    I find it absolutely disgusting when people sound their horn at learner drivers. Seriously, it’s like they forget they were once in their shoes.

    • @nchnch_
      @nchnch_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +155

      As much as I'm all for being patient with learners and giving them space, if I was in the black Fiesta's shoes at the start there, I would have tooted the horn - it's an appropriate use, as it serves a purpose of making someone aware of your presence and might have stopped them from pulling out into you. However, the Fiesta also seemed to be going at a fair rate, so it would also have helped if they actually braked a bit as well as using the horn.

    • @richishere82
      @richishere82 5 ปีที่แล้ว +178

      Hmmm she was about to pull out on him. The horn was used correctly.

    • @Unknown-si8yx
      @Unknown-si8yx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Marlene Cuambe the horn was used appropriately. She was about to pull out infront of the car and would've crashed

    • @Unknown-si8yx
      @Unknown-si8yx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Marlene Cuambe also for some reason she was looking only at the rear view mirror instead of looking over her shoulder on the right before moving off which doesn't make sense

    • @marylyn_mz
      @marylyn_mz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Tom J i stand corrected and do agree that the horn should be use to make the other person aware of your presence. I might have missed that bit( this is what happens when you watch videos with a 1 year old next to you) lool.

  • @neofox.
    @neofox. 5 ปีที่แล้ว +104

    Not everyone will agree, but there should be a minimum number of hours (at least 20) you should accumulate before you are sent for a test, regardless of natural skill. You're not riding push bikes, you're moving around 1-2 tons of metal at considerable speed.
    I once asked my instructor for a test after about 8-9 lessons and he said something along the lines of "you're getting better but your experience is still quite low and it would be pointless to send you for a test". So I decided to have extra lessons at night. Driving at night is a whole new experience and I'm glad I had those extra lessons, because I passed first time.

    • @Ahmed____
      @Ahmed____ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Why should someone have to take a minimum number of lessons if they are confident and safe behind the wheels earlier than others? Do you keep using stabilisers on your bike once you can ride it?

      I totally agree. Yes you may be confident and safe at driving the car however I would say that less than 20 hours is not enough road experience to deal with more complex situations that will arise and its not worth putting yourself and others at such high risk with potential fatal consequences

    • @Burton714
      @Burton714 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      In nsw Australia you need a minimum of 120 hours with 20 of those hours being night time driving. I think it’s good to have a minimum requirement however probably something a little less extreme as this.

I feel like I have much more experience, I feel confident and I feel much more content within my abilities on the road. Give her a break, she's only had 10 lessons, not everybody learns quick and these lessons aren't a one size fits all procedure. Some pass later than others and end up being very good drivers, some pass quick and are a menace on the road. She's just inexperienced, she'll do fine.

    • @fetchstixRHD
      @fetchstixRHD 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      “...she’s only had 10 lessons...” exactly the point people are making, it’s ideally not the point where you should be thinking about tests when you’re new to cars. I can bet that most people that were saying she was a danger aren’t doing so out of malice or ridicule, pointing out flaws doesn’t mean you dislike someone and indeed often means they want you to improve.

    • @bluefilmsltd
      @bluefilmsltd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fetchstixRHD Well, yeah, i imagine after that mock driving test she got a reality check and realised she was nowhere near test ready or able to drive properly. But we all realise that so way add salt to the wounds? Also, think you underestimate the sheer, unrelentless nastiness that is youtube comments.

    • @fetchstixRHD
      @fetchstixRHD 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blue Sera Films: “...so [why] add salt to the wounds?” I don’t think that’s the right way to look at it. Yes maybe it might hurt to read that you didn’t do well, but most people aren’t commenting to hurt her feelings or put her down.
      Don’t forget that humans are often unrealistically optimistic at times too, many people have gone for driving tests at a time where they are far from ready (although the fact that she’s been filmed while taking a mock practical suggests that she’s more open to feedback for improvement than most).
      “...think you underestimate the sheer, unrelentless nastiness that is youtube comments”
      I can’t speak as to whether this comment section is moderated, but there are about 350 comments on this video, it’s not too difficult to browse through all of them.
      The worst of them I’ve seen are saying (paraphrasing) that it’s scary that she passed her actual driving test or that she shouldn’t be on the roads (one of which I replied to while I was watching the video beforehand), but those aren’t frequent. The majority of comments I’ve seen either are commenting why she wasn’t ready from the video and a few are giving encouragement to keep working on her driving.
      Yes comment sections online can be nasty (a consequence of a platform where you can openly comment and especially when it’s about emotionally charged topics) but here it isn’t too terrible. I’m willing to bet that most people who watch this channel do so to learn about driving and it’s niche enough to escape general conflicts that arise elsewhere.

    • @bluefilmsltd
      @bluefilmsltd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fetchstixRHD While I accept that YOU may not have had any negative intentions in criticising her performance here, I don't think you can speak for everyone else. A lot of the comments on here go beyond general critiquing and are downright nasty. When somebody comments, 'lol 10 hours, joker I was driving better after 5 hours' or 'she can't drive at all she's terrible' that's not critiquing, that's a bunch of insulting adjectives.
