them all unlap or none the whole thing was ridiculous. I don’t know if this is right but was reading the race director can over ride the rules. Looks like that’s what happened and he just wanted a one lap shoot out. If that’s what he wanted should have red flagged it then a restart.
@@phantomdevil6834 That’s true. Lewis would have probably won if there was no safety car. But there was a crash. There was a safety car. Red bull made the right call and Max won. It is what it is. Safety cars have been part of the sport since the beginning. It cannot be blamed for Max’s win.
Here after monza safety car ending and I think they should red flag the race and start from the pit lane like in silver stone Zhou crash if it’s a late safety car
A safety car does a extra lap before his lights go out so lap cars that were allowed to unlap themselves can catch up to the back of the pack again before the race starts, was that rule changed? You didn't mention that.
Thanks for that question. When the command is give for lapped cars to overtake lapped cars must pass the leader and the safety car. They usually go quick and catch up to the back of pack so that all drivers are bunched together on the same lap. Then the race restarts.
I'm confused, anyone can explain the lapped cars are now able to unlap themselves part? How come lapped cars can drive ahead of the safety car? Do they drive all the way around till they are back of the pack again? Why is this necessary anyway?
Thanks for the comment. My understanding is that cars are always allowed to pit under safety car unless the pit lane is closed. From a strategic perspective there are some situations when it not smart to take a pitstop. Made a video on that topic which can be seen here: th-cam.com/video/C6ecOUEgYRM/w-d-xo.html
That's a good question. Imagine there are two cars A and B. If A has completed 30 laps and B has completed 29 laps and A is ahead of B then B is lapped car.
Lapped car is a car that is a full lap behind leader. For example leader is on Lap 55 and if he passes a driver who is on Lap 54 then leader "lapped" the driver
Alright, but is it fair? is it fair that the car in front that has a big lead will lose that lead? Is it to create more action? good drivers get fucked.
Most complex thing in the world: formula 1
Someone show this video to the FIA, they don’t seem to understand it

But the cars don’t have fuel for more laps
You're seeing the pace car as a ruleset as opposed to an actual part of the race
@@danbruh33 that is right the reason
Fuel

Thank you very much for the comment. Look out for more great videos coming out soon.
This video came so handy today haha
I don't get why they don't just stop if there's an incident?

It would have made no difference in the championship. Max would have still won. So I don’t see any loss
@@OMGitsPARAJ That’s a bit of a bold statement seeing as Lewis was running away with the championship

thank you for the educational video content and the pit detail was difficult to understand without graphical representation.
Is it only me who came after Verstappen victory at Abu Dhabi
Nope
Love your videos :) I'm not new to F1, but I always love to watch these educational vids!
Thanks for the comment Yasmin - means a lot. Look out for more great videos coming out soon.

So what were the Safety Car rules during the 2021 Championship?
Clear and concise, as always!
Thanks Ana. Really appreciate your support of the channel.
Michael masi should watch this
Hello! I am right there!

Thanks for the comment. You are correct and the rules have not changed - I should added that to the video. Appreciate you pointing it out.
Should the safety car have picked up VER in the Miami GP or should they all of been waved through until NOR was behind it?
All that text would benefit with graphics to accompany it
Just a question if lap cars are allowed to overtake do they only do it for 1 lap? I'm confused I'm still new to f1

Yes it's the heat from the breaks
@@lukegamer167 ohh, thanks for letting me know 😊

Isn’t the safety car based on a police spec version of a regular production model?
And race director couldn't understand this!
Yes - that was crazy last year. I believe there are 2 race directors for this season
